FIRST CHALLANGE MET-- I DON'T OFTEN DRIVE IN THE DARK- ONLY BECAUSE  I DON'T WNAT TO GO MOST PLACES WHEN I REALLY WANT TO BE ASLEEP=  BUT GWEN NEEDED A RIDE TO THE AIRPORT SHUTTLE  SO AT 3:45AM I WAS FACED WITH  HOW TO TURN ON TH E LIGHTS IN THE CAR I HAVE OWNED FOR 4 YEARS??
EVER SINCE TEH CAR BEGAN TO DECIDE WHEN TO DO WHAT, I LOST INTEREST ( AND ABILITY) TO  MANUAL DO ABOUT ANYTHNG WIT IT.  IT WAS NICE TO HAVE GWEN VISIT-- SHE FINALLY GOT THE BACK WINDSHIEL WIP-[ER TURNED OFF-- IT HAS BEEN ON FOR A WHILE...
SHE ALSO INFORMED ME THAT  THERE ARE INDEED  POSTERS NEXT TOTHE ROAD WITH 65 ON THEM-- I HAD NEVER NOTICED ONE BEFORE-  AND SWORE THERE WERE STILL 55 ONES THERE-- TEHRE ARE ALOT OF ONES THAT SAY 95--  BUT SHE TELLS ME THOSE ARE ROUTE NUMBERS NOT SPEED LIMITS.
SHE INTRODUCED SO MANY NEW CONCEPTS--LIKE UBER FOOD-- NOW THERE IS ONE I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT.SHE ALSO MOVED  A SOFA IN TEH GUEST HOUSE AND POINTED OUT THAT ALTHO THE PLACE LOOKS VERY TIDY, THERE IS A WHOLE WORLD   "BEHIND" THINGS/- SHE SUGGESTED TEH NEXT CREW FROKM GENERAL ELECTRIC .  OH DEAR.... AND TEH GOOGLE GUESTS ARE ARRIVING--THEY SHOULD HAVE ALREADY LANDED ON THE RED EYE FROM CALIF-- AND I AM WAITING FOR TEH POHONE CALL TO SAY THEY ARE NON THE  6AM SHUTTLOE TO PEABODY-- WHERRE I JUST LEFT OFF GWEN AT 4AM..
***
I PICKED UP TEH 12 PASSENGER VAN-- LOOKS RAND NEW.. SPOTLESS- I CERTAINLY HOPE IT IS NOT ONE OF THOSE WHICH AUTOMATICALLY LOCKS ALL TEH DOORS- OR I WILL HAVE ANOTHER   UNANTICIPATED CHALLAGE.

GOT TO GT OUT THE "MOVING BLANKETS AND SOME FLUFFIES- BECAUSE NOT ONLY TECHS AND PROFESSORS, BUT WE WILL HAVE 2 DANES WITH US.. THEY ARE THE INTRODUCTION TO ALL THESE PLACES- PEOPLE KNOW THOSE 2 DANES.  SIZZLE AND BENTLEY.
****

THE ONLY FYI I CAN THINK OF FOR TEH DAY -- IS.. ON THE NORTHBOUDN LANE OF ROUTE 1  IN PEABODY- MASS   TEHRE IS "REDS"  WHICH IS AN HONEST TRAILER STOP SERVING BREAKFAST  OR STEAK DINNERS 24 HOURS A DAY-- AND A DARN GOOD FOOD  AT THAT -- ESPECIALLY EGGS BENEDICT-
***
THE PICTURES OF MY FAMILY WALKABOUT ON STILTS IS AROUND-- I THINK VANESSA TOOK SOME- ALL3 OF US-- GWEN, JANINE, AND ME PLUS 2 VERY CONFUSED DOGS.- I SHOULD SAY 2.1 CONFUSED DOGS ( 2 DANES AND A JACK RUSSEL)
**
PHONE SHOUJLD RING  THEY SHOULD HAVE LANDED BYNOW...
I DON'T HAVE THE FLIGHT NUMBERS OR I WOULD BE WATCHIGN   "FLIGHTAWARE"

BETTER GRAB ANOTHER CUPPA

Pictures below are of Rizz and I at yesterday’s Petoberfest event, which had over 700 dogs in attendance.  As you can see, Rizz has NO issues with other dogs.  She also had to deal with the thousands of people, barking dogs, and children in attendance - as always, she was a perfect example of the well trained service dogs produced by SDP.  Due to her modeling skills, we also sold lots of products and made $120 for SDP which I will be sending at the end of the month in addition to  what we make at next weekend’s event.

