SEPT 25 2014
instead of the daily doggie  maybe i sholUd call this one  TODAYS TIRADE..

WE HAVE LUKE IN TH E HOUSE...  IN THE  BARN/FEED ROOM HE WAS TOTALLY CONFUSED BACKING AWAY CLEARLY SAYING "I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT IS HAPPENING AND IF I JUST GET HIDDEN MAYB IT WILL ALL GO AWAY. "
HE NEVER OFFERED TO BITE, JUST ONE BIG "WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON"

SOMETHING HAPPENED- ACCIDENTS DO HAPPEN TO ALL OF THEM.. BUT WHATEVER IT WAS , NOBODY EXPLAINED IT TO HIM.
SO NOW HE IS IN HE HOUSE-- AND AFTER DONNA SAT WITH HIM DURING MAIL CALL, HE RELAXED AN NOW WAGS HIS TAIL AND ENJOYS THE PERSON GOING BY PATTING HIM..

WE WILL SEE IF THAT LASTS FOR THE DAY- BUT AT ANY RATE HE WAS MUCH IMPROVED..

MAYBE WHATEVER HAPPENED WAS JUST NOT NOTICED.  WE MISSED THE BOAT SOMEHOW...
AT SOME POINT WE SHOULD HAVE STOPPED AND HAD A CONVERSATION WITH LUKE....
( YOU GOT IT... THIS IS GOING SOMEWHERE)

THESE CAMERAS...ARE   WONDERFUL ---  I CAN SIT HERE AND SEEE ALL KINDS OF THINGS.
OF LATE---  AND THERE ARE 2 KINDS OF  PEOPLE AROUND HER   PAID AND VOLUNTEER.
AND DIFFERENT RULES HAVE TO APPLY.. VOLUNTEERS CAN DO WHATEVER THEY WANT ... ALMOST.... BUT IF YOU ARE ON THE PAYROLL AND ON THE PHONE, WE NEED TO  BRING THIS BAD HABIT TO YOUR ATTENTION.

I WATCHED ONE OF THE STAFF  PUT A DOG BACK IN A KENNEL--SHE WAS READY WITH THE HAND FED TREAT  ON WHICH I INSIST...  BUT THERE WAS NO HEAD PAT-- GOOD DOG REWARD- BECAUSE... ?READY FOR THI ONE?  SHE WAS ON THE PHONE WHICH SHE WAS HOLDING BETWEEN HER SHOULDER AND HEAD.

THAT STARTED ME.....  THIS IS A JOB...AN IT DEMANDS SOMEONE'S  FULL ATTENTION...SO I HAVE MADE A POINT OF WATCHING HOW MUCH TIME SDP IS PAYING SOMEONE  AT WHICH TIME THEY ARE NOT PHYSICALLY OR MENTALLY GIVING IT THEIR ALL BECAUSE THEY ARE ON THE  CELL PHONE.

SO I HAVE BEEN LISTENING-- EAVES DROPPING YOU SAY??   I DIDN'T GO OUT OF MY WAY PEOPE ARE ON THESE THINGS ALL AROUND ME-- I MADE NO SPECIAL EFFORT TO EAVES DROP... AND I AM HARD OF HEARNG TO SAY THE LEAST...

AND I HAVE LEARNED
MEGAN USES HER PHONE TO STAY IN TOUCH  WITH THE 1000 THINGS SHE STAYS IN TOUCH WITH-- AND 98% SEEM DOG RELATED.  OCASIONALLY A QUICK BIT ABOUT WHERE SHE IS HAVING SUPPER... BUT MOSTLY DOG RELATED.

THE REST OF THE PHONE CONVERSATIONS REALLY MADE ME MAD -
TO THINK THEY WERE IN ANY WAY MORE IMPORTANT-  THAN  MAYBE EXPLAINING TO LUKE WHAT HAD FRIGHTENED HIM...

THE REASONING "MY CHILDREN MIGHT NEED TO GET IN TOUCH WITH ME" HOLDS VERY LITTLE WATER-- THE SOLUTION TO THAT IS TO HAVE WHOEVER IS WATCHING THE PUPS, KEEP ALL THE PHONES AND ANSWER THEM  IN CASE OF THAT EMERGENCY.  THERE WAS A REAL LIFE BEFORE CELL PHONES..

I WOUL D LOVE TO BE THAT PUPPY WATCHER AND ANSWER THE PHONES "MAY I TAKE A MESSAGE? SHE IS WORKING."

"I NEED TO TALK TO HER, I CAN NOT FIND MY OTHER SNEAKER"  WOULD GET MY  ANSWER.

SO IN  AN EFFORT TO DEAL WITH THIS PROBLEM... I NEED REAL FACTS...
IF SOMEONE IS ON THE PHONE WHILE ON THE PAYROLL,  IT SEEMS I SHOULD KNOW  WHAT THE CALL HAD TO DO WITH SERVICE DOG  PROJECT.

MAYBE I JUST NEED MORE FACTS.... SO I WILL BE COLLECTING THEM...

