APRIL 10 2016
VENTING TIME--   I HAVEN'T BEEN MAD  IN A WHILE- SO HERE WE GO...

YOU KNOW ... I WROTE A LONG DESCRIPTION OF AN INCIDENT AND NOW I AM AFRAID TO PUT IT IN THE DD FOR FEAR SOMEONE WILL TAKE PIECES OF IT  DISTORTING THE ACTUAL CONTENT MAKING A LEGAL MESS.

I GUESS ALL I  CAN SAY IS WE HAVE  TO PROTECT OUR DOGS FROM  ANYONE  WHO FEELS THEY NEED TO MUZZLE SUCH  A BIG DOG
WE NOW NEED TO ADD MUZZLE TRAINING TO OUR CIRRICULUM- SO THEY CAN GRACEFULLY ACCEPT  THE APPLICATION  OF A MUZZLE. A MUZZLE CAN MAKE A DOG PANIC----- A LARGE DOG IN PANIC MODE IS A HUGE FLYING OBJECT WITH THE MOMENTUM OF A BOWLING BALL.

IN GENERAL-- IN BLAND  APPLESAUCE TYPE TERMS....IF YOU ARE USED TO JACK RUSSEL TERRIERS THAT ARE NOTORIOUS NIPPERS AND BITERS- (THEY WERE BRED FOR THAT ) AND YOU WANT TO CUT THEIR TOENAILS IT OFTEN MAKES SENSE  TO JUST SLAP A  MUZZLE ON THEM BEFORE YOU EVEN START-- BASED ON THEIR ABILITY  TO SNAP AT FINGERS... YOU THEN JUST HANG ON TOTHE 15 OR SO POUNDS OF  CONFUSED DOG TIL THEY SETTLE DOWN.

NOW IF YOU GET USED TO THAT CONCEPT- WITHOUT THINKING TOO CLEARLY AND TAKE ONE LOOK AT A DOG THE SIZE OF BENTLEY AND FIGURE "BETTER SLAP A MUZZLE ON TO PROTECT EVERYONE"  YOU WOULD GET THE MUZZLE ON , BUT THEN YOU WOULD HAVE TO CONTEND WITH 165 POUNDS OF FLYING DOG AS HE WOULD  BE  LEAPING AROUND ON 3 LEGS TRYING  TO GET ONE DEW CLAW  CAUGHT IN THE MUZZLE TO PULL IT OFF
ADD TO THAT THE COMPLICATION OF A SMALL AREA-- LIKE AN ELEVATOR OR A VETS OFFICE  - AND YOU COULD REALLY HAVE A MESS... WITH BLACK EYES ETC....
A MESS NOT THE FAULT OF THE DOG --BUT WOULD SCARE THE SHAT OUT OF EVERYONE INVOLVED.....

SCARED PEOPLE DON'T BEHAVE WELL EITHER  AND SPREAD ALL KINDS OF  RUMORS ABOUT POORLY BEHAVED DOGS
... CAN YOU IMAGINE ANYONE CALLING A  LOVELY DOG LIKE GEORGE  OR BENTLEY DANGEROUS AND AGGRESSIVE?

CERTAINLY  I TOOK SOME AWFUL BITES FROM BENTLEY IN THAT ELEVATOR ACCIDENT-  NOT HIS FAULT- BUT ENOUGH TO STOP ME FROM  PUTTING HIM IN AN ELEVATOR WITH OTHER PEOPLE IN CASE HE DID HAVE A FLASHBACK...

PEOPLE CAN CAUSE DOGS TO REACT NORMALLY IN DOG TERMS-- AND THEN DEMAND THE DOG ASSUME PEOPLE TERMS OR THE DOG IS AT FAULT...

I BETTER GO FIND SOME COFFEE WITH WHIPPED CREAM AND SOME COMFORT FOOD.

  1. CARLENE,
GOOD FOR YOU! YOU SHOULD BE STEAMING MAD.
YOU RAISE AND TRAIN THESE DOGS, KNOW MORE ABOUT THIS BREED THAN ANYONE I HAVE COME ACROSS. MORE ABOUT MOST ALL ANIMALS THAN MY VET. EXPERIENCE HAS TAUGHT YOU MANY LESSONS, WHICH YOU GLADLY SHARE WITH US.
THE INTERNET IS A GOOD THING IN THE RIGHT HANDS, AND AN EVIL IN THE WRONG HANDS. FOR SOMEONE TO TAKE YOUR WORDS AND TWIST THEM FOR THEIR OWN AGENDA IS A VIOLATION AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED.

I DONT BELIEVE EVERY DOG SHOULD BE MUZZLED. YES THERE ARE DOGS WHO SHOULD BE, AS YOUR EXAMPLE SHOWS. BUT TO MUZZLE A DOG JUST BECAUSE OF ITS SIZE IS CRUEL. THE TRAINING THESE DOGS HAVE HAD TEACHES THEM BEHAVIOR IN PUBLIC SPACES, WITH DOG LOVERS AND DOG HATERS. IF SOMEONE IS FEARFUL OF A DOG, THEY SHOULD STAY AWAY.
UNDER ANY TRAUMATIC CIRCUMSTANCE YOU CAN NOT PREDICT WHAT ANY ANIMAL WILL DO. BENTLEY WAS BEING TORTURED BY AN UNKNOWN SOURCE. HIS BODY REACTED IN A MANNER TO THE TRAUMA. AS SOON AS HE WAS IN CONTROL OF HIS BODY, HE RETURNED TO HIS GENTLE SELF.

WHATEVER YOU NEED FOR US THE CP'S TO DO, PLEASE TELL US. WE WANT TO SUPPORT YOUR EFFORTS IN HELPING PEOPLE LIVE BETTER LIVES.

I AM SORRY YOU HAVE HAD TO DEAL WITH THIS KIND OF NEGATIVE INFORMATION, ESPECIALLY DEALING WITH YOUR ANIMALS. BLESS YOU.
