MANY WOOWOOWOO'S ON PAM'S NEW WEB PAGE-- IT IS A THING OF BEAUTY....
PUPPY SPOON FEEDING IS COMING ALONG... WE HAD SEVERAL CASES OF BABY FOOD DELIVERED SO EVERY TIEM WE CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE TO DO ... WE SPOON FEED.. TEH "GIFTS" HAVE SOM E CATCHING UP TO DO... TO BE ABLE TO MIX TEH GROUPS..
I WILL TRY AN DMIX LITTERS AROUND NOONTIME-- JUST BEFORE NUTTY PROF AT 1:00 ... IF NOTHING ELSE HAPPENS....
IN THE MEANTIME GABBY HAS GONE HOME TO PERCOLATE-- AND MISCHA HAS "STARTED" WHICH MEANS WE SHOLD GET A NOTE TO JASPER THAT HE IS ON DECK STRATING THIS WEEKEND--
THAT "COUPLE" DUN GUD WITH THE AIRPLANE BUNCH-- ZEPPLIN, GRUMMAN, WILBUR, PILOT ETC... SO WE HAVE SOME --PROBABLY COMING ALONG ABOUT APRIL FOOLS DAY.. AND MISCHA'S BUNCH AROUNC TAX TIME...
SO YOU WANT TO BUILD A GARAGE....WITHOUT A BUILDING INSPECTOR... ? --- SOMEWHERE IN MY CAREER I HAD A BET WITH SOME GUY THAT I COULD BUILD A GARAGE IN LESS THAN A WEEK IF I DIDN'T HAVE TO PUT ON THE SHINGLES.-- AND I DID-- IT IS THE YELLOW "SHOP" -- AND SINCE EXPERIENCE COMES FROM BAD EXPERIENCES, I THOUGHT A FEW WORDS OF MY EXPERIENCES MIGHT BE APPROPRIATE...
FIRSTLY PLYWOOD COMES IN 4 X 8 SHEETS SO PLAN THE BUILDING LIKE 12 FOOT BY 20 FEET SAVES ALOT OF CUTTING--ALSO AN 8' CIELING-- SAME REASON
YOU CAN POUR TEH CONCRETE YOURSELF -- BUT THAT REQUIRES ABSOLUTE MATHMATICAL ACCURACY, BECAUSE WHEN YOU CALL THE CONCRETE COMPANY AND SAY YOU WANT 4.2 YARDS OF CONCRETE, THAT IS WHAT YOU WILL GET.... SO IF YOU ONLY NEEDED 3.2 YARDS, YOU WILL HAVE- SOMEWHERE ON THE PROPERTY A FREEFORM LUMP OF CONCRETE-- BECAUSE-- RULE OF LAW... THAT TRUCK GOES HOME EMPTY... THAT UNEVEN CRACKED UP CONCRETE PAD OUTSIDE TEH LAUNDRY BUILDING IS WHERE MY FIRST MATH ERROR LANDED.
SO GET THE PROFESSIONALS TO DO THE CONCRETE PART IF YOU CAN.. LIKE I DID FOR STEVE AND ANNIE'S MEAT SHACK...
DAY 1.... I PUT DOWN THAT "PLASTIC WOOD" DECKING ON THE CONCRETE FIRST- WITH A BOLT OR TWO INTO THE CONCRETE.. THEN YOU TAKE 2 20 FOOT 2X4 'S LIEING ON THEIR SIDES AND STARTTING IN ONE EXACT CORNER ( THINK PLYWOOD WILL START THERE..) MEASURE OUT 48" WHICH WILL BE ETH CENTER OF THER UP AND DOWN PIECE -- STUDS... NOW MEASURE 16 INCHES BOTH WAYS FROM THAT ONE STUD AND THAT WILLLBE THE CENTER OF THE 2 X4 STUDS-- NOW HERE IS THE TRICKY PART-- SEPARATE THE 2 20 FOOT ONES 8 FEET APART AND STICK IN AN 8 FOOT LONG 2 X 4 CENTERED ON THE MARKS-- TWO NAILS DRIVEN STRAIGHT THRU THE 20 FOOT ONES INTO THE 8 FOOT ONES -- NAIL ON TEH PLYWOOD ( EITHER TEXTURE 111 OR ¼ INCH IS CHEAPER IF YOU AARE ONLY TRYING TO HOLD UP THE PAINT....