IF I AM NOT ASKING, I AM CERTAINLY THINKING ABOUT IT.  AND CAMERA WATCHING MAKES IT VERY EASY.
***********
I MUST PREFACE THIS NEXT WITH THE  FACT THAT  THE NEXT ARE GENERIC WORK  OBSERVATIONS WHICH IN NO WAY ARE SDP ORIENTEED -- MORE  FROM MY EXPERIENCES AT THE WANT ADVERITISER
***************
A FEW OTHER WORK RELATED OBSERVATIONS--

NONE OF OUR TRAINERS SMOKE-- I DON'T THINK... BUT ANOTHER FACT THAT GOES THRU MY HEAD IS... NOW THAT SMOKING IS DONE OUTSIDE BUILDINGS, IF YOU HIRE A PERSON WHO HAS TO GO HAVE A CIGARETTE EVERY 2 HOURS, THAT IS 20 MINUTES OFF THIER JOB

THAT IS 20 MINUTES OUT OF 120
SO IF  THEIR SALARY IS $ 600 A WEEK IT IS COSTING YOU 1/6th MORE ... OR $700

I HAVE THIS KIND OF CONVERSATION WITH MARK ALL THE TIME.  HE RUNS A FAIRLY BIG SIZE BUSINESS...

**************

I HAD THIS PROBLEM WHEN I WORKED FOR THE WANT ADveritser  COMPANY( A BOSTON MAGAZINE) I RARELY WENT TO THEIR OFFICE-- BUT I REMEMBER BEING SHOCKED AT THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO PUNCHED IN WITH THEIR  TAKE OUT BREAKFASTS IN THE OTHER HAND- AND THEN SAT DOWN TO EAT.. WITH NO REGARD TO THE FACT THAT  THEY WERE "STEALING" FROM THE COMPANY BY  PUNCHING IN AND NOT WORKING.

*************
ANOTHER FAVORITE OF MINE HAS BEEN FOR YEARS--- AND DRUMMED INTO MY CHILDREN...

IF YOU ARE HIRED FOR 9 TO 5 ---AT 9 YOU SHOULD BE THERE READY TO PRODUCE WHATEVER.. SOMEONE WHO IS CONSTANTLY 5  TO 10 MINUTES LATE DOES NOT HAVE THE PROPER RESPECT FOR TH EJOB.... ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE NEVER 5 - 10 MINUTES EARLY. AND PUNCH OUT AT 5:01.  IF YOU ARE CONSTANTLY 15 MIUNTES EARLY  YOUR BOSS WILL NOTICE -- MOSTLY BECAUSE YOU WILL BE THE ONLY ONE THERE...PEOPLE SEEM TO FIGURE THE 9:00 IS THE SAME AS 9:15.      TRY 15 MINUTES LATE FOR AN AIRPLANE.

"TRAFFIC WAS BAD"  IT IS ALWYAS BAD-- WHY SHOULD THE BAD TRAFFIC COST THE EMPLOYER- GET UP EARLIER.
**************

OTHER THAN THAT.... EVERYTHING IS FINE.... LUKE IS BETTER....

  1. Oh Wow Carlene, this was a great DD (tirade). You said all the things I'm always saying about where I work. Cell phones - constantly on them, carrying them with you everywhere you go and talking on them while you are doing other work. They say they are multi-tasking but I read somewhere that we really aren't capable of multi-tasking, one or the other task suffers. AND my Dad (rip) always said 9:00 o'clock doesn't mean you are there getting your coffee, 9:00 o'clock means you are at your desk ready to work. There was a life before cell phones wasn't there? Glad Luke is bettter. I have a scary dog and I understand explaining to her what has scared her. Some things, it doesn't help, i.e. thunder, other things like a falling pan, it helps. Keep up your good work.

  2. Very happy to read that Luke is better. I have to say that I'm one of the older generation - almost 66. I grew up without a cell phone and fought getting one for years. The only people who have that number are work, my husband, siblings and a very few close friends. That being said, they know that it is mostly turned off. It's NEVER on when I work.

I have an unusual job - a freelance court stenographer. I go into different offices to take verbatim depositions and other pre-trial work. As far as I'm concerned, if I am not there 15 minutes before I'm told the job will start, then I'm late. My machine has to be set up, I need to know the name of the case and who the parties are represented by, the names of the people in the room - and then a pre-emptive visit to the ladies room so that the morning coffee I had on the way to the job doesn't interrupt the job.

I am continually annoyed by people who think every call is an emergency and more important than what they are doing. My attitude is if you're working, then you need to work - not eat, smoke and talk on the phone (or play games with that phone) And when you are out with people say to dinner or lunch - your focus should be the people you're with and not the @#$%! phone!

Oh, and I originally got one cause I was driving a 12 year old car that had over 150,000 miles on it and sometimes I drive a lot of miles to get to a job. Otherwise, I wouldn't have the darned thing now. In my opinion, they are for true emergencies!

And you can rant anytime you want. I understand and agree.

That said, have a great day and keep up the good work!!!!