I am so glad you took a chance on us - hope you are too!

OCT 20 2019

quick run to the airport for the 12 seater van ( from hertz) for tomorrows ROAD SHOW PROJECT with the google team  and professor(s)   i gave up on "excedrine car rental" company- i can't remember their name i--- it begins with  E and was such a headache all i can think of is excedrine for a name.----\hertz is not without annoyances---  i called...  .. wanna rent press1 --- next question ..  are yo over 55? press 1--and it started-- "have you tought of a lifesaver button to push in case you start having a heart attack-- the symptoms of which i would like to list ofr your......." and it went on and on..so i hung up and screamed obsentaties for at leaSt 14 minutes.... before i realized i coudl call back and say no.. which got me to a hertz person who easily booked a van for me to pick up at teh airport this morning.

HAVING A HANDICAPPED STICKER, I RARELY HAVE TO PUMP GAS-- SO I WAS UNAWARE OF THE TV SHOW AT THE GAS PUMPS...
THAT WAS AS BIG A SHOCK AS BEING INVADED WITH COMMERCIAL WHEN TRYING TO RENT A CAR.-- THE PACKAGE TAPE ON THE AMAZON PACKAGES NOW HAS COMMERCIALS ON IT.. IS THERE NO  OPPORTUNITY  LEFT TO LOAD UP  WITH AN  ADVERTISING  OPPORTUNITY?? TOILET PAPER????
****
AND THEN THERE IS  THE RAISING OF CHILDREN--- YESTERDAY-- ON THE WAY TO THE PUB FOR LUNCH-- WE PAASSED A VERY EXPENSIVE PLAYGROUND WITH  PLASTIC SHIPS, SLIDES  AND SWINGS - NOT ONE KID  ON THE ENTIRE 3 ACRES OF PLAYGROUND
THERE COULD BE ALOT OF REASONS....  THE BIGGEST WAS RIGHT UP THE STREET WHERE TEH FARMERS MARKET WAS GIVING HAY RIDES PULLED BY A TRACTOR-- AN INACTIVE FUN ON THE FARM DAY FOR PARENTS AND KIDS TO GET THE "FEEL OF FARMING"  WHILE SITTING ON A WAGON--  AND TEH FARM HAS TO IMPORT A PLANE LOAD OF IMMIGRANTS EVRY  GROWING SEASON TO DO TH E ACTUAL  WORK...  ( FACT --THEY ALL GO HOME IN THE FALL) I COULD ONLY WONDER HOW MANY OF THAT WAGONLOAD OF PEOPPLE WERE ON THEIR CELL PHONES AT THE TIME...( I LIKE IMMIGRANTS--- I LIKE MY CORN AND SOME VEGGIES)
****
ONE OF THE FIRST DOGS I PUT  OUT WNET TO A WOMAN WHO BROKE DOWN WHEN HER NEW DOG GOT HER  UP A  4 INCH CURB TO GET TO THE SUPER MARKET. SO MANY TIME I PUT IN HERE WHAT WONDERFUL THINGS THE DOGS DO... AND I GOT THIS EMAIL MAYBE IT WILL MAKE YOU AWARE OF THE  TINY  ANNOYANCES SOMEONE HAS TO DEAL WITH  WITHOUT A DOG.

Elvis says it all for people like her human, so many others including myself!

Example,my husband is unwell this week pulling a muscle

I needed some items at a store which had no scooters or buggy's to lean on, they had for baskets with a handle and wheels where everyone was too busy to help so using my under arm crutches trying to pull the basket to collect my items now trying to handle 3 things and no balance falling once and finding a hand to pick my items up and put into the basket while trying to hold 2 crutches and a handle to the basket in one arm and hand, then switching the one crutch back to the free hand continuing to pull basket with hand and crutch to check out.

I use crutches underarm on these days to rest on when getting tired but a scooter is necessary for shopping.  Sometimes there are no scooters so I take a buggy to lean on putting my crutches inside the buggy and lean on it to free a hand to pick things up (which makes me very tired).

Anyway, I had a scooter going along by myself picking up my items when another guy passed me on a scooter who appears younger and I said hello as I do everyone.
We made a few comments as I moved on to my chores.

During my shopping  this man kept showing up in front of me causing me to stop!
He kept trying to talk with inappropriate conversation, I began by ignoring him.
Twice he showed up running into me from behind and I was now getting very uncomfortable.

I checked my things out and leaving the store he is now in a truck waiting outside sitting where I had to roll past him as he now wants to know if I had a light?
I again ignored and very frightened!

