a quick don't do this lesson i just had with maggie...

she is a terrible bully in th egro so as i was ANSWERING EMAILS, I HAD HER OUT WITH ME... AND HAD THE SPOON/CAN FEED -- SHE WAS THRILLED..- THEN SHE GOT ON THE SOFA AND STARTED TO CLIMB ON MY DESK.. I SAD NO 3 TIMES-- THEN THE 4TH I SAKD NO AND GAVE HER NOSE A VERY LITTLE SNAP-- SHE BACKED AWAY AND IS STILL TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT HAPPENED.

15 MINUTES LATER SHE IS JUST BEGINNING TO COME WHEN CALLED FOR SPOON FEEDING.

MY LESSON... I SHOULD HAVE HAD HER IN A SMALLER- CONFINED AREA SO WE COULD GO OVER THE COME VS NO LESSON

YOU CAN NOT TEACH A DOG TO COME IN A 10 ACRE FIELD FULL OF RABBITS AND DEER.-- YOU START THE COME LESSON OFF LEASH IN A LIVING ROOM WHERE TH E DOG HAS THE CHOICE OF COMING TO YOU -- GOOD DOGGIE GOOD DOGIE ---- OR HAVING NO NO NO YELLED AT HIM WHEN HE TURNS AWAY-- THE MINUTE HE TURNS TOWARD YOU ... GOOD DOGGIE.... ETC. AWAY GETS A NO NO NO

OFF LEASH-- THEIR CHOICE.

JUST BECAUSE SHE IS A DREADFUL BULLY DOES NOT MEAN SHE IS INSENSATIVE-SHE JUST NEEDS TO LEARN A FEW LIMITATIONS.-- SHE IS CERTAINLY THINKING ABOUT HER ACTIONS NOW.. THIS IS A GOOD THING.

***************************

LARGE CELEBRATON DOGS WILL ENJOY THEIR MEALS IN WARMTH OF THEIR "LIVING ROOMS"

THE CHICKEN SH#TBOARD ID SOLD OUT.. THANK YOU -- ONE AND ALL.

IT SEEMS MAYBE I SHOULD TELL YOU ABOUT THE FOOD AND HEAT IN MORE DETAIL JUST SO YOU KNOW....

\

THE FOOD... THANKS TO A VERY BUSY LOCAL ROAST BEEF SANDWICH STORE. JIM DELIVERS ?200 ? POUNDS OF THE STUFF THAT DOES NOT GO THRU THIER SLICER IN NEAT TIDY SLICES---- CHUNKS--- LIKE 4" CHUNKS-- WHICH HE HAS FROZEN IN BOXES AND DELIVERS TO OUR BARN LEAVING THEM IN 4 HUGE COOLERS. FROZEN

WE THEN SEMI THAW THEM TO BE CUT INTO DOG SIZE LUMPS---( OR SLICES THANKS TO A CAMERA PERSON IN ?? MONTANA?? WHO SENT US A SLICING MACHINE THEY WE NO LONGER USING) THE BOXES OF DOG SIZE ARE THEN PUT IN FREEZERS- TO BE THAWED AND USED-- ABOUT 25 POUNDS A DAY

SINCE WE CUT THIS IN FRONT OF THE FIREPLACE--- ANY SIZABLE CHUNKS OF FAT ARE TOSSED IN THE FIREPLACE TO ?HEAT THE HOUSE-- (AND MAKE TH E NEIGHBORHOOD SMELL LIKE ROAST BEEF/ )

EACH DOG GETS NEARLY A POUND OF GOOD BEEF PER DAY- PLUS JUST TO GET THE NORMAL DOG FOOD STUFF, WE GIVE THEM A KIBBLE- THE LOW END FROM A RELATIVELY GOOD COMPANY. TO THAT WE ADD 3 TUMS-- AS RECOMMENDED BY 3 VETS... JUST TO GET THE CALCIUM THAT TH E PURE BEEF DOES NOT HAVE ( APPARENTLY)

TO THAT THEY GET RANDOM SNACKS OF A NATURAL DOG FOOD THAT WE USE FOR TREATS AND IN THE YUPPY PUPPY AND STICK CHEESE THAT WE BITE OFF IN 1/2 " LUMPS FOR TREATS.

