short doggie... quickly
re donkeys... janine could not load them last night by herself-- and she had to work today-- is already on her way (6am) that leaves me...with mayge tanner and anyone else to go get 3 donkeys... she wants me to take th e second prego because she knows i will be asking brian to come vet them...and "she wasn't looking great last night..." so i will be doing that as soon as i get myself together...
plan now is as soon as tanner gets here to go get the trailer at janine's and hopefully meet brian.. the vet.. who's office is right near groton house where the donkeys are....and #1 get him to look them over... and then #2 pick them up and put them on the trailer... brian is as strong as a bull...
and be at the dr apt by 11:00 with the pregos in the barn here in front of the camera.
that is wht is supposed to happen--
i ordered a work horse harness for mo....
one CP person was concerned that i was going to work mo in harness...maybe make her pull the amish buggy that we have in the arena... we might ask her to pull it-- either around here or 2 miles in a parade ( if she behaves) just for fun... and i think she would enjoy i.. she seems intelligent and enjoys investigating all over here.. i can pull. that amish buggy ,.. it is not anywheres near what she has pulled in her life... like plows... and being an intelligent animal i can clearly see she likes being around people - here at any rate.. and does poke around...slightly bored..
i really don't think she wouol dmind... and i think she would enjoy the activity...
mary used to love this stuff
i gave some poo pickers to judy who enjoyed reading the commentw on them and sent me these
I have a list of people you missed
I don’t mean to brag, but I finished my 14 day diet in 3 hours and 20 minutes
My goal was to lose just 10 pounds, only 15 to go.

How to prepare tofu
1. Throw it in the trash
2. Grill some meat!
Kids don’t know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpeting to change the TV channel.
and then the "me and steve"
boy did i get emails on that one... here's only a few....
Sheep 1 has left a new comment on your post
I think "with Steve and me" is the correct form. Usually one mentions the other person before oneself in a situation like that.
You need to use "me" because it is the object form of "I", and in this situation it is the object of the preposition "with".
Grammatical convention is that all other objects are listed before the one representing yourself, namely "me".
Therefore the form should be "with Steve and me".
hope this helps! :)
IN THE STATEMENT THE DOGS ARE FINE WITH ME AND STEVE, THE PRONOUN "ME" IS AN OBJECT OF THE PREPOSITION "WITH" AND IS CORRECTLY IN THE OBJECTIVE CASE.
THE TEST YOU MENTIONED -- TO READ THE SENTENCE WITH THE PRONOUN ALONE -- IS INDEED VALID. YOU WOULD SAY THE DOGS ARE FINE WITH ME, NOT THE DOGS ARE FINE WITH I.
WHAT LIKELY CONFUSED YOU IS THAT THE PRONOUN “ME” WAS MENTIONED BEFORE THE NOUN “STEVE”. ALTHOUGH THAT'S NOT THE TYPICAL ORDER, IT DOESN’T CHANGE THE SITUATION. IN THE MORE TYPICAL ORDER, THE CORRECT STATEMENT WOULD BE THE DOGS ARE FINE WITH STEVE AND ME.
WHEN A PRONOUN IS A SUBJECT OF A STATEMENT, THEN THE SUBJECTIVE CASE IS APPROPRIATE. FOR EXAMPLE, STEVE AND I TRAIN DOGS IS CORRECT. HERE, THE PRONOUN “I” IS THE SUBJECT OF THE SENTENCE AND IS CORRECTLY IN THE SUBJECTIVE CASE. AGAIN, THE “PRONOUN ALONE” TEST VERIFIES IT; YOU WOULD SAY I TRAIN DOGS, NOT ME TRAIN DOGS.

i bit the bullet....i have ordered a harness for mo---slightly foolishly-- i am remindid of dave lettermans "before you retire to spend time with your fqmily, you better ask you r family how they feel about it." well i ordered the harness without consulting mo.... this could be a problem ... as we try and figure out why she was "discarded" -- she is sound-- no problems wit her feet or legs-- she has been worked- she has the scars of a harness ( and scars from a bit in the corner of her mouth) could be she just started to say " to heck with you i am just gong to misbehave so badly tht i don't have to work anymore" if that is so,, buying a harness could be a large mistake... about 125 pounds of mistake- however... it is on it's way ... from mossouri.. one mule harness. if all goes well , she should be able to easily pull the amish buggy.. it may take a lot of carrots to make her think kindly about a harness in general.. i hope there are no flashbacks.... she is large.... einstein said something about force , mass, and energy..... or something.. she sure has the mass part....
from mail call with megan....i am still confused about "the pups are ok with me and steve" i thought it would be "steve and i" because "me and steve" just does not sound right...
then several cp's chimed in with words no self respecting street person would know.. like subjunctive because of the "with" -- i hope one of you verbiage types can clear it up.... with steve and me sounds better to me than me and steve... and i instinctly would have said--- steve and i
leaving out the steve ---i can see where the "I" might be wrong... but..........
next problem--- the eclipse...
creating a problem because janine is going to gwen's to watch it -- gwen in north carloina is in the direct path-- doesn't sound like an issue... except janine had a couple donkeys arrive that are not ready to be placed in a generic home-- or with the group she has at anne's groton house... she swears they do not have a running nose.. but are in need of some intensive care..... i wish tanner's "closet" was fininshed, but we could squeeze them in here somehow. i said i would go look at them today... we could manage as long as we don't inherit her horse.. lincoln.. to boot.
we could swing that gate across the stall and give them mo's outdoor area because mo is so often loose in the yard anyway-- we should split them up.... because we can not provide intesnsive care type food to the rest of the bunch or they would get too fat too quickly--
janine has had several people come here to "practice" with our donks for the "donkey race" day at myopia..
pups are on their way... gruel feeding.. and starting with the baby food jars ( of wiich we have plenty at the moment...) now that they have "lap gruel" down pat, the concept of biting down on a spoonfull is a whole new thing..
mom is getting tired of motherhood... i think she will have another week or so and she will want out.... she wanders the house now-- and gets up on the sofa's to get away from the pups...
carpenter type - howard- is coming bck friday and saturday to work on the "closet" and tanner said he coudl stay to help... that is a great working pair... plus he is doing such a good job , i am ashamed to try and put up any rafters myself.... they would not look as good...also "tree guy" of unknown name will spend 1/2 day climbing trees in the parking pit to get rid of the dead branches... so no parking there on friday...
klingers kloset is a good name for that "wood structure" behind the arena... johnny carson had a wondrful thing with klangers bein g kept in klingers kloset where .. the kleaning lady klara kept them...before they were stolen by the kleptomaniac claude from cleveland.
the EXPLORE.ORG web site is all new... but all there somehow...
somehow i have heard there are facebook picture posintgs that are pretty funny by our cp's and i don't know how to find them
i will now go try and figure out how to navigate it...

let me be perfectly clear.... our concern is to place our dogs in a loving and working home - and they love the work...i have seen an article lately about how dangerous it is for dogs to be mobility dogs that have to carrry a person's weight... wow... carry??? you are talking some animal the size of MO to carry a person's weight....but a 100 pound dog can easily be a counterweight to help someone balance...
.i had a problem with a great deal of the article... it went on to say the dog should weigh at least 60 pounds and be 23 inches tall...
that is talking goldns and labs. at least for size.... for devoted attention , i don't know a better dog than a dane.....
they might have worked for bella at 48 pounds... but our dogs weigh 110 to 150 pounds at age18 months--and we have the rule on our web...
the dog must be at least 45% of height AND 65% of person's weight---- the article went on to say,....no dog should be
"forced" to work before the age of 2 years due to the "growth plate in thier legs... could be the growth plate idea is true in dogs... i don't know...
i do know the terminology is directly out of the horse racing manual..... if it is true, i have never worried about it in dogs because i see how
our dogs race and play around here so that any walking around the mall is far easier on their joints than what they do to themselves...
in the meantime......the youngest dog we ever allowed to go with a partner , is, i think george... who was allowed to go for overnights at age 9 months...
at which time he was pretty well trained and definitely bonded to bella ... as life went on... and we were learning.... the only problem she had with
george was when the school tried to separate george from vbella in eh cafeteria by making him lie down away from the table wher bella ate.
once we realized he needed to be right next to her, he was perfect. we were learning too.
the article went on to call these service dogs mobility assist dogs... i like that - the abrieviation would then be MAD
then someone ?ADI? got it into their heads we should do a cory check on every potential recipient.... i had never heard of a cori check...
( criminal background check)--we have had 2 "cases" relatted to that...--th e first--- that woman
who falsely convinced teh boston marathon that she was injured in th bombing-- got a dog from us...
before a month, we realized somethig was fishy about her.... she was agreeable that we took the dog back- as she had much more to worry about.
secondly........some woman called me to tell us we must not give a dog to a certain vet because he had a criminal
record was there was a warrent for his arrest... that sounded bad,,, so i spent teh $99 on a cori of him only to find it was an
old girlfriend who took out the warrant- and he had ignored it... he kept the dog solved his legal problems and is doing wondeffully
ignoring warrants is not a good thing to do... most of you may know my arrest history...it is a good one...
i had a leash law violation and should appear in court - i never got the notice... didn't go --so i was in contempt of court.. that is a very bad thing to be..
as i got home from work one day and mixed a southern comofrt manhattan- the phone rang-- the police re this warrant-
wanted me to come down to the police station- i was tired and didn;t want to go.... i simply said i could not drive, i had been drinking- the police guy said
they would have to send a car for me.... so i mixed another drink- and by the time the policeman got here , i was "feeling no pain"
and he let me finish my drink on the way into town!! ... as they did my fingerprints and mug shots they had to get a female in to babysit me in my cell...
i found she was not making the minimum wage for this and started in that lecture...-- southern comfort manhattan is a strong long lasting drink... they really wanted me out of
there and said i coudl go for $20 bail... i had only $14- and they did not take master card.... BUT THEY WOULD ALLOW ME ONE PHONE CALL.
