MAY 9, 2013

where to start....THE EXPLORE HOUSE CAM IS NOT LETTING ME COMMENT OR ANSWER QUESTIONS- SOME SORT OF LOGIN PROBLEMS

WELL....
IT IS EITHER THAT OR I HAVE FORGOTTEN MY NAME.

I GET SOOOOO UPSET WHEN THIS FOOL MACHINE TELLS ME I AM NOT CARLENE... BECAUSE AT THIS AGE YOU ARE NEVER TOO SURE ANYWAY.

I HAVE A HUGE LIST--- 3 TYPED PAGES REMINDING ME OF WHO I AM ON VARIOUS WEB SITES AND WHAT MY PASSWORDS ARE.

ALL VERY ORGANIZED TIL THE CAPS LOCK SCREWS IT UP

AND THEN THERE IS THE O AND 0 PROBLEM-- ALONG WITH SHAKEY HANDS HITTING RANDOM KEYS..

I AM TERRIFIED THAT WHOEVER IS TRACKING THE WEB SITES I VISIT WILL THEN START SENDING ME PORNO-- OR BOMB BUILDING INFO BECAUSE I INADVERTANLY CLICKED ON A WRONG KEY.

**********

BACK TO THE REAL LIFE OF VOMITING DANES- I DID GET A BRAINSTORM-- WE DID PUT THE FLEA KILLER ON THE DOGS LAST WEEK- ABOUT A DAY BEFORE THIS ALL STARTED.. SO I CALLED THE COMPANY'S 24 HOUR LINE-- AND OF COURSE.. THEY NEVER..... ETC...

AND THEN YOU READ THE INTERNET AND YOU FIND THAT PEOPLE BELIEVE THAT USING THAT STUFF WILL KILL FLEAS AND CAUSE ATHLETE'S FOOT -- I AM STILL SEARCHING FOR SOME LOGICAL AND SCIENTIFICALLY CORRECT ANSWER

I EVEN SPENT $200 ON SOME EXTENSIVE FECAL TEST WITH THE LAB GEORGE USES... NO RESULTS YET.

READING ALL THAT INTERNET STUFF ON BUG KILLERS, THERE SEEMED TO BE A THREAD OF WHAT I WOULD CALL HEIGHTENED SENSATIVITY -

THAT WOULDN'T EXPLAIN THE BELLYACHE- BUT THERE IS ANOTHER QUESTION MEGAN AND I HAVE DISCUSSED.. THERE ARE A COUPLE DOGS.. WHO BROKE TRADITION OF CALM WORKER- AND TURNED INTO TO TERRIFIED WILD DOGS- FOR A DAY OR SO -- AND THEN WERE NORMAL... I WILL TRY AND FIGUER OUT WITH HER TODAY WHEN THAT HAPPENED WITH RELATION TO THE BUG KILLER.-- COULD BE HAVING FLEAS IS A BETTER CHOICE. AND I MAY GET BACK TO MY FLEA PICKING PROJECT .
***
I HAD A STUDY GOING -- THE SWIMMING FLEA SUBJECTS WERE CAPTURED WITH A FLEA COMB- THEN KEPT IN GDOG HAIR AND DANDER UNTIL I HAD ENOUGH... ETC....

WITH BAGS AND BOTTLES OF VARIOUS KINDS I TRIED TO DETERMINE IF THE SWIMMING FLEA WAS DROWNED BECASUE OF THE LACK OF SURFACE TENSION IN THE PRESENCE OF A DETERGENT-- OR WAS IT THE DETERGENT ITSELF...

I EXPANDED THAT TO OTHER CONCEPTS- INVOLVING THAT STRANGE "HIGH POWERED EARTH" OR WHATEVER IT IS...

THAT ALL CAME ABOUT BECAUSE THE CAPTURED FLEA DOES NOT DIE OFF WITH A SQUIRT OF RAID. NOR DO MOSQUITOS I HAVE PROVEN THAT ONE.

