WE ARE TRYING FOR THE ROUTINE OF GETTING THE CHAOS PUPS TO THE INDOOR CAMERA AND PUPPY HILL ONCE A DAY-- IN THE VAN IF IT IS TOO BAD

SNOW= PACKED SNOW= ICEY BASE= TROUBLE FOR MARY... WATCH HER PICK  HER WAY---WE NEED TO FIND HER "EASY=BOOTS"    WE HAVE 2   GOOGLE THOSE...
****

MARY IS WITHOUT SHOES-- SHE HAS HAD SOME PROBLEM WITH FOOT ABCESS-- AND  WE DID PUT SHOES ON HER TO HELP..

BUT
THAT TURNED INTO  THE BLACKSMITH AUTOMATICALLY COMING  AND REPLACING THE SHOES EVERY 6 WEEKS  AT $150  --- EVERY 6 WEEKS--$25/WEEK FOR MARY SHOES-
..
**** I REMEMBER------ WHEN I WAS A KID-- BLACKSMITHS RESET SHOES 3 OR 4 TIMES  AND THE SHOE WOULD LAST FOR 6 MONTHS-- SOMETIMES YEARS IF YOU HAD BORIUM TIPS PUT ON THEM-

THEN JANINE BEGAN TO TRAILRIDE-- 20 MILES A DAY-- AND THE BLACKSMITHS CONVINCED ME THAT THE CHINESE GOT ALL TH E GOOD IRON AND THE NAIL HOLES WOULD NOT HOLD UP AN N SHE WOULD LOOSE THE SHOE ANYWAY SO YOU MAY AS WELL BUY NEW   EVERY 8 WEEKS
AND I DID THAT

- THEN WE GET TO MARY-- EVERY 6 WEEKS

AND SHE- AND CROSBY  WERE LOOSING SHOES AT 3 WEEKS-  NAILCLINCHING WAS NOT HOLDING WELL-- THAT IS WHERE THEY BEND THE CUT NAIL OVER CLAMPING THE SHOE ON TH E HOOF... BEND IT 1/2 WAY AND THE SHOE FALLS OFF AND YOU GET PAID AGAIN TO COME AN DO THE BLACKSMITH THING.

MADISON AVENUE  BUSINESS PRACTICES  STRIKES AGAIN
************
FYI--- WE USED TO HAVE DRAFT HORSES ( 2000 POUND BUDWEISER SORT OF HORSE) AND THOSE WERE $250 every 8 weeks PER HORSE... AND WE HAD 4 OF THEM FOR A VERY SHORT PERIOD--FEEDING THEM WAS NO PROBLEM-- IT WAS THE SHOE BILL..

ONE OTHER FYI... THERE IS ONE FAMILY OF BLACKSMITHS THAT SHOE THE BUDWEISERS NATION WIDE...-- AND  OTHER DRAFT HORSES  IN NEW ENGLAND-- THE KRIZ FAMILY-- NOTEABLY  ALL THE MEN ARE ABOUT 5'4" TALL--3 GENERATIONS I KNOW OF... REASON BEING   YOU WILL NOT FIND A TALL, OLD, BLACKSMITH-- IT IS TOO HARD ON TALL BACKS-- BUT THOSE KRIZ'S  GO ON AND ON.

SPEAKING OF FOOT COVERING DEVICES...
I CERTAINLY HAVE COME A LONG WAY IN LIFE TO NOW HAVE SOX  LABELED RIGHT AND LEFT...  NOT SO LONG AGO I DID WELL TO  WEAR 2 SNEAKERS THAT WERE AT LEST SIMILAR.
I AM HAPPY TO REPORT I HAVE GOT MY SOX ON THE PROPER FOOT--

  1. You are a treasure. I love working animals of aa
Ll kinds. My favorite draft horse is the Percheron-- and I word classify you as a human Percheron. God bless -- jan donation is in the mail.

  2. When I had drafts, I took them to the Amish. They were always reasonably priced, and they were the only ones who could trim/shoe a green draft. They used stocks to keep them steady. Only down side was you had to take your horse to them, or go pick them up unless you lived close enough for them to buggy over.

I also rarely shoe mine. Once the nail holes grow out, if you feed them right, they rarely have problems with their hooves. Just keep them properly trimmed.