. by now it was 11pm- so i called the closest friend i hd to the police dept-- ann getchell- it went like this....
"why the heii are you calling me at 11pm"
i need 6 bucks
"why do you need 6 bucks at this hour?
they want $20 and i only have $14---- for bail....
they drove me to her house and then home---
so much for records...
ADI suggests investigating the background of applicants--- and that sounds good, however, other than meeting
them and talking withtheir associates, i made the decision it was mentally and financially healthier to trust everyone than to spend $99
on a minimum cori report on everyone...we are concerned for the dog ..
our dogs are chipped, and if need be we could pull out the agreement about we get the dog back if the dog
is getting anything less than perfect care regardless of about anything else....
After two days of car travel Ned arrived in the beautiful mountains of East Tennessee. I was amazed at how well he traveled. He was perfect! We arrived home and had a night to ourselves before we picked up his little sister Annie. To my surprise and relief (as she is very spoiled) they have done well together. I've no doubt they will get better with each other every day.
In the three days we've been home I've been out more places that I typically go in two weeks. He's been incredible every where we've been I was a bit concerned about the grocery but we went yesterday and that nose kept straight ahead the whole time. You are so right when you say they are perfectly trained and all we need to do is train ourselves to not mess them up!
The biggest things we're practicing right now are stairs (I'm very slow) and down stay. He's great at the down but gets antsy and would prefer not to stay too long!
He is truly a game changer for me. I was very self conscious when in public and avoided it any way I could. I always felt like I was perceived as drunk with my staggered walking and frequent falls. My friend Mary was amazed when she saw me and declared it was the first time she'd seen me walking fully upright in years! He is so steady and attentive. I can't begin to adequately thank you for the incredible gift of Ned. He's got the sweetest soul and has the most loving spirit.
Mary is coming today to help me set up his Facebook page. I have difficulty with light sensitivity so computer screens are a bit of a problem so it takes me quite a long time to compose anything on a computer screen. I'll get the Facebook page to you as soon as we finish it.
WE ARE ON STAYCATION FOR THE NEXT 2 WEEKS! SATURDAY WE SOLD BAGS, THE REST OF THE WEEKEND WAS SPENT WITH FAMILY AND I DID LOTS OF SWIMMING AND WENT OUT IN THE CANOE. TODAY WE HIKED AT VAUGHAN WOODS STATE PARK. WE DID OVER 3.5 MILES, EVEN ON MY FLOPPY LEGS. NOW THAT I'M FLOPPY I NEED TO WORK ON MUSCLES, LIKE QUADS THAT NEED TO GET STRONGER. WENDY DID WELL TODAY AND WE WERE BOTH TIRED, BUT DID IT!
we have the tote bags he is talking about...$20 here +$5 postage

HOWARD( WITH TANNER) IS DOING SUCH A GOOD JOB WITH THE ROOF ON THE SHED, I DON'T THINK I CAN GO NEAR IT !! HE/THEY HAVE ALMOST 1/3 RAFTERS UP-- AND THEY ALL MATCH !!! HE CHEATS, HE MEASURES...
I AM VERY HAPPY TO REPORT TO THE TIMBERLAND CREW---THAT THE STRING THEY PUT UP WAS LEVEL AND DARN NEAR CENTERED BETWEEN THE 2 WALLS WHICH WERE ALMOST STRAIGHT.....
IT IS A SHED FOR DONKEYS-- AND IF THeY HAVE TO AVOID A DRIP OR TWO... SO BE IT. ONE END OF THE SHED IS STILL THE OLD ARENA WHICH WE ARE "REPLACING", THE OTHER END HAS NOT BEEN DESIGNED YET... IT IS VERY CLOSE TO THE WHITE ARENA.
I WONDER........ GIVEN A SHARP KNIFE AND A FEW PIECES OF STRAPPING, AND THEY WOULD BE CONNECTED... THAT DID NOT OCCUR TO ME TIL JUST NOW.... BUT IT IS A GOOD THOUGHT????
WITH SPINNING HEAD.......THERE IS A LOT ON MY WISH LIST THIS WEEK...FENCING BEING ONE ITEM.. ALONG WITH DEAD LIMBS IN TREES, NOT TO MENTION THE REST OF THE DRIVEWAY-- IT WILL EITHER GET DONE OR IT WON'T BEFORE DOG FEST.. THE CONCEPTUAL IDEA SPINNING IS.... WE DO SUCH A GREAT JOB TRAINING OUR DOGS TO BE SERVICE DOGS, I WONDER HOW SUCCESSFUL WE SOUL D BE AT TRYING OUR WAY ON OUR DANES FOR SEEING EYE... I HAVE ONLY TO WATCH GEORGE BRING BELLA DOWN THE FLIGHT OF STAIRS TO WONDER IF WE COULD DO IT... BELLA IS TALKING TO HER SISTER AND NOT PAYING ANY ATTENTION TO GEORGE OR HER OWN FEET....-- GEORGE IS WATCHING THE SPLIT SECOND MOVEMENT OF HER FEET -- SHE HESITATES, HE HESITATES--- SHE STEPS , HE STEPS.--- YOU DON'T TRAIN THAT...GEORGE FIGURED IT OUT...
SEVERAL ADI TRAINERS HAVE MADE A COMMENT OR TWO THAT MAKE ME WONDER...
HOW DO THEY GeT THEM TO PAY SUCH ATTENTION AS SOON AS THE VEST IS ON?
HOW DO THEY MANAGE TO GET A FULLY TRAINED DOG AT A YEAR OLD.? ( GEORGE STARTED WITH BELLA AT 9 MONTHS..)
THEN THE BIG ONE... HOW DO THEY MANAGE TO DONATE THE DOGS FREE OF CHARGE?
THE ANSWER TO THAT LAST ONE IS THE EXPLORE.ORG's CAMERA COMMUNITY AND THE SHATUPON SOCIETY's $10 NUMBERS OFF OUR WEB...THE ANSWER TO HOW TO USE OUR "SYSTEM" TO PRODUCE A SEEING EYE DOG IS FAR MORE COMPLICATED... BUT MIGHT BE WORTH A TRY...IF WE COUDL SPARE A THOUGHT OR TWO...
THE PARTH THAT ALERTS ME FOR THIS.. IS THE COMMENT THAT A SEEING EYE DOG IS NOW COSTING $50,000 TO RAISE..
THEY USE A SYSTEM OF TRAINING PUPPY RAISERS TO GET THE PUPS USED TO SOCIETY IN GENERAL-- I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY FAITH IN TRAINING A BIG BUNCH OF PUPPY RAISERS-- THERE ARE TOO MANY PITFALLS. PLUS I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THE DOG FEELS ABOUT LEAVING THEIR PUPPY RAISER- TO GO THRU TRAINING ONLY TO GET TO WORK WITH A NOTHER PERSON AS A PARTNER... TOO MUCH BONDING BEFORE IT REALLY COUNTS.. IS MY PERSON AL OPINION...
WE HAVE A SYSTEM OF LEARNING TO PAY ATTENTION... THEN . "ACHIEVING BOREDOM" - THEN BEING USEFUL... AND FINALLY BONDING... I DUNNO... THE "SEEING EYE" HAS BEEN HUGELY SUCCESSFUL FOR MANY YEARS.... WHO AM I TO QUESTION WEIGHS HEAVILY ---- BUT... THAT DOES NOT MEAN WE SHOULD NOT THINK ABOUT IT.
GONNA TALK WITH MEGAN AND STEVE....
MEANWHILE ... I HAVE ORDERED A HARNESS FOR MO.... I DON'T KNOW HOW SHE WILL FEEL ABOUT THIS... I AM ASSUMING SHE HAS SPEND HOURS PULLING A PLOW AND HOPEFULLY STEARS-- SHE HAS SCARS TO SHOW HARD WORK...PLUS AT THE SIDE OF HER MOUTH WHERE SOMEONE PULLED HER HEAD AROUND VERY HARD... ALL THIS IS WELL AND GOOD AND THERE IS A HIGH PERCENT POSSIBILITY SHE WILL "DRIVE" VERY WELL... HOWEVER ... IF THE LAST TIME SHE WAS "HOOKED" SHE PANIC'D ANDD RAN AWAY IT WOULD NOT BE AN EASY SWITCH TO DRIVING... I AM ASSUMING SHE WAS IN THE KILLER PEN PURRELY BECAUSE O F HER AGE...
BUT THERE IS ONE LITTLE THOUGHT... SHE IS VERY SOUND AND I WOULD THINK STILL CAPABLE OF PLOW PULLING... SO THERE MIGHT BE SOMETHING ELSE..