********************

NOW FOR THE HEAT---- AND THE 750 GALLON OIL TANK

THESE 93% EFFECTIVE FURNACES TAKE KEROSENE-- WHICH STARTED OUT COSTING $1.15 A GALLON--- NOW IT IS OVER $3.50

HENCE YOUR HELP IS CRITICAL....

THE HEATER WE HAVE IN 5 AREAS IS THE HEATER YOU SEE IN THE HOUSE NEXT TO TH EPUPS... A VERY EFFECTIVE OIL FURNACE THAT BLOWS HOT AIR..

THE ONE IN THE FEED ROOM RUNS CONSTANTLY WITHTHE AIR BEING DRAWN INTO A DUCT THAT RUNS ALONG THE BACK OF THE SLEEPING AREA IN 8 KNNELS-- WE HAVE A PULL START GENERATOR THERE... I DON'T DO PULLLLLLL SOMEONE ELSE HAS TO

THOSE SLEEPING AREAS ARE RAISED 40" OFF THE FLOOR AND IN THE WINTER WE DO PUT A BLANKET ACROSS MOST OF THE FRONT-- THE SLEEPING AREA IS ABOUT 6 0 DEGREES-- AND THE FLOOR CAN GET DOWN TO 35

THAT IS WHY I ONLY PUT ONE DOG IN A "STALL" AT A TIME-- IF ONE WAS DOMINANT IT MIGHT BE ABLE TO KEEP A SECOND DOG ON THE FLOOR AND NOT LET THEM UP INTO TH E HEATED AREA..

9 AND 10-- THE CHAOS PUP AREA ----GETS THE RESIDEUAL FROM THE OIL FURNACE-- WHICH IS NOT ENOUGH--- SO WE ADDED A SIZABLE ELECTRIC HEATER.-- THAT ROOM SAYS PRETTY UNIFORMLY 60 DEGREES. AND HAS A VARIETY OF SLEEPING AREAS SO THE ONLY DOMINANT PROBLEM WOULD BE THE HIGH SIDE OF 9- BUT THERE ARE BEDS UNDER THAT AND THAT HEAT IS BETTER DISTRIBUTED THAN THE ORIGIONAL 8

****************

THE LAUNDRY HAS THE SAME KEROSCENE FURNACE PLUS A BACK UP WOOD STOVE-- TRAINING ROOM UPSTAIRS JAD A VEYR NICE YOTUL WOOD STOVE.

GUEST HOUSE KERO FURNACE AND WOOD STOVE

NUT HOUSE ELECTRIC HEATER AND WOOD/COAL STOVE

DEAGLE HOUSE ELECT HEATER AND COAL STOVE YET TO PUT ON THE CHIMNEY

***

HOUSE 2 KERO HEATERS, STONE FIREPLACE AND A GLEENWOOD COOKING STOVE WOOD +ELECT START GENERATOR TO RUN THE HEAT AND ONE LIGHTBULB...

******

SINCE THE KERO FURNACES NEED A LITTLE ELECTRICITY YOU CAN SEE MY DILEMNA WHEN WE LOOSE POWER.. EVRY CAR/VAN HAS AN INVERTER WHICH MIGHT HELP IF THE SNOW ISN'T TOO DEEP ETC... TO GET THEM IN PLACE...

***********

COLLEEN HAS ALL OF THEM RUNNING AROUND MY FEET..

*************

? TODAY? EARLENE IS OVERNIGHT AND I DON'T KNOW WHEN SHE WILL GET HERE-- PROBABLY WITH PAUL

WE HAD SOME KIND OG GOOD FOOD LEFT OVER FROM YESTRDAY SO I DON'T EXPECT TO STARVE....

I EXPECT VOLUNTERS AND VISITORS TO COME AND GO AT RANDOM

********************

WE GOT GINGER ON THE PLANE YESTRDAY WITH HER BROKEN LEG IN A SPLINT --- OR AT LEAST [PAUL GOT HER IN THE AIRLINES WHEELCHAIR-- I DON'T KNOW WHT HAPPENED NEXT-- I

  1. Amazing the heating configurations you all need for the different areas at SDP. We have a Yotul wood stove to heat our home...it sure saves on our utlity bill. Havadane - OR
