JUNE 23, 2013

TODaY IS--UB DAY-  ( USEFUL BOX DAY) I DON'T KNOW WHY IT TOOK ME SO LONG TO REMEMBER--- THE TABLE AT THE T TENT IS CLUTTERED WITH NECESSITIES OF BEING A PORTABLE OFFICE-- AND THERE IS ALWAYS THE THREAT OF A SANDSTORM OFF THE SAND OF THE   RIDING RING... I KNEW I WAS COLLECTING THOSE PRETZEL JARS FOR SOMETHING.. A PORTABLE JUNK DRAWER PENS STAPLER SCISSORS MEASURING TAPE-- 2 BAINDAIDS AND A ROLL OF TAPE. THINGS LIKE THAT-
I EXPECT OUR EFFICIENDCY TO GO THRU THE ROOF.
-----
WE ARE MINUS SOME CRITICAL LELP TODAY - BOTH MEAT CUTTERS ARE AWOL AND MARK IS NOT COOKING..WE HAD TO CALL OUT THE EMERGENCY CREW ( SHELIA AND I-- THE 2 ORIGIONAL MEAT CUTTERS WHO RAN THAT WOOD CHIPPER IN THE HOUSE-- WHICH IS WHY WE HAVE DRIED BEEF ON THE RAFTERS)
AND I HAVE THAWED THE BIG CHUNK OF A CP's INDIANNA CHILLI FOR FOOD --
---- ( STILL NO ASTERISKS)
PETER LEFT WITH OLIVER-- AND HIS WIFE ---- TO GO TO THEIR HOME IN MAINE-- THEY ARE OFTEN DOWN THIS WAY AS THEY HAVE A PLACE ON PLUMB ISLAND. I THINK HE CAN MEET THE GOALS SET IN HIS APPLICATION-- I HAVE THREATENED THEM WITH THE CURSE OF THE FIRE ANTS IF THEY DO NOT STAY IN TOUCH-- OLIVER IS A HUGE FAVORITE OF ALL THE VOLUNTEERS- SO WE NEED TO KNOW.
-----
AND THE BED PROJECT... MAYBE KURANDA COULD PUT TOGETHER A HUGE REPLICA OF THIER BEDS FOR US TO USE IN PARADES-- AND HERE INTHE YARD.. THEY WOULD HAVE TO HAVE SOME KIND OF TIDY SIGN ON THE RAIL.. I HAVE VISION OF 4" PVC OR MAYBE 6"-- HOLDING UP WHAT LOOKS LIKE A FLOOR SO IT LOOKS LIKE IT IS STANDING .. .
IT SHOULD BE A REPLICA OF ONE OF THIER BUNK BEDS SO IT WOULD STILL PROVIDE THE SHADE...- I AM NOT SURE WE COULD PUT A DOG IN THE UPPER BUNK- BUT WE SURE COULD PUT A STUFFED BEAR UP THERE.... IN JAMMIES...
OH DEAR ... I AM OFF AND RUNNING.. WE COULD HAVE NIGHT CAPS ON THEM---- MADE LIKE THE ANTLERS-- AT LEAST FOR A STILL SHOT...
DON'T FORGET WE HAVE 2 OF THOSE HEAVY DUTY WAGONS THAT FOLLOW INTHE TRACKS OF THE TOWING VEHICLE--( PLUS 3 LIGHTER ONES)
WINNER OF THE KURANDA BED CONTEST ????? SIGN
ALL SIZE BEDS FOR ALL DOGS?????-- OR SOME SUCH...
IT IS A START OF AN IDEA... KEEP WORKING ON IT
JAMMIES WOULD HAVE TO BE SEWN SPECIALLY-- BECAUSE FROM MY YEARS OF DOING PHOTO'S FOR DOG CLOTHING CATALOGS I KNOW ALL THOSE PHOTO'S WERE POSSIBLE ONLY AFTER WE SLIT THE JACKETS AND DUCT TAPED THEM TO THE MODEL DOG.
THE MFG NEVER REALIZED THE LONG DISTANCE OVER THE BACK OF A DOG ....
---------
SUNDY STEWING PER USUAL--

AND PI IS DUE TO ARRIVE FOR HER " CONFINEMENT????" DO THEY STILL CALL IT THAT????
-------------
IS THERE ANYONE COMING TO THE STEW TODAY WHO IS A PROFESSIONAL HAIR CUTTER? I AM NEARLY DESPARATE....

FROM BONNIE'S RESEARCH DEPARTMENT...
Carlene,
I have a fly trap report. I have been under the weather and am starting to wonder if I have low grade Lymes. I figured that the traps could be tested on my bugs as well as yours.
Anyway,
*I did get another of the yeast/water traps made. Result- a loser. I think the carbon dioxide production ceases if trap goes below 50 degrees. What do people expect?
*ordinary soda bottle trap with the yeast/sugar water and chunk of meat suspended on fishing line and safety pin. Surprisingly, this one was a flop.
*dirty sock trap. Unfortunately I didn't think of the safety pin and fishing line trick and the sock fell into the yeast solution. A flop. Might be worth trying with sock suspended better.

*Most promising. soda bottle trap with plain water. Mosquito lays eggs in/on water. The egg/larva sinks to bottom of bottle. Larva does its developmental things at bottom of bottle. When it is ready to surface and fly away to annoy us it does not escape because of the inverted cone of the soda bottle.
This trap seems worthy of further testing and is non-poisonous for the animals. -----
BONNIE... I HATE TO TEMPT FATE... BUT WE HAVE HAD DAMN FEW MOSQUITOS SO FAR.. SO YOUR TEST MAY NEED TO BE REPEATED..
EVEN MY FAN/NET CONTRAPTION HAS ONLY A FEW..
AND THE ULTIMATE TEST
WE ATE LOBSTER IN THE T TENT THE OTHER NIGHT WITHOUT ONE BUG.

OR DID THEY???

I AM NOT YELLING-
- I CAN NOT SEE the small print

  2. CARLENE HAS BONNIE TIRED APPLE CIDER VINEGAR? i USE APPLE CIDER VINEGAR AND A FEW DROPS OF LIQUID DISH SOAP. THIS IS 1 WAY TO DO IT WITH WINE BOTTLES, BEER BOTTLE OR ANY BOTTLE WITH A NECK: http://www.hometalk.com/1675231/wine-bottle-fruit-fly-trap

IT WORKS FOR FLIES, MOSQUITOES, GRAIN BUGS ETC YOU JUST TOSS THE BOTTLE WHEN IT GETS TOO MANY DEAD BUGS IN IT.

YOU CAN ALSO USE A LARGER CONTAINER LIKE A CUP, ADD THE APPLE CIDER VINEGAR AND SOAP AND COVER LOOSELY WITH PLASTIC WRAP. POKE A SMALL HOLE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WRAP. PUSH THE PLASTIC WRAP INTO THE CONTAINER TO MAKE A KIND OF FUNNEL. IT SHOULDN'T TOUCH THE LIQUID. SECURE WITH A RUBBER BAND.

I LIKE METHOD 1 BECAUSE IT'S EASIER AND I GET TO DRINK THE WINE :)