WE WILL FIND OUT IF EVER THE HARNESS GETS HERE ( I ORDERED IT A 8/6)
KRINGLE AND MY FAMILY STARTED THE DAY IN OLD TOWN ALBUQUERQUE AT SAN FELIPE DE NERI PARISH. MY SON WANTED TO ATTEND THE SPANISH MASS AND ALTHOUGH I DONT SPEAK THE LANGUAGE. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL WITH THE MUSIC AND LOVELY CHURCH. WE THEN WENT TO SANDIA PEAK WHERE KRINGLE RODE A TRAM FOR THE FIRST TIME! SHE ALSO HELPED ME COMPLETE A HIKE TO KIWANIS CABIN WHERE THE VIEWS WERE SPECTACULAR. THIS HIKE WAS A CHALLENGE BUT KRINGLE HELPED ME WHEN I STUMBLED AND BELIEVED IN ME THAT I COULD FINISH.

apparently we have someone coming today who's husband is a contractor--..linda is hoping he can help with the roof...which is more under control than last week... tom put up the scaffolding-- and we were waiting for tall tanner to come deal with it.-- the word contractor does not necessarily mean they can build things...many contractors i know are people who can dig big holes and then make phone calls to the rest of the "trades"--
like... the icu building-- one of my texas relatives could not address the way i found the man who put all thise concrete blocks on top of each other.... i saw a building being built-- and it looked like a nice building... so i talked to the men with the concrete all over thair clothes-- the only word of english they knew was "Cash" but that worked out very nicely-- and they did ia good job here too. on sat and sundays. i wish more people would realize that being covered in concrete dust might indicate some artificial social status but is absolutely no indication of intellectual capability... i enjoy watching people work at building stuff... and having watched those concrete block guys, i thought t would be fun to try and build somethign out of all teh concrete block left over--it would not make much more than a free standing concrete block wall -- which at some point i just might do...
FYI----to improve your general knowledge.... there exists a wire ladder sort of thing which lays flat between the layers of concrete blocks-- about 6" wide 8 feet long... probably available from anyone selling concrete blocks--- they make perfect plant "holder- uppers" in the garden when bent into an artistic arch... thanks to grace... my guess is they are cheaper than some official trellis...
my mother used to say something abotu "if you can't be a xxxxx then be a yyyy" but i have forgotten which professions she used.... i think it had something to do with being a door stop...
the point is ... i am in total sympathy with someone who needs financial assistance for whatever reason... however i keep thinking... if i could have posed for a brain surgeon for at least one day, then stopped being a brain surgeon, i might be eligible for financial support for the rest of my life, because no one would come along and say "why don't you set broken ankles instead?" problem is the huge discrepancy between brain and ankle surgeon.. -- . the arguement that "you could always flip hambergers" does not hold because i don't know where anyone could survive on flipping wages. --
in this area ---ipswich/boxford--- the houses are huge- to put it mildly.. built that way so they have "resale value"-- people raise their 2.5 children and think they will sell the house when the kids are out of college... but when the kids get out of college and try and live off flipping wages because they don't have any marketable skills, they move back in to the huge house's attic, cellar or garage... where they only need to put in their own bathroom to make it liveable, but they can not locate a plumber.
i could say "back to the mike rowe mindset...." except i don't think i ever left that mindset.-- polititians can come and go, but if the guy who picks up our trash were to take a 17 day vacation, in the august heat..., the problems would be very obvious by day 8...
you think i am wrong???
1. so the donkey fence-- once a perfectly straight lovely 3 split rail fence is now .. just split - and needs massive attention...the "guy" around here who does such a good job with split rail fences is way overbooked til next fall. it is worse than getting a doctor's appointment...
2. my bosche washing machine that was deemed to be trash-- "cheaper to get a new one" ----was fixed by bud for $13.48
3. the "old" oven-- replaced by a "new" $800 oven- because the appliance repair place would not even attempt repair... was fixed for a whopping $48.72- ( bud again-- in his spare time...)
4. a neighbor gave us a nearly new wall oven... had to get rid of it.. the door hinge was warped... i took it and it awaits megan's need in our garage...
5. shelters are full of dogs who were once cute puppies- and now have no social skills and are thrown away..
6. just as mo was a throw away for lack of a chance to be an entertaining lawn ornament.... now that is stretching it......
too much-- too soon--- lack of maintenance people to repair things?? logical curiosity / investigation is non existent in anyone under 40......
bud's tool belt is very battered--
tanner has a new one--( we are working on that..).
there is a fortune to be made in home maintanence.. if you can just find the maintainers...

harnessi ( that is the plural of harness)---since no one has asked for my opinion lately on harness, i feel the need to spout on a couple topics..
i just got a lovely ad from some outfit selling some straps of leather as the ultimate training device... bullroar...the ultimate training device is the handler and no amount of expensive hardware is going to give you that perfect mutt. plus i don't have any kind words for the process of sending your dog "to a trainer"-- to have some problem corrected-- the dog will come back and maybe hesitate for 3 seconds and return to previous behavior unless you... the handler... learn to adjust your handling of the dog.. while the trainer "goes to the bank"
A well trained dog will behave perfectly with a piece of dental floss for a collar/leash... so spending $100 on something that winds around various parts of your dog is money wasted..( or better yet --- you should donate to service dogs project instead)..
only once--- that i can remember ( now there is a loophole) -- did i ever recommend anything exceptt the normal training collar-- a "slipchain" previously known unfortunately as a choke chain.. it certainly is not used to choke the dog !! ---- our dogs and handlers are not even allowed to tighten the thing in my field of vision without being repromanded "don't tighten that leash" -- properly used, eventually t ht jiggling noise of the chain is part of the conversation between handler and dog... granted the leash might be a necessary emergency brake with a young dog, but you would never drive your car with that brake stuck on - the only time i can remember suggesting anything else was to a kid who just went to college with her dog she was newly in a wheelchair, on campus, where there were squirrels darting all over the place.. it was more than her dog was prepared to deal with... so i did suggest that strap around the nose for a week or two til the dog got over the thrill of squirrels. dog hate that thing- so it is not in the interest of the partnership if the first thing you do is put that thing on the dogs nose which he hates.... it is a shortcut to training in some cases... and it pains me to see some seeing eye dogs with it on...
speaking of the seeing eye dogs... which do a fantastic job- and cost o$50,000 to produce--- they have set the stage for all service dogs that follow.... they wear a harness with a handle.. that handle has a purpose in communicating the dog's position to the person.. it works perfectly and is hinged differently than the ones for balance work......THis KIND OF HARNESS DOES NOT BELONG ON A DOG USED FOR BALANCE WORK.-- THAT METAL HANDLE CAN HURT THE DOG IN A FALL.. or yanking on it in the process of getting up out of a chair... there are places that sell them- at great expense -- like $600 -- and they look wonderful... but i will not certify any team using that kind of harness.... because all the cloth/web harnesses that are available on the internet will work as well for the person... and be so much more comfortable for the dog.. i have heard that one of the harness makers told a recipient of ours that she needed to have the handle for a complicateed reason... the basic reason was to get her to pay $600 for the harness... my point is the benefit to the dog far outweighs any percieved benefit to the person.-- if you are interested in how it looks..... you shoujld not have one of our dogs period .
we have t least 3 of those metal harnessi around here somewhere... they were given to us... and when i started sdp years ago , i used one to go thru security at the airport so that i would look like a seeing eye dog team. i was using their reputation , before i had any of my own... the harness was good for that.. it is impressive. at one point i wanted to try and train a seeing eye dog... but that idea got away from me.
training a seing eye dog still fascinates me.... i wonder...........hmmmmmmmmm.
from EVE and FINN
Yesterday and last week I had a lemonade and cookies stand to raise money for SDP i raised $40 dollars !!
finn has done so much for me in my life I couldn't imagine life without him literally'
I really hope this money makes the same kind of impact in someone else's life
wow ... am i impressed !!!!...

lotsa cut and paste... to remind us why we go thru all this.... after all... alot of the volungteers here are people who are retired and could easily be basking in the sun of some nursing home eating gruel.
the interdependency of people and objects is once again demonstrated by the roof on the donkey shed we are working on.. i had hoped to hold up the roof with a bunch of "A" shaped wood, but that just is not happening... the reason we are in pause mode... is that i can not carry 20 foot lumber on the roof of my car... the horse trailer is among the missing (?janine?) and the dump trailer is full.
took me the week to figure out the roof on the shed was not happening because i was hesitant to go to the dump without help in case the trailer didn't dump-- it has an electric lift which usually works... but if it does not i would have to unload the thing by hand... something i really no longer want to do... plus my friend at the dump would not like me to hold up his routien of getting cars and trucks in and out as fast as possible..-- ( the guy who told me he wanted me to stick around and show people how to back up a trailer)
I.E. TO BACK A TRAILER......
PUT YOUR HAND AT THE BOTTOM OF THE STEERING WHEEL-- THAT IS THE DIRECTION THE TRAILER WILL GO... SO YOU START IT TURNING.... THEN YOU REVERSE AND CHASE IT.--- TRY IT... YOU WILL LIKE IT... IT IS EASY THAT WAY.
I HAVE ALOT OF TRAILER STORIES FOR ANOTHER DAY. LIKE HOW DO YOU DENT 2 TRAILERS AT ONCE? YOU RUN INTO ONE WITH THE OTHER. ( IN THE DRIVEWAY)...