FORTUNATELY -- OR UNFORTUANTELY I DON'T THINK WE HAVE MANY FLEAS ON WHICH TO EXPERIMENT. BUT WE MAY SOON HAVE THEM IF WE DON'T USE THAT WIPE ON STUFF.

*************

AND BACK TO THE 990---I CAN NOT BELIEVE I DID NO BREAK OUT THE VARIOUS EXPENSES-- THERE IS A SECTION 9 WHERE YOU HAVE TO LIST EXPENSES- THEN PUT THE TOTALS ON PAGE 1 WITH ALL THE EXTRAS ON SCHEDULE O- POINT IS.. ALL THOSE THINGS ARE SUPPOSED TO TOTAL EXPENSES. FOR SOME REASON I DID NOT DO THE SECTION 9 OR SCHEDULE 0 WITH THAT IN MIND..

SO WE ARE SENDING IN A REVISED 990

IT MUST HAPPEN ALOT BECAUSE THAT IS THE FIRST QUESTION

" IS THIS A REVISED FORM?"

THE TOTAL WAS CORRECT-- BUT I HAD MADE NO ATTEMPT HAD BEEN MADE TO JUSTIFY IT.. THERE WAS AN INTERESTING $7 ERROR

THE PROBLEM WAS THE 7 BELONGED AT THE END OF 3268--- WHCH MADE FOR A $30,000 ERROR, NOT $7

***************

I COULD DO SEVERAL DAILY DOGGIES ON THE HUMOR INVOLVED WITH THE IRS FORMS...I REALLY TRY VERY HARD TO DO IT RIGHT-- BUT IN THE END I SEND IT AND SEE IF IT FLYS.

I HAVE A LITTLE OF THE "WHAT DO YOU EXPECT??? IT IS YOUR FAULT FOR NOT MAKING IT CLEAR TO ME"

IT IS PRETTY STRAIGHT FORWARD

PEOPLE DONATE, WE SPEND

THAT DOES NOT NEED ALL THOSE WORDS THE IRS PUTS FORTH LIKE TANNING SALONS...

******************

TODAY'S-- SCORE

TRACY JUST REPORTED

PILES OF POOP IN THE BARN  -- THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL THING WE HAVE HAD DAYS OF POOP THAT DID NOT PILE UUP...

AND NO VOMIT SEEN IN HER FIRST RUN THRU.

AND ALL ARE EATING...

WHAT MORE COULD WE ASK FOR.?

I AM NOT YELLING-- I CAN NOT SEE the small print

  1. Flea meds do have some pretty harsh chemicals in them. I've had several cats get sick after using a commercial flea collar or prescription flea meds. I don't use them any more. Here's an article about some natural alternatives. I don't know how well they work. http://www.care2.com/greenliving/5-solutions-for-natural-flea-control.html

It would be interesting if the behavioral changes were caused by the flea meds. Good luck!

    1. Absolutely agree about the harsh effects of the chemicals used in the flea and tick repellants. It is poison. My Newfoundland had the same symptoms: vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy..... She was obviously a huge dog and it was shocking that such a small amount of flea/tick repellant could have such a severe effect.

Nature's Remedy, definitely my choice to combat fleas/ticks!!!!!!!

  2. I lived in California for a time and had a huge flea problem with a dane and 3 long haired cats. Solution: a product called Natures Miracle, which we used on horses in the barn to keep flies away from their faces. It is an herbal spray, in a pump bottle and smells of lavender and camomile. I used it in the bath water to rinse the animals, and periodically sprayed them and rubbed it on their fur inbetween baths. Result, no fleas, ticks or other unwanted guests. No harsh chemicals so no side effects. You might be able to find it through Dominion Saddlery, or Dover Saddlery. It was made by a California company as I recall.

