JULY 18, 2013
TV TELLS ME 90+ FOR WEATHER???? THAT DICTATES TODAY WILL BE TRYING TO KEEP A BUNCH OF BLACK DOGS OUT OF THE SUN-- THEIR BACKS GET ALMOST TOO HOT TO TOUCH... SO LOTS SPRAY BOTTLES-- MISTERS-- FANS AND A/C'S TODAY TO KEEP ALL THAT RUNNING THERE WON'T BE TIME FOR MUCH ELSE.

BIGGEST NEWS--

BUCKWHEAT LOST HIS CHANCE TO FILL MARY'S SHOES.. HE IS GONG BACK TO TENN- THE BUS MAY PICK HIM UP TODAY THERE ARE FEW PROBLEMS I AM NOT WILLING TO RISK. HE DOES HAVE AN ATTITUDE OF DOMINANCE-- PROBABLY COMES FROM BEING A FULL MALE FOR TOO LONG. THE FIRST PROBLEM I NOTICED IS YOU CAN NOT MOVE HIM SIDEWAYS-- DOESN'T SOUND LIKE MUCH-- BUT WHEN I WOULD ASK HIM TO MOVE HIS REAR SIDEWAYS BY PUSHING ON IT, HE WOULD QUICKLY PUSH RIGHT BACK WITH A "DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO".... JANINE WALKED HIM AROUND AND TRIED TO GET HIM TO TAKE HER SERIOUSLY ON A LEAD.. SHE HAD THE FEELING HE WAS JUST BIDING HIS TIME LOOKING FOR HER GUARD TO BE DOWN.. WITH MARY IT WAS A GAME- USUALLY FOOD ORIENTED.. WITH BUCKWHEAT IT HAS A SERIOUS FEEL TO IT.... SINCE HE IS A BIG ANIMAL- IT IS NO JOKE.

THEN HE CAME ACROSS THE PARKING LOT TO TROMP A PUP ( WHO SEEMS FINE NOW)- AND THEN HE BIT SHELIA- WHO WAS JUST SCRATCING HIS NECK...

SO JANINE CALLED HER TRAQILER CONTACT THAT DRIVES BACK AND FORTH WEEKLY- SHE WAS GOING TO TRY AND GET HIM ON THE TRAILER TODAY.

IN THE MEANTIME-- HE IS IN THE MIDDLE STALL/PASTURE - DO NOT GET WITHING BITING DISTANCE -

THE PART THT REALLY WORRIES ME... IS
HORSES NIP/PINCH ETC AND LET GO. AN D THEY ARE KNOW FOR BITING/

A DONKEY IS NOT KNOWN FOR BITING... BUT WHEN THEY DO THEY HANG ON AND DRAG THEIR PREY AROUND. I HAVE BEEN ON THE RECIEVING END OF THAT PERFORMANCE ONCE AND I NEVER WANT TO BE IN THAT SPO T AGAIN.

THEY ARE USED IN HERDS OF SHEEP TO PROTECT THEM BY KILLING WOLVES- BUCKWHEAT SHOULD GET HIMSELF A JOB DOING THAT...

SO HE GOES BACK... THANK HEAVENS- AND GROVER SAID HE WOULD KEEP HIS EYES OPEN FOR SOMETHIG ELSE TO TRY.. MAYBE STAY WITH THE FEMALES-- JENNY'S

THAT IS NOT AN AUTOMATIC EITHER BECAUSE THAT SPOTTED JENNY WE HAD HERE FOR A WHILE AND GAVE TO MYOPIA HAD THAT SAME DEFINSIVE LOOK TO HER-- WHICH IS WHY SHE MOVED ALONG..- WE NEED A VERY SPECIAL DONKEY-- IT MAY TAKE US A WHILE-

***************

THE HOT THAT WE ARE DEALING WITH TODAY MAY ALSO BRING ON THE BUGS-- SO FAR THIS YEAR WE HAVE HAD VERY FEW. I REDALIZE I AM TEMPTING FATE... SOMETHING I HESITATE TO DO. TO THAT END I DID NOT THROW OUT THE 1/2 GAL COKE BOTTLE.

AND I WIL PUT UP THE PENNIES IN TH EPLASTIC BAG BIT... I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT CONCEPT-- BUT MAY AS WELL TRY- I KNOW THE PLASTIC BOTTLES WITH THE TOPS CUT OFF AND I NVERTED WORK WONDERFULLY AS LONG AS THEY ARE BAIED WITH SOMETHING VERY ATTRACTIVE TO FLYS..AND FYI NOT ALL DOGGIE DOO IS ATTRACTIVE.. I HAVE ALWAYS WONDERED WHY- IF THERE ARE 4 DISTINCT PILES WAITING TO BE PICKED UP ON THE DECK, THE FLYS WILL BE ALL OVER ONE PILE AND NONE ON THE OTHER 3.. THE ONLY OTHER PIECE OF INFO I ASSOCIATE WITH THIS "ATTRACTIVE SH#T" STUDY IS SOMETHING ABOUT DOGS NOT DIGESTING THE PROTIEN IN THE WHITE OF AN EGG.. MAKING THEM INCLINED TO EAT THEIR POO.