KRINGLE HAS MADE IT SAFELY TO NEWMEXICO. THIS HOW A SERVICE DOG TRAVELS. THANK YOU SOUTHWEST AIRLINES. KRINGLE WAS AN ANGEL. KRINGLE AND MY FAMILY HIKED AT BANDELIER NATIONAL MONUMENT. I CAN'T EXPRESS MY GRATITUDE TOWARD KRINGLE. FOUR MONTHS AGO MY WALKER WOULD HAVE NEVER ALLOWED ME TO SEE THIS BEAUTY OF THE PUEBLO SITES, CANYONS, AND DWELLINGS. I EVEN CLIMBED 95 STEPS, BUT NO LADDERS! YES I WAS A SLOW HIKER BUT I DID IT! I LOVE THE NATIONAL PARKS SERVICE AND KRINGLE HELPED ME ENJOY NEW MEXICO WITH MY FAMILY!
update on Dash and scott's adventures . Our speaches will be kicking off next month as we will be traveling all over New York State telling our story as well as bringing awareness to PTSD and suicide prevention for Law Enforcement, corrections , first responders and Veterans alike. All this wouldn't be possible without Dash at my side at all times . We have become quite the team and Dash has become very popular all around New York State. In every speech I give I talk about how Dash chose me and what a great organization the Service Dog Project is . I know of a few people who have visited the farm after meeting Dash and I .
Lastly but very importantly I'd like to share something with you that has made me very proud of the work Dash and I have done as a team. US Congressman Brian Higgins of New York State recently flew a flag over the Nations Capital Building in Honor of what Dash and I do. This has made me speechless and again this wouldnt have been possible without Dash being at my side.
Thank you for all that you do and keep up the great work. We will be seeing you very soon. Take care and Dog bless .
Scott and Dash.
P.S. I am enclosing a picture of the certificate that was presented to me along with the flag that was flown. Feel free to share this email to all.
interesting prep for law school....
DAYS ONE AND TWO OF ROGER WILLIAMS UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF LAW ORIENTATION ARE BEHIND US AND ASHER WANTS TO KNOW, "ARE WE LAW STUDENTS YET?!"
WE'VE MET OUR CLASS OF 2020, WE'VE BEEN INTRODUCED TO THE DIFFERENT ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES, WE'VE MET OUR PROFESSORS (THE TWO I MET TODAY SHOOK MY HAND AND SAID, "SO I KNOW THIS IS ASHER, BUT WHAT'S YOUR NAME?"), WE'VE RESERVED OUR SEATING IN CLASS, SO WE'RE JUST SO READY TO BE DONE WITH THESE LONG DAYS AND START CLASS FOR REAL!
ASHER'S BEEN EXTREMELY PATIENT AS HE LAYS NEXT TO ME FOR HOURS WHILE I TRY AND ABSORB ALL THIS INFORMATION BEING THROWN AT US. WE DRESSED UP FOR THE OATH OF PROFESSIONALISM AND RECEPTION LAST NIGHT---
HE'S STARTED A ROUTINE OF RUNNING IN SMALL CIRCLES AROUND ME WHEN I TELL HIM TO GO PLAY. HIS FAVORITE THING THOUGH IS WRESTLING WITH ME IN THE GRASS - I'M SURE I GET A FEW FUNNY LOOKS FROM PEOPLE WALKING BY WHEN I'M ON ALL FOURS IN THE GRASS PLAYING WITH ASHER AFTER A LONG SESSION, BUT I PREFER TO THINK THESE PEOPLE ARE JUST JEALOUS THAT THEY DON'T HAVE THEIR OWN PUP TO PLAY WITH ON CAMPUS. :) AFTER FEELING SO MENTALLY DRAINED, A LITTLE PLAYING IS THE PERFECT WAY TO RE-ENERGIZE!
TOMORROW WE'LL HAVE TO SKIP THE PLAY TIME FOR OUR THIRD AND FINAL DAY OF ORIENTATION - WE'LL DON THE BUSINESS ATTIRE (INCLUDING THE TIE, OF COURSE) ONE MORE TIME AS WE SPEND THE MORNING BACK IN THE APPELLATE COURTROOM AND THE AFTERNOON IN PROVIDENCE BEING INTRODUCED TO THE PUBLIC INTEREST LEGAL COMMUNITY UP THERE. FOR NOW, ASHER GETS TO CHILL FOR THE REST OF THE DAY WHILE I WORK ON FIRST ASSIGNMENTS FOR NEXT WEEK'S CLASSES. COME MONDAY, WE'LL BE LAW STUDENTS!

i have to rush teh dd because i have to take fran to the airport at 7am...
i didn't mean to rush mail call yesterday--- well ... yes i did.... it was a very busy day.. i had no lunch and missed my usuall nap...so when the food arrived... i rushed-- and i had complaints-- thinking i was bored... no..... sometimes i am just tired... i like doing mail call... ti is usually a fun end to the day-- however once i get my nose on food cooking,, i am llike that dog..pavxxxx's dog who drools at the smell of food... well i get distracted by food .. especially whren hungry... so when i have an alarming mood swing maybe yo should ask "when did you eat last" and if it was more that24 minutes, it could be low blood sugar?????--- isn't that what people blame thing s on????
the family that has mindy were here at mail call also... it was fun to thear theire escapades with mindy... she very willingly followed the wom an out the door to their car... so she is happy.... she is also retreiving a freisbee... which i could never get across to her....
they also came across 100 pounds of carrots-- and delivered them-- so mo will have a big day..
i don't have a root cellar so we should go th4ru them very quickly... i will share with janine... who has a bunch of co=donkeys from the kill pens she is trying to tame...

i have to be one of the worlds greatest growers of hair-- well .maybe not the world's... but eastern mass... or maybe outer boxford road??? for a very long time i had a braid i could sit on when braided-- i had it for so long, that to this day when i put on a jacket, i reach back and try and flip the braid out of the collar.. we are a creature of habit... when i donated it to locks of love, we had to re-write the rules for crazy acres.
RULES WHILE AT THE SERVICE DOG PROJECT
- IF IT’S BROKEN, FIX IT
- IF IT’S DIRTY, CLEAN IT
- IF IT’S SMELLY, PICK IT UP
- IF IT’S EMPTY, FILL IT
- IF YOU TRIP OVER IT, MOVE IT
- IF IT’S GOT FOUR LEGS AND A TAIL, LOVE IT
- IF IT’S GOT TWO LEGS - IN A RED GOLF CART, LISTEN CLOSELY TO IT
A haircut necessitated a change to the last rule. The original rule was...
IF IT’S GOT TWO LEGS AND A LONG BRAID DOWN ITS BACK, LISTEN CLOSELY TO IT
wonderful rules written 100 years ago by a someone i called my verbiage friend -- it is amazing how so many people have slid into critical roles at SDP....there is a kuranda bed repair depaartment, head engineer of the door flap crew, owner of hundreds of happy hats.to mention o a few...
now there is another topic -- i may have this all wrong... but.. a bunch of sdp volunteers got invited to a wedding of one of the recipients...
(?) of argentiniean background? ---at the reception if drinks were served, it was incidental.. but at one point , they bought out cartons of hats, inviting everyont to put on one--- all different....-- and it transformed the crowd into what would otherwise be considered a well hydrated, relaxed bunch of uninhibited happy people. those cases of hats did for the crowd what cases of champaign would do in a different crowd.... with no hangover... it was interesting.. as it is when camera mark shows up wih his collection of hats... or when someone sends us some foolish headgear for mail call... it is the wd40 of the mind. .... it loosens us up.... i don't know why..
could be...... now here is a stretch.... when someone gets one of our dogs, one of the benefits is that the general public's attention is deflected from the recipients disability to the dog. the dog becomes a conversation piece which does wonders for ptsd victums.. i can not tell you how many --- because i am an extremely poor in the memory department... lets say it is not unusual for us to get thank you notes from recipinetn mentioning "now they don't look at me like i am some drunk, but the look at the dog and talk to me. somehow i don't think a funny hat would be suitable in htis situation... but a dog works to provide the subtle distraction ...
how does that "play" with a society's desire to wear... or dress in ..what someone tells us is in fashion..-- not just women........ take men's ties.. men's minds ( or their wive's) are constantly " adjusted" to buy narrow ties ... to big wide ties-- and the tie clips to tie tacks. to keep them from blowing or not blowing in the wind come and go as correct attire....
the training of the mind--- a madison ave speciality..... a teen ager has to dress in whatever teenagers dress in ... or they will be bullied.
that begins to sound like "if you put 3 teenage pups in a field, it will become 2 against 1 and the 1 can get badly hurt"
all this got started with a muslim woman in the news covering up all thier hair... boy does that save money and get rid of a lot of hair related problems. i bet they don't have to buy hair setting gel, spray, tint or dye.....-- i can not say i have spent much on that... but the concept is there
bella and geoge
YESTERDAY WAS ANOTHER PART BEACH DAY. WE SPENT A COUPLE HOURS ON THE BEACH AND THEN WE WENT AND WALKED DOWN BEARSKIN NECK IN ROCKPORT. BELLA AND GEORGE WALKED 1/2 WAY OUT ON THE ROCKS. THEY ARE NICE WIDE FLAT ROCKS SO THAT MADE IT PRETTY EASY. BUT I WAS STILL IMPRESSED WITH HOW WELL THEY DID. THEN WE SAT AND RELAXED FOR A BIT BEFORE WALKING BACK. TODAY BELLA AND GEORGE SPENT MOST OF THE DAY WITH NANA. BELLA WAS PRETTY TIRED. SHE CAME HOME AND TOOK A NAP AND STILL WENT TO BED EARLY. WHEN I GOT HOME SHE TOLD ME HER BODY WAS TIRED AND SORE. SOMETIMES I WONDER HOW SHE WOULD BE IF SHE NEVER RECEIVED VIMIZIM. SEEING HOW SHE IS WHEN SHE IS DUE FOR INFUSION MAKES ME REALLY SEE HOW MUCH THIS DRUG IS CHANGING HER LIFE! HOW AMAZING IT IS! SHE MAY HAVE 6 HOURS A WEEK WHEN SHE CAN'T RUN AND PLAY, RIDE HER BIKE, AND GOOD OFF WITH FRIENDS BUT KNOWING THE BENEFIT IT IS SO WORTH THE 6 HOURS. I AM SO THANKFUL THIS DRUG IS HERE TO STAY AND SEEING THE BENEFITS IS AMAZING! THANK YOU FOR CHECKING IN!