  4. I, ALSO, HAD A DOG WHO HAD THAT REACTION TO FLEA KILLER LIQUID: WILD DOG-LIKE PANIC, RUNNING AROUND THE HOUSE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD, NOT NORMAL FOR ABOUT A DAY, THEN BACK TO HIS NORMAL LOVELY SELF. I WASN'T CERTAIN THE FIRST TIME -- BECAUSE ALL THE LITERATURE AT THE TIME MADE NO MENTION OF SUCH A REACTION AND BECAUSE ROWDY WAS AN APTLY-NAMED LAB/CHOW/POSSIBLY BORDER COLLIE MIX AND LIVELY IN HIS NORMAL STATE. HOWEVER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED THE NEXT TIME AND I RESOLVED THERE WOULD NEVER BE A THIRD. SOME TIME LATER I BEGAN TO READ REPORTS OF SUCH EXTREME REACTIONS ON THE INTERNET.
I THINK CERTAIN DOGS ARE MUCH MORE SENSITIVE TO THESE CHEMICALS, SO I'D CERTAINLY BEWARE FOR THEM. I SUPPOSE FOR THE OTHERS ONE WOULD HAVE TO BALANCE THE DANGERS OF THE FLEAS AND TICKS THE DOGS MIGHT BE EXPOSED TO AGAINST THE DANGERS OF THE CHEMICALS. I'VE STOPPED USING AS MANY CHEMICALS AS I CAN MYSELF, AND NO LONGER APPLY ANY TO ANIMALS.

  5. We used flea and tick meds on our dogs and they both ended up with a bad rash and lost patches of hair....lord knows what that stuff has in it, so many unnecessary chemicals. I'm glad to hear that all the pups are on the med for you guys though!

  6. I had a big problem with fleas and my dogs would have severe reactions to any treatment I gave them. My friend suggested I treat the yard, not the dogs, and recommended an insect killer at Lowe's. I treated the back yard and made my dogs go to the front yard for about a week. Then I treated the front yard as they returned to the back yard. I haven't had a flea problem since and it's been two years. My neighbor tried the same thing and his flea problem went away also.

    Good luck!

  7. *USING CAPS FOR CARLENE'S SAKE*

WITH MY PIT BULL, WE COULD ONLY USE ADVANTAGE, ANYTHING ELSE MADE HER BREAKOUT IN HORRIBLE HIVES. IF WE APPLIED JUST BETWEEN HER SHOULD BLADES, AND NO FURTHER DOWN THE BODY, SHE COULDN'T LICK IT AND IT AVOIDED THE WHOLE DOGGY FEELING SICK ISSUE. WE USE FIPROGUARD FOR OUR CURRENT DOG, AND IT TAKES LONGER FOR ALL THE FLEAS TO DIE, BUT ONCE THEY DO, HE'S BEEN FLEA FREE FOR AWHILE. I TAKE THE FLEA COMB TO HIM PERIODICALLY TOO. ANOTHER WHERE YOU HAVE TO KEEP IT HIGH UP THE BODY WHERE THERE'S NO CHANCE OF THEM LICKING IT. I WONDER ONE THOSE PILLS TO KILL FLEAS WOULD WORK WITH THEM...

THE ONLY TIME OUR DOG HAS HAD THOSE EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS, WAS WHEN HE FOUND SOME FERNS HE COULD GET TOO. FERNS CAN BE TOXIC, SO IT MIGHT NOT HURT TO HAVE SOMEONE CHECK FOR FERNS ANYWHERE THE DOGS COULD GET TO. JUST A THOUGHT, HOPING THAT THE DOGGIES ALL GET WELL AND STAY THAT WAY. :)

  8. I used promeris once on my 75lb weimeraner and for 36 hours he was very lethargic and wouldn't even eat. We have heartworm and ticks really bad in our area, so even though he is an inside dog, we go on walks in the woods and I use K9 advantix and I think it also affects him the first 24 hours. :( I hate poisons. I too treated my yard years ago when we had an infestation of fleas and it worked great. Still is. I was using heartgard and it now is getting a failure rate pretty high in S MO.