ALL UNFOUNDED RUMOR.. HOWEVER FLYS DO MAKE A DECISION AS TO WHICH PILE IS APPROVED.

BAIT THAT BOTTLE CORRECTLY AND I HAVE HAD 4" WEEKLY OF THOUSANDS OF DEAD FLYS--- THE BLACK SHINEY KIND.

THUS ENDETH THE BUG LESSON FOR THE DAY

***************

MY CHIPPED FRONT TOOTH IS NOW REPAIRED-- NEITHER THE DENTIST OR HER ASSISTANT KNEW ABOUT EXP[LORE-- BUT BOTH HAD SEEN A DANE SERVICE DOG IN A STORE IN THE PAST WEEK.

****

AS I WANDER I AM GETTING MORE OF THE "I SAW A DANE SERVICE DOG AND WONDERED IF IT WAS YOURS" I THINK WE ARE NERLY THE ONLY ONES WITH DOGS OUT WORKING.

PI'S OWNER IS TRYING TO START "WALK" WITH HIS FRIEND MIKE.

I THINK THAT IS WHAT THEY HAVE IN MIND FOR THE 4 PUPS OF PI'S THAT THEY WILL BE GETTING.

 *****************

NOW ABOUT THE FEEDING OF MERLOW'S PUPS-- WITH THE GROUND UP PUPPY FOOD AND GOATS MILK... TAKING IN TO ACCOUNT THE SMEARING FACTOR.. TODAY I WILL START WITH 6 OZ WATER, 1 AND A HALF CUPW OF GOATS MILK- AND A HUGE HEAPING TABLESPOON OF GROUND UP PUPPY FOOD. THE PUPS HAD A GOOD STRT WITH STEPH AND NOW IT IS POSSIBLE TO CONSIDER HOW MUCH FOOD THEY ACTULLY SWALLOW- AS OPPOSED TO SMEAR...

 ******************

I AM NOW ON PUPPY DUTY

HOPEFULLY VOLUNTEERS WILL ARIVE THIS MORNING TO TKE OVER.

P.S WE HAVE DELIVERED CHAOS TO PAUL AND EARLENE-- SHE HAS BEEN TERRIBLY BORED AROUND HERE- SO THEY TOOK HER FOR  A FEW DAYS.

  1. Hi Carlene,
Not sure if you have been getting our updates about Pandora. Here is the last one I sent, minus the pictures.

    Hi Carlene,

Here are some pictures of Pandora on her first visit to a school. She was terrific with all the teachers and staff, but the kids were finished and the building pretty empty so it wasn't so overwhelming for her. She walked with me the whole time, never left my side and didn't need a leash. Fantastic.

She takes her first test on Tuesday for the first 8 week program. Then we go on for another 8 weeks. Pandora is very in tune to the people around her and does grumble at certain individuals. Here is what we have discovered:

She doesn't like anyone to do handstands, she runs at them and barks.

A three year old jumping on her bed outside isn't what she feels is good behavior and let him know. She sounded very vicious but the three year old didn't even seem to notice. I think he's got her number.

A nice man called us into his garage on one of our walks and loved her. He told us a story of how he always wanted a Dane but his wife said no. He wanted to show his wife Pandora so went inside to get her. As soon as the wife came out Pandora started grumbling!! Tell me dogs don't know.

Every morning she greets me like we haven't seen each other in years. What a wonderful way to start my day.

Our chocolate lab keeps taking the ball over to Pandora, but Pandora has no idea what she is suppose to do with it. When we throw it she just watches it go up in the sky and then looks at us as if to say, What do you expect me to do now?

She is adjusting well and seems very happy.

You sound way too busy, take it easy and don't forget to relax once in a while.

    Debbie and Mike

  2. Second update on Pandora:
    Hi Carlene,

Just wanted to give you an update on the amazing Pandora. She passed her first set of classes with almost a perfect score. They want her head by my hip when she walks, and of course the middle of her back is by my hip ... since that is how she was trained. So instead of changing we took the hit on points!!!

The pictures are from a walk this weekend. It's along the Niagara river and Pandora loves to watch the geese and ducks. She is really a great dog to walk and stays with us all the time. If we think of leaving her behind at home she gets upset.

Now that she has finished one course I am going to call a few Nursing homes to see if we can come in to practice. She is great in the stores, walking and at home. But I haven't done anything yet with visitations. So that is next.

All the puppies look amazing on camera. I hope you caught up with your sleep. I saw the picture of you with the bubble wrap above you head ... I laughed out loud.

    See you soon,
    Debbie...

  3. HEY, CARLENE... WASN'T MARY VERY YOUNG WHEN YOU GOT HER? MAYBE YOU SHOULD GET A YOUNG DONKEY WHO CAN GROW UP AROUND THE DOGS AND PUPS. THAT COULD HAVE BEEN THE SECRET TO THE SPIRIT THAT MARY HAD AROUND THE PUPS.

    JUST A THOUGHT....