LOVE BELLA AND GEORGE
i had to include this david lettermn quote
"Here's what I have learned, if you retire to spend more time with your family, check with your family first."

AUG 8 2017
OF ALL THE COMPETENT PEOPLE WHO DONATE TIME AND ENERGY TO SDP....ONE OF THE MOST QUIET COMPETENT PEOPLE WHO GOES UNNOTICED BUT WITHOUT WHOM WE WOULD NOT HAVE THE BEAUTIFUL CALENDAR IS KITTY...THEY WILL BE SHOOTING SEVERAL SHOTS TODAY.. AND SHE HAS LINED UP WARDROBE, PROPS,PERSONELL , LOCATIONS PERMISSIONS,TRANSPORTATION AND OF COURSE...PHOTOGRAPHER.... WILLIAM ----BEFITTING OF ANY HOLLYWOOD MOVIE SHOT.. SHE CONCERNS HERSELF NOT ONLY WITH THE PICTURES ON THE WALL BEHIND THE DOG SHOTS, BUT THE SIZE OF THE STAPLES HOLDING THE CALENDAR TOGETHER.... ALL CHEERFULLY...
WE--- THANKFULLY--- HAVE A BUNCH OF "SPECIALISTS"
WHICH REMINDS ME..... OF A BOOK .. CALLED "THE SPECIALIST" BY CHIC SALES(?) QUITE A FUNNY HOUR LONG READ- ABOUT A GUY WHO SPECIALIZED IN BUILDING OUTHOUSES.. ONE WOULD NOT THINK SOMEONE........BUT HE GETS IN TO DETAILS LIKE CUTTING UNCOMFORTABLE SQUARE HOLES TO DISCOURAGE THE HELP FROM SPENDING TOO MUCH TIME IN THERE..
WHICH ALSO REMINDS ME,, I HAVE TO ORDER 2 PORTAPOTTIES FOR DOGFEST....JUST ANOTHER DETAIL--- AND "EARLY SANDY" IS NOT TOO BAD EITHER AT PULLING "STUFF" TOGETHER...
I HAVE HAD "FAMILY " AROUND FOR THE PAST FEW DAYS-- SISTER FRAN HER DAUGHTER DEB , HUSBANFD WARD, AND 2 BOYS ALMOST IDENTICAL AGE.... WARD AND WILL---- A HIGH ENERGY BUNCH- GENERATING CONCEPTIONAL CONVERSATIONS NOT ALWAYS EASY TO COME BY... THEY HAD WITH THEM A FRENCH EXCHANGE STUDENT-- 5TH BOY IN A FAMILY WHICH GOT US INTO THE EUROPEAN ROALITY OF FIRST BORN MALE CHILD- WHICH MORPHED TO AMERICA -- AN ABSURD CUSTOM -- SPOKEN AS THE 3RD DAUGHTER..... BUT THERE DOES EXIST.. STILL... IN THIS COUNTRY XXXXXXXX ORGANIZATONS WHICH ARE "EXCLUSIVE" AND RESTRICTED TO ONLY FIRST BORN MALES..--- WHICH... WITH "THE TWINS" ---WARD AND WILL-- ONE IS 40 MINUTES OLDER THAN THE OTHER-- A DISTINCTION HARD TO OVERCOME.
THEN THERE WAS DEBBIE'S COMPANY..WHICH RAN EVENTS... HUGE EVENTS IN THE WASHINGTON,DC AREA AND WE DISCUSSED THE PROBLEMS OF SIGNAGE TO ENABLE A CROWD TO MAKE ALL THE FACILITIES AVAILABLE .... SHE TOLD OF ONE EVENT WITH 50,000 PEOPLE ON WHICH HER COMPANY HAD SPENT $20,000 ON SIGNS PLACED HIGH ENOUGH FOR EVERYONE TO READ.... EXCEPT IT RAINED AND EVERYONE CARRIED UMBRELLAS SO NO ONE LOOKED UP, BUT STARED AND FOLLOWED THE FEET IN FRONT OF THEM LEAVING DEB AND HER STAFF TO RUN TO OUT FLANK THEM AND TRY AND TURN THIS HERD OF PEOPLE IN THE DIRECTION OF THE ACTIVITIES BEFORE THEY ALL TRUDGED OUT OF TOWN.
THE PARALLEL BETWEEN COWBOYS AND CATTLE WAS ALARMING...
CONCEPTIONAL CONVERSATIONS COMPLETELY REMOVED FROM REALITY ARE GOOD INTELLECTUAL EXERCISES.... ESPECIALLY IF YOU CAN HEAR THEM.. TO THAT END , I HAD TO LOAN FRAN MY LEFT HEARING AID WHILE I WORE THE RIGHT ONE... SO WE BOTH COULD PARTICIPATE..
ONE PIECE OF THE SHED ROOF( THAT YOU CAN NOT SEE FROM THE CAMERAS) GOT PUT UP YESTERDAY... HOPEFULLY TNNER AND I CAN DO THINGS TODAY ... YESTERDAY'S WAS REALLY A PRACTICE RUN... WE ARE MORE EXPERIENCED NOW..... THE SHED IS NOT WHAT YOU WOULD CALL A PERFECT RECTANGLE - AS TEH MANY PEOPLE WHO WORKED ON IT AND PUT IN THE POSTS HAD QUITE A FEW INDIVIDUAL IDEAS... IT REMINDS ME OF THE EXPRESSION " A CAMEL IS A HORSE DESIGNED BY A COMMITTEE" I HAD THOUGHT ALL THESE "A" TRUSSES WOULD BE EASIER--- BUT MAYBE THE T TENT'S RIDGEPOLE DESIGN WOULD BE ESAIER WITHOUT A BUNCH OF PEOPLE TO HELP LIFT THOSE "A's"
RE :USING NATURE TO YOUR ADVANTAGE.... WE HAD A LOVELY ( MESSY) LOBSTER DINNER LAST NIGHT IN THE T TENT... AND SIMPLU MOVED ALL THE TABLES AND CHAIRS OUR TO BE RAINED ON OVERNIGHT... I HOPE NATURE ACCOMODATED US.... LOBSTER IS LOVELY... BUT.......MESSY.
WE WEERE NEARLY JOINED BY MO-- ONLY TANNER AND LAURA'S QUICK ACTION SAVED US... MO HAS DECIDED SHE LIKES SPRITE OUT OF A BOWL IN THE T TENT
THIS COULD BECOME AN 1800 POUND PROBLEM-- AND WE THOUGHT 750 POUND MARY WAS BAD !!

AUG 7 2017
MONDAY= HANGING LOOSE DAY....WE MADE IT THRU THE WEEKEND..-- OVERHANGING DEAD TREES GOT LOWERED ( NOT REMOVED) BY AN EXPERT ROPE TYER/ FLIPPER---WHIFFLE BAR IS ON IT'S 5 WOBBLY FEET AGAIN.... CHICKENS PERFORMED PROMPTLY PICKING THE SHATUPON WINNERS ..DEBBIE ( AND OTHERS) DROVE TEH TRACTOR AND PLAYED WITH THE SAND PILE WITHOUT HITTING ANYTHING... A VERY NICE FAMILY FROM ANDOVER SHOWED UP,NEEDING A DANE FIX HAVING LOST THEIR DANE 2 WEEKS AGO... AND MINDY LOVED THE MOTHER- SO SHE HAS GONE FOR AN OVERNIGHT TO SEE IF SHE COULD BE ANOTHER STASHED FEMALE WITHIN THE 10 MILE RADIUS...
TAKING THOSE ACCOMPLISHMENTS ONE AT A TIME...
I WAS FASCINATED WITH THE TREE GUY'S ROPE HANDLING-- ALONG WITH GETTING ROPES HIGH INTREES TO BEGIN WITH... AND CUTTING OFF A BIG LIMB WHICH WAS TIED TO A ROPE UPA DN OVER A GISMO... SO THE 500 POUND LIMB DID NOT MAKE THE 200 POUND GUY AT THE OTHER END OF THE ROPE GO UP AS IT CAME DOWN--- WAS INTERESTING... AS WAS TEH AMAZING COLLECTION OF THINGS ATTACHED TO HIS BELT AS HE CLIMBED-- BUT MOST OF ALL..... WITH ONE HAND OCCUPIED WITH HEEPING HIM IN THE TREE, HE COULD FLIP A ROPE AROUND A TREE LIMB AND HAV E IT COME AROUND AND UP TO BE GRABBED BY HIS ONE AVAILABLE HAND... WAS AMAZING... JUST ONE OF THOSE SKILLS ONE NEVER SEES AS CRITICAL , UNTIL YOU CAN'T... IF HE COUD NOT DO THAT I AM NOT SURE HE COULD EVEN ATTEMPT BEING A TREE CUTTER DOWNER...