DO THAT 4 TIMES AND STAND THEM UP AND YOU HAVE THE 4 WALLS UP BY LUNCHTIME.. OR MAYBE SUPPERTIME...MAYBE CAREFULLY CUT OUT A 30" X 84" OPENING ...TO BE A DOOR ON DAY 5
SWEEP OUT TEH CENTER OF YOU R BUILDING SO IT IS ALL SET TO DRAW ON TO DO THE ROOF. YOU NEED TO PREMAKE THE "A" SHAPE THINGS- ONE FOR EVERY 16 " TO LAND ON THOSE STUDS..
DAY 2 PUT A PIECE OF PLYWOOD DOWN ON THE SWEPT CONCRETE AND MAGIC MARKER THE RIGHT ANGLE AND EXTEND THOSE LINES TIL THEY ARE 12 FEET APART. ( I JUST USE IT TO USE THE RIGHT ANGLE FOR A PATTERN....) CUT ONE END OF SOME 2 X 6'S AT A 45 DEGREE ANGLE-- PUT THEM ON THE CONCRETE IN THE "A" PATTERN-- NAIL A SMALL TRIANGLE OF EXTRA PLYWOOD AT TEH TOP AND A 2 X 4 ABOUT 6' LONG ACROSS TEH "A" PART - CUTTING A NOTCH FOR WHERE IT WOULD HIT THE WALL-- TRACE ALL THAT OUT ON THE CONCRETE MAKE ONE FOR EVERY 16" ----THE ONLY THING THAT IS CRITICAL IS THAT THEY ALL MATCH---AND THEY SHOULD BECAUSE OF THE MAGIC MARKER ON THE FLOOR.
DAY 3 ARRAINGE SOME SORT OF SCAFFOLDING -- TRACTOR BUCKET OR LADDER --- GET A FRIEND AND SLIDE THEM INTO PLACE AND ADD SOME THIN ⅜ PLYWOOD WHICH ONCE SHINGLED, DOES WORK
DAY 4 WALK AROUND AND ADD NAILS/SCREWS TO PLACES YOU FORGOT AND ARRAINGE FOR A DOOR BY USING SOME 2 X 6 PIECES WITH ½ " PLYWOOD SUPPORTED BETWEEN WITH LOTSA NAILS.... TO MAKE A BEAM LIKE THING AS HOLDER UPPER FOR THE DOORS OR WINDOWS,,,
DAY 5 BY CUTTING THE HOLES FOR THE DOORS CAREFULLY.. ADD A BIT OF 2 X 4'S AND YOU HAVE A READY MADE DOOR.... ADD SOME "TRIM' AND HINGES
AND CALL SOMEONE ELSE TO PUT ON THE SHINGLES. THEY ARE HEAVY , HOT, AND NO FUN. AND THOSE DARN SHINGLE NAILS, IF DROPPED WILL LAND POINT UP AND GO RIGHT THRU SNEAKER BOTTOMS INTO FEET...( OR DOG PAWS..)
Hi Carlene! Time for the Wrinkle update. What a wonderful gift you've given me. Our little girl has settled in to her new home wonderfully. Axel and Otto (dachshunds) sleep right next to her and all three are getting along great! We go out for walks, go to the grocery store, Walmart, the bank, and everywhere we go she gets compliments. Compliments not only on how beautiful she is, but more importantly on how well trained she is. Steve, Megan and EVERYONE at SDP have done a great job on her training and temperament. Every time time we go outside we practice, practice, practice! She's so sharp on all her commands and does so well at recall, she constantly amazes me. We're becoming this great team and because of your generosity I'm able to get back parts of my life I'd thought I had to give up on. Her empathy is boundless and her sweet personality melts everyone who meets her! I'm working hard to be worthy of your gift, please share this with everyone at SDP so they can know that your tireless efforts are all paying off. I told you before, but it bears repeating, "thank you" doesn't come close to how much you've all changed my life! I'll keep you posted on her adventures, if anyone is interested they can follow her on Facebook @ Wrinkle & Me, our story. I usually post stuff every day so you can all see her whenever you want. =0) Thanks to ALL at SDP, you're LIFE CHANGERS! All my best, -Steve & Wrinkle