****SORT OF LIKE THE PARKINSON PATIENT WHO WANTS/ NEEDS TO GO TO THE SUPERMARKET TO BUY THE FOOD FOR THANKSGIVING DINNER, BUT CAN'T STEP UP THE CURB OUT OF THE PARKING LOT.
AAAHHHHH --- THE WHIFFLE BAR-- THE ROOF HAS BEEN SITTTING ON THE GROUND FOR MONTHS JUST WAITING FOR SOME BRAVE SOULS TO RIGHT IT AGAIN ON IT'S WOBBLY LEGS-- AND WITH A GREAT DEAL OF EFFORE AND MULTIPLE HANDS ( I.E. 2 PER 6 PEOPLE) GOT IT UP AND SOME TRIANGLES THAT WILL HELP... I FER THAT UNTIL WE GET IT ANCHORED DOWN , IT MIGHT STILL HAVE THE ABILITY TO SAIL OFF INTO THE NEIGHBORS YARD IN A STIFF BREEZE-- I CAN HERE HIM NOW.... INSTEAD OF COMPLAING ABOUT THE DOGS, HE COULD CALL THE BUILDING INSPECTOR-- WITH A " YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHAT THAT CRAZY OUTFIT HAS DONE NOW..". E DO HAVE A STORM COMING TODAY.. AND WE DO HAVE A SMALL COLLECTION OF CONCREETE BLOCKS.. SO MAYBE......
OUR CHICKENS ARE REALLY MOST PROFESSIONAL AT THE PROMPT SELECTION OF SHATUPON WINNERS... SLIGHT PROBLEM WITH THE FLYING PURPLE EGG GETTING LODGED BEFORE FALLIN G ONTO THE BOARD... IT WAS EASILY DISLODGED BY THE SECOND EGG- AND EVERYONE WAS VERY PLEASED... GO AHEAD AND LAUGH... AS WE TAKE OUR $20,000 / MONEHT TO THE BANK SO WE CAN CONTINUE TO DONATE DOGS...IT HAS TOBE THE WORLDS MOST RIDICULOUS PROJECT.. BUT IF IT WORKS...... DON'T FIX IT.
.... HOWEVER..... BETWEEN BREAKING TOO SOON AND NOT BREAKING AT ALL, WE MUST BE MORE SCIENTIFIC ABOUT THE BOILING OF THE EGG IN PURPLE DYE.. FOR 1 MINUTE 45 SECONDS..
THAT TRACTOR HAS TO BE ONE OF THE EASIEST THINGS TO USE -- ONE LEVER ,MOVES TEH BUCHET UP... AND DOWN MOVE IT BACK AND FORTH AND IT SCOOPS OR DUMPS--- TO DRIVE, PUSH THE LEVER WITH YOUR TOE AND IT CRAWLS FORWARD... SAME LEVER WITH YOUR HEEL AND IT CRAWLS BACKWARD.. THE ONLY PROBLEM CAN BE IS... IF YOU ASK IT TO BACK UP AND A CAR IS IN THE WAY, IT WILL BACK UP ANYWAY...PUSHING THAT CAR AS IF IT WAS NOT EVEN THERE. FOR A SMALL MACHINE IT HAS INCREDIBLE POWER... AND HYDRAULICS ARE WONDERFUL, BUT UNFORGIVING... MADE POSSIBLE BECAUSE YOU CAN NOT COMPRESS FLUIDS- DEBBIE AND FAMILY EACH TOOK TURNS TURNING OVER THE SAND PILE... - THAT WAS PRACTICE... NOW IF I AM LUCKY , I CAN GET THEM TO DO SOMETHING USEFUL TODAY..... LIKE TURN OVER THE MANURE PILE AND ADD LIME AT THE SAME TIME... THESE YOUNG MALE PEOPLE JUST LOVE TO DRIVE THINGS...
THERE WAS MORE TO THE POSSIBLE MINDY RELOCATION THAN MEETS THE EYE... MINDY DID SEEM TO GRAVITAT TO THE FAMILY...AND THEN I FOUND OUT THE FAMILY "BUSINESS" WAS IN TEH DELIVERY OF FOOD ITEMS TO SUPERMARKETS-- AND HAVING THE ABILITY TO PRODUCE... WITH NO PROBLEM 50 POUNDS OF CARROTS. AS I CONSIDERED THAT....THE POSIBILITIES WERE ENDLESS-- BETWEEN MINDY'S REACTION TO THEM AND THE 50 POUNDS OF CARROTS, I DECIDED IT WAS GOLDIE IN ACTION AGAIN, AND SUGGESTED AN OVERNIGHT. I AWAIT THE REPORT..... WHO KNOWS... MAYBE HE CAN GET US A CARTON OF BLACK RASSBERRY YOGURT BARS...AND MINDY WOULD BE HAPPIER...
TODAY'S MAJOR JOBS--
** MONITOR THE HEAVY RAIN W/R/T THE 4" DRAIN PIPE WE PUT IN THE DONKEY VIEWING AREA
**PUT TOGETHER ONE PIECE OF THE ROOF- AND CHECK IT FOR PATERN-- I HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO GET THESE ROOF ANGLES EXACT-- A CARPENTER SHOWED ME ONCE-- BUT HE WENT TOO FAST AND I HAVE NEVER GOT IT RIGHT. IT DOES NOT SOUND VERY HARD.... WHERE THE 2 ROOF RAFTERS MEET THE ANGLE HAS TO E 90 DEGREES TO THE GROUND ( LEVEL) WHICH MEANS WHERE IT SITS ON THE WALLS, YOU NEED THAT SAME ANGLE AND ONE AT RIGHT ANGLE TO IT... IT IS ALL HIGH SCHOOL GEOMETRY--
PLUS AN ACCURACY LONG MISSING IN MY "ALMOST-- CLOSE ENOUGH " MENTALITY. IN NEW ENGLAND .. WE ARE TALKING "SNOW LOAD" AND THIS "ALMOST" CAN GET INTO TROUBLE WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT "SUPPORT"
**WHILE THAT IS GOING ON... WE NEED TO MOVE ALL THE LUMBER TO THE AREA OF THE "SHED THAT IS BEING REBUILT" BECAUSE IT ID TIGHT IN THAT DRIVEWYA AND I COULD NOT GET IT DELIVERED THERE... MANY TRACTOR TRIPS COMPLICATED BY THE FACT THAT THE PARKING PIT HAS 2 TREES 9 FEET APART JUST TO KEEP YOU AHONEST........ A CAR/TRACTOR CAN EASILY GET THRU, BUT NOT WHILE CARRYING 12 LUMBER AND STUFF. NEXT BIG QUESTON... THE BLUE PICKUP-- I KNOW DOES NOT HAVE AN 8' BED... BUT IF IT HAS A 6' BED... CAN WE BALANCE THE 12 ' LUMBER WITH THE JUDICIOUS USE OF A FEW CONCRETE BLOCKS.?
THAT WHOLE THING OUGHT TO GIVE THESE YOUNG "EAGER TO DRIVE ANYTHING " MALES SOMETHING TO DO... AND TO FIGURE OUT.... IT WILL REQUIRE DEVELOPING A TEAM EFFORT...
I HAVE DECIDED A LOT OF THINGS... ONE OF THEM BEING ONE REASON WE HAVE SUCH SUCCESSFUL BUNCH OF TEENS IS THAT I GIVE THEM JOBS AND DON'T TELL THEM WHAT TO DO... JUST GET IT DONE... FORCING THEM TO THINK.. THE KIDS WHO HAVE BEEN HERE FOR A WHILE ARE SUPER ! YOU MAY THINK IT A FANTASTIC WAY TO TEACH KIDS.. WHAN ACTUALLY IT IS MY ABILITY TO FORGET WHAT I WAS DONG ANYWAY,,
BUT IF IT WORKS ... DON;T FIX IT... AND OUR TEENS ARE TERRIFIC... AND I HAVE A PERFECT EXCUSE FOR BEING LAZY...
TODAY ASHER AND I RETURNED TO THE SERVICE DOG PROJECT FOR THE DAY TO UNWIND FROM OUR BUSY WEEK AND JOIN IN THE FUN FOR OUR FIRST IN-PERSON SHATTING SUNDAY! IT WAS SO NICE TO BE BACK AT THE FARM TO SEE OUR FRIENDS AND TO MEET SOME PEOPLE I MISSED DURING TRAINING. ALWAYS FUN TO BE CAUGHT ON THE EXPLORE.ORG CAMERAS, TOO! ASHER WAS SO HAPPY AND EXCITED ALL DAY TO SAY HI TO HIS DOG AND HUMAN FRIENDS - HE GOT TO ROAM AROUND ON HIS OWN FOR MOST OF THE DAY AND GO FOR A GOOD RUN WITH RUBY, BUT HE WAS ALWAYS HAPPY TO RUN BACK TO ME AT MY EVERY CALL! WE'VE HAD SUCH A WONDERFUL MONTH TOGETHER AND I WAS THRILLED TO REALLY SEE HOW WE'VE BONDED FOLLOWING OUR INITIAL TRAINING AT THE FARM. ASHER KNOWS WHO HIS PERSON IS, EVEN ON HIS HOME TURF! IT WAS SUCH A WONDERFUL DAY SPENT AWAY FROM WORK AND SCHOOL AT A PLACE WE BOTH LOVE. WE CAN'T WAIT TO BE BACK AT CRAZY ACRES AGAIN SOON!

SUPER SUNDAY... THERE WILL BE ALOT GOING ON...IN ADDITION TO PLAIN OLD OPEN HOUSE-- IT IS CHICKEN SUNDAY TO CHOOSE TEH E NEWEST LIFETIME MEMBER OF THE SHATUPON SOCIETY AT 3PM--TEHRE WILL BE A DONKEY WANDER/WALK AT 10:30am I AM TOLD... COUSIN DEB WILL BE EHRE WITH HER 2 "BORN THE SAME DAY" BOYS ( GOING TO STOP CALLING THEM TWINS TIL I FIGURE OUT IF THAT IS BY NOW... NOT A GOOD TITLE..)AND TO CAP IT ALL OFF TEH TREE CLIMBER IS COMING TO ENTERTAIN US---WE DO HAVE A BUNCH OF NEAR DISASTER TREES WHICH NEED ATTENTION...-- THE WORST BEING A BIG 6 INCH LIMB... DEAD... EXCACTLY OVRE TEH GATE... ALONG WITH MANY OF THOSE UPSODE DOWN ... V's.... THAT GET CAUGHT MID FLIGHT... BEING HELD IN PLACE FWHILE THEY AWAIT THE NEXT HURICANE..
I AM NOT SURE WHY, BUT MY IMPRESSION OF A NICELY KEPT HOME HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH LAWNS OR HOUSE PAINT... BUT WELL KEPT TREES... WITH OUT ALL THE SHORT BROKEN SMALL BRANCHES-- WE HAVE A WAY TO GO ... BUT HOPEFULLY THIS "TREE GUY" CAN DO 2 OR 3 DAYS HERE AND CLEAN US UP.--
I REMEMBER----- HERE WE GO....W/R/T TREE CLIMBERS....I HAVE A FRIEND WHO HAD 2 KIDS-- DELIVERING ONE INTHE FRONT OF A PICKUP ON THE WAY TO THE HOSPITAL AND SHE HAD AN AWFUL TIME CONVINCING HER HUSBAND TO CONTINUE TO THE HOSPITAL INSTEAD OF GOING BACK TO GETTING THE HAY IN....ALSO ( TEH SAME HUSBAND WANTED TO CALL THE CHILD "FORD" FOR THAT REASON)-- VERY BRIGHT PEOPLE WHO DID NOT BELIEVE IN BOIXES TO BE OUT OF.-- SHE MANAGED A BARN FULL OF ANIMALS--- AND I SAW WITH MY OWN EYES,.. ONE DAY SHE SENT HER BOYS OFF TO GET THE SCHOOL BUS WITH A CUP OF HORSES SWEET FEED FOR BREAKFAST..... SHE HAD ONCE WORKED IN A GRAIN MILL AND DECLARED IT CERTAINLY WAS NOT WORSE THAN THE CEREAAL IN BOXES...
JUMP 20 YEARS LATER, I MET ONE HF HER "BOYS" HIGH IN A TREE-- 6'2 WITH EYES OF BLUE-- THE KIND OF GUY THEY HIRE TO MAKE ADS FOR SOME MUSCLE BUILDING GOOP.-- SO SHE WAS RIGHT WITH THE HORSE FEED...
I HAD HOPED TO CHALLANGE THE 2 ....BORN AT THE SAME TIME... BROTHERS TO BUILDING A SHED UNDER THE ROOF TO THE "WHIFFLE BAR" ----- WE ARE 2 SHEDS DOWN-- SO FAR---- WITH 2 COLLAPSING UNDER THE WEIGHT OF 4 BUTTERFLIES... NOT SURE HOW THEY WILL DEAL... BRIGHT KIDS-- I WILL LET THEM KNOW WHAT HAS FAILED SO FAR...-- BUT THE THIBNG IS ALMOST A CIRCLE-- WHICH IS NOT A GOOD START FOR CONSTRUCTION..... I BOUGHT A BUNCH OF 2 X 3'S ..ALONG WITH 2 X 4'S....I AM NOT SURE WHY--- WE NEED TH E WHIFFLE BAR FOR DOG FEST
OTHERS YOU MAY SEE....
MARK WILL BE COOKING??? HAMBURGERS AND OTHER BURGERS...- WE COULD HAVE A BUNCH OF PEOPLE...
WE HAVE ACQUIRED ANOTHER VOLUNTEER YOU MAY SEE IN THE VICINITY OF TANNER....... TOM.. A PERSON OUT OF COLLEGE, LOOKING FOR A REAL EDUCATION... AND WHERE BETTER THAN HERE??
I AM TOLD WE HAVE A SCREAMING WILD ANINAM BEHIND GRACE'S CHICKENS...---SOUNDS LIKE MATING SEASON FOR FISCHER CATS... ALWAYS A POPULAR ITEM WITH THE DOGS AND NEIGHBORS... WE DO HAVE WILLOWDALE STATE FOREST BEHIND US.... I USUALLY SAY 2000 ACRES- BECAUSE I DON'T REALLY KNOW... I DO KNOW IT IS ENOUGH FOREST FOR ME TO GET TOTALLY LOST IN ONE DAY... I WAS ON MY DAUGHTERS HORSE TRYING TO IDENTIFY A TRAIL FOR A 4 H TRAILRIDE...
I THOUGHT THE HORSE WOULD BRING ME HOME-- IT DID NOT... AND I ENDED UP 2 TOWNS AWAY AND HAD TO CALL FOR A HORSE TRAILER TO COME GET US... I WAS EVEN INTO THE MOSS IS ON THE NORTH SIDE OF TREES.... AND LISTENING FOR RT 95-- BIG TIME LOST.. THAT FOREST IS FULL OF GLACIER ESKERS? WHERE YOU RIDE /WALK ALONG A TALL NARROW RIDGE WITH A DROP OFF ON BOTH SIDES TO A MUCKY MESS.
THE KIND OF TRAIL NOT CONDUSIVE TO TAKING A SHORTCUT TO ANOTHER RIDGE.
SOMEBODY SENT ME THIS.... IT IS AN INTERESTING "GEORGE AND BELLA" STORY WHICH CAN BE COPY AN D PASTED???

topic of the day--- me and my toothbrush...... there are sometimes tiny things in the news that are not there by accident-- the THEY--- whoever THEY are --- get teh general public used to hearing something...and later comes some wierd unexpected twist... this morning ... for the first time i heard " the lettuce crop in the US state of california is withering in the heat" and next "the murders will stand trial in the US state of Indiana" ----- what is with the "US state of" bit..is there some rumor around that america is actually going to fracture.. ?? they continued that US state of all thru that newscast.. very odd...
i remember the good old days when the big job around was to be an news editor who verified the spelling and accuracy of anything about to go in print.. then comes the internet-- and very inexpensive printers -easily purchased .. and the verification process is totally lost on "the printed word" but there is a lesson there... it is the cumulation of the tiny drops of ink that is the expensive thing ... on which these manufacturers of printers thrive...
there is a bit of a stretch to see a paralell between big tv corporations -- using tv news shows to put out information--... that information is the ink of the process... it is "used" in such tiny amounts that it sometimes seems inconsequential -- but someone has figured out that the sum of the drips moves mountains.
There was an expression "don't anger anyone who buys ink by the barrel" so now... don't anger anyone who has an avenue to distributing crapola without a editing filter.... and that is the internet/facebook....( example ...----SDP has bred audrey anyway !!)
i like to think i am aware that if the "rate of increase in jobs has gone DOWN" & if you are not listening carefully, the word DOWN sticks, however.... it means jobs are still on the increase...
i take pride in that concept-- and then i needed an new toothbrush... clear as a bell i decided i must have an electric toothbrush that goes round in circles.... far superior to the forth kind... i must have one like that-- and ebay provided one for me.. i was very happy... until i saw... and thought about the commercial that had put all that in my head.. word for word...without my even suspecting it had happened.
now that toothbrush serves to terrify me on a daily basis...... with all this crapola spiiling out around me-- what do i have lodged in my head that does not belong there?
even the age related ability to forget just about everything has not saved me from the "hidden persuaders" .. Madison Avenue has gone virally world wide...
If you need further parallel visions, google madison avenue and you will learn.....
1. "Madison Avenue techniques" refers, to the . methodology of advertising.- the "gimmicky, slick use of the communications media to play on emotions."
2 .Madison Avenue was not part of the original New York City street plan. and was carved between 4th and 5th avenue.
3. it is one way...
i had intended to do a DD about teh ny times article about controling mosquitos by using a fan instead of chemicals... which i have promoted since 1998 when i found that the deagle house and a fan with a net was 40000 times more efficient than the $500 mosquito mgnet .
w/r/t that mosquito mqgnet-- i tried to give it away 3 times.. and people kept giving it back to me... just last week , i put it out on the street... and no one would even take it.. so it has gone to the "transfer station" aka dump...
just one more example of what i was convinced i must buy...
does that mean my mind is teh dump of mis- information planted carefully by some evil empire?
not going there...
Another reason I love watching this cam is for all the information you learn on here..Last night our 8 year mastiff came into the room and he didn't look right He tried to vomit but nothing came up and he was all bloated I told my husband we have to get him to a emergency vet now. We
drove to Center City Phila and just what I thought he had bloat. Very scary watching your poor baby like that but they operated right away and hours later he is doing well. Elvis will be ready to come home this afternoon. He also had his stomach tacked so hopefully it won't happen again...If I
didn't watch this cam so much ( I don't think my husband will complain any longer) we would have had a much different outcome
Thank you Service Dog Project cheers Debbie
here is how to start going to law school...
T'S BEEN A BRUTAL WEEK OF MOCK CLASSES AT OUR NEW LAW SCHOOL, AND TO SAY THAT WE'RE EXCITED THAT IT'S FRIDAY IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT! THIS WEEK ASHER AND I - ALONG WITH ABOUT 40 OTHER INCOMING 1LS - HAD A CRASH COURSE IN SOME FAMILY LAW ISSUES TO HELP US LEARN SOME IMPORTANT STRATEGIES WE'LL NEED DURING LAW SCHOOL LIKE CASE BRIEFING, LEGAL WRITING, AND OUTLINING FOR EXAMS. ASHER WAS WELCOMED TO LAW SCHOOL BY THE DEAN HIMSELF, AND THAT WAS ONE OF THE FIRST TIMES I'D SEEN ASHER HAPPY TO MEET A MAN SINCE HE'S QUITE A BIT MORE COMFORTABLE AROUND WOMEN. DEAN YELNOSKY IS A DOG PERSON, AND ASHER MUST HAVE BEEN ABLE TO TELL. I THINK THEY'LL BE BUDDIES!
ASHER HAS BEEN A PERFECT GENTLEMAN ALL WEEK, AND HE'S HAD TO PUT UP WITH A LOT OF DIFFERENT THINGS AND UNFAMILIAR PLACES. LUNCHES THIS WEEK WERE EITHER AT NICE RESTAURANTS WITH ALUMNI OR CATERED BUFFETS, AND AT NO POINT DID ASHER HELP HIMSELF TO A SNACK WHEN HE EASILY COULD HAVE. CLASSES WERE LONG AND WE SAT IN THE CLASSROOM FOR A GOOD CHUNK OF OUR EIGHT-HOUR DAYS, AND ASHER WAS CONTENT TO LISTEN IN OR SNOOZE DURING OUR LECTURES. I HOPE HE PICKED UP ON A FEW ELEMENTS OF THE EQUAL PROTECTION CLAUSE THOUGH - I'M EXPECTING HIS HELP ON TOMORROW MORNING'S MOCK EXAM!
WHEN WE WEREN'T MEETING NEW PEOPLE OR SITTING IN CLASS, WE WERE MEETING SOME NEW FRIENDS AT BOWLING NIGHT OR TOURING THE RHODE ISLAND DISTRICT COURT. I'D BEEN IN THE COURTHOUSE A FEW TIMES FOR WORK, BUT THIS WAS ASHER'S FIRST TIME. IT'S ALWAYS FUNNY TO WALK UP TO THE FRONT OF A SECURITY LINE, WHETHER IN AN AIRPORT OR WHEN WALKING INTO COURT - MOST PEOPLE HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO WITH HE AND I WHEN IT COMES TO METAL DETECTORS. ASHER'S BEEN VERY PATIENT WITH PAT-DOWNS AND WANDS TO HIS VEST, AND I GUESS NEXT TIME I HAVE TO GO TO COURT WE'LL BE EASILY RECOGNIZABLE! WE HAD A FUN TIME SEEING SOME OF THE COURT'S MORE PRIVATE AREAS AND GETTING A FULL HISTORY OF OUR STATE'S FEDERAL COURTHOUSE. ASHER SAYS FORGET THE WHOLE LAW SCHOOL THING - WE ALREADY LOOK THE PART AND ARE READY TO BE SWORN IN!
WE JUST HAVE A FEW MORE HOURS LEFT OF OUR PROGRAM FOR THE WEEK, WHICH ENDS WITH THE MOCK EXAM AND REVIEW TOMORROW MORNING. THIS WEEK HAS BEEN GRUELING FOR BOTH OF US, BUT WE'RE VERY EXCITED FOR OUR ROAD TRIP ON SUNDAY - WE'LL BE HEADED BACK TO SERVICE DOG PROJECT FOR THE DAY! I'M SO EXCITED FOR SOME TIME TO UNWIND AND TO SPEND THE DAY AT ONE OF OUR FAVORITE PLACES. WE'RE ESPECIALLY EXCITED BECAUSE THIS IS OUR FIRST IN-PERSON SHATTING SUNDAY - WE HAVE OUR BRICKS READY!! YOU MIGHT JUST SEE US ON CAMERA DURING THE SHATTING ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON, SO MAKE SURE TO TUNE IN!

we --- peg...bud.. and i..---. went to meet with rep hill and senator tarr at the state house yesterday.. we had a long meeting... fortunately they had heard of SDP before and were quite sympathetic with our problems and the fact that bentley has had no pups since last january... certainly far beyond the normal range of the problems visitors come to them with.... they asked us to get together additional information which peg and i will do ?starting today??? peg???
peg is focused.. fortuantely around here we have several people who can stay focused amid all kinds of distrctions.... ann is another... and annie.. the list is endless... fortunately....
frannie got here and maybe the rest of her family will arrive today-- i have some roofing jobs maybe her boys could solve.... we have a new building with no roof.. an old building which need s a new roof, and a roof leaning against teh shop which needs a new building.
the roof with no building is the most "pressing" we need that for dog fest.... it is where we sold extra shirts, monkey fists and other SDP items..
it has a big label " the whiffle bar" -- but it is only a roof...
problem is... it does not have a rectangle in it... 5 sided... the first year it had walls sloped outward-- with a shelf on each of the 5 sides for the display of items.. pretty successful but the walls lacked uniformity.. so the next person to work on it made walls vertical- perfecdtly straight... a new concept around here... but they lacked the stability of the triangular shape.. and it fell over... leaving the whiffle bart in the state it now is in... roof on the ground... no building for it to be the roof over...
so i had a bunch of 2 x 3's delivered in prep for the arrival of the young men from washington--- let them put something together-- the did fine with the origional tee pee..
i also had 2 x 6's delivered in prep for roofing the new "shed... "--- which will allow us to expand our donkey operation. -
janine has decided to hold a "donkey derby" at the very exclusive myopia polo club on sept 9th which just might be the event of the year there...... i say "exclusive" but note... for years it has been exclusive of donkeys-- and would only allow the most expensive of thorobreds to perform there in several roles... mostly polo ponies... if she manages to get enough people to come ... it could be i big deal....
i remember....... back when i had many donkeys and needed to find a use for them ( sort of like the 23 great dane pups that prompted me to start SDP...) there was the exclusive myopia driving club-- who's members really did everything right -- with hystorically correct vehicles and attire-
some competed internationally-- now think... internationally was more tha canada a dn mexco... but britain germany and Hungary which meant getting theri horses ... usually 4 of them- plus equipment etc over the atlantic...
this was not for the meek at heart.... they would arrive wherever with the correct, spotlessly clean horses harness even a driving apron.
they practiced ahead of time and were good... big time good.
into this environment , enter me with 32" tall donkeys-- a lot of them...i casually said i was going to drive 8 in a formal hitch... like teh budweisers..
let me be clear... maintaining a herd of 30 donkeys was still much cheaper than one horse.... and it has been said... donkeys are idiot proof-- a claim we went on to prove so many times,,,'' i eventually did get to drive all 8-- in very strange places.. like hotel ballrooms...with antlers... but seeing as it required such an effort to crawl around on your knees to put all hta harness on 8 mini doneys. that we we rarely practiced did it mostly for performaces... because we found a bucket of carrots worked better than hours of training.... if we could get the front 2 going in the right direction the other 6 would have to go with them as they were all tied together with the harness...
an example... we had a parade where we were in front of teh budweiser hitch of perfectly trained clydesdale horses-- each weighing over 2000 pounds... i knew the parade route would be ovresome trolley tracks in boston-- and those always made the donkeys stop a dn look at them fro 5 minutess before crossing.... with 8 tons of horse behind me... we could not stop and live to tell it..... so we took 2 garbage can lids.. 5 pounds of sliced carrots and my kids as "sidewalkers" held teh lids with carrots under the noses of the lead team thus obliterating the vision of teh train tracks from the leaders... so they walked across...
back to my membership in this exclusive driving club-- the last meeting i went to there was a discussion about how perfectly all the members presented the horse and carriage--- and someone in the back said "but carlene is the only one having any fun"
i liked that comment.... perfection has always been a difficult concept for me... my heart is in jerry rigging...
I wanted to share a short story. Yesterday, we were walking through the hall at school, when I stumbled and started to fall. Clark braced immediately and didn't move a muscle--he did NOT want me to fall--and was so steady and sturdy for me. We managed to save it, and I found my balance again.
It took Clark some time when we were first paired to figure out how I fall and how he can catch me, but he knows immediately now.
From my perspective, that must be one of the hardest skills for a dog to learn. To brace and stay as still as a statue, even though a person's weight is pulling them down. I would say it takes some quick thinking and stubbornness. :) But I am not the one who teaches that skill, so I don't know for sure, but that's what I see. So thank you for my smart, determined dog!
danes are born trained-- just don't wreck them...