Using my crutches trying to put things in the car to leave ASAP I fell twice trying to get back up as this man is sitting in his truck watching me.
This was so scary I wasn't on my game getting the crutches and myself into the car for safety.

I locked my doors and called my husband and said "I've hit an all time low being hit on riding a scooter, falling 3 times, trying to control 2 crutches pulling a basket on wheels behind me and now a full car that needs unloading.    Husband I am too tired to cook -----I'm bringing drive threw food home!

No one can ever imagine how difficult the simplistic things they do are the most difficult things for a person who has no balance and some days just too weak to walk far.      Elvis and SDP a job well done!
******

It has been such an honor to watch Chip shine at SDP!  He is taking his role of "treat giving" to the dogs very seriously! He had been independent and driving himself but in August he had an accident and is no longer driving - so I have been taking him multiple times a week... consequently I have fallen in love with your dogs!  If there is a waitlist for dogs that do not work out to be service dogs could you put me on it?
I will be back next week with Chip!

OCT 19 2019
CAKE DAY-- AND I ALREADY DELIVERED MINE TO GEORGETOWN. ( BETSY DOES IPSWICH)
I HAD A NOTE FROM ELVIS--- THOUGHT YOU MIGHT LIKER THAT BETTER THAN MY RAMBLINGS
I WILL GO BACK TO MY GOAT PEN PROJECT TODAY

My name is Elvis and I’m a service dog.
My human came to the Boston from England for medical treatment in 2016. She expected to be here for no more than eight weeks; now, over three years later, she lives full-time in Boston.  She has a complex medical history including dystonia/muscle spasticity, which means that she walks differently than most people. Until I came into her life, she used a wheelchair or crutches for movement.
I was born and raised at the Service Dog Project in Ipswich, MA. I was trained as a mobility service dog and was donated to my human in May 2018. I help her walk, balance, and navigate the world. Since I came into her life she has been able to put her crutches and wheelchair away for the most part, although when she does need her wheelchair I am also trained to pull that! She always tells me how much freedom I have given her. Before me she avoided a lot of things. When she came to a set of steps, she was frightened, knowing she would likely fall. When she slipped and stumbled, she often found herself stuck on the floor with her crutches, unable to get up.
Since I came into her life, we take on steps without a doubt. I stop numerous falls, supporting her when she stumbles. If I am unable to stop her from falling, no matter how hard I try, I am right there to get her off the floor. My human often tells me that it is the little moments that make her smile every day. These are simple freedoms like knowing she can step up onto the curb while walking down the street, or grab something off a shelf without losing her balance. I am always right by her side, and if she loses her balance, I’m there to catch her. When she becomes very dizzy or ends up passing out, I am there to support her. I know my human inside and out. I know the days we can play around and the days when I need to be more focused on keeping her safe. I brace to keep her upright, lay under her legs when she is unconscious, and do all I can to support her. I am basically a moving crutch with four legs and a huge heart!
We have been through numerous hospital admissions, surgeries, and emergency room trips together. No matter what situation she puts me in, I am always there to help her navigate the world despite her chronic medical conditions. We have ups and downs, but stick together. For instance, at the beginning of this year my human was really not well at all. Through a long hospital stay, I made sure I slept at the end of her bed every night. I helped her take her first steps during the really tough moments after her surgeries. While I was trained specifically for mobility, during the time we have been a team, I have learned how to read her other medical signals. I am now very in tune with my human. I tend to notice when she is feeling off before she does. Sometimes I can tell that her blood sugar is off, or that she is having a bad mobility day, or that her cardiac issues are acting up. I make sure to tell her when things are off. In this way, I have saved her from getting very sick or hurt multiple times.
I’m not sure people always realize how important I am to my human and how much I have changed her life. I have prevented multiple emergency room visits, concussions, and injuries.  Perhaps even more important, I have allowed my human to grow so much more confident about living life despite her medical challenges. I have helped remind her that she is so much more than her medical conditions, no matter what they try throwing at her. Looking back at our time together, it is incredible seeing all the achievements she has accomplished with me by her side. I also know that her friends and family are so grateful that my human can live life independently now that she has me. She can have the life she wants, because she is never alone. I always keep an eye on her.

Image Description: Elvis and his human in the hospital. Elvis is wearing scrubs and his human is smiling broadly.
Balancing school, health, an internship, and life can seem quite challenging at times, but we embrace every moment. We made a promise to ourselves to live life to the fullest, make the best memories, and pursue our goals without looking back. My human also has some incredible doctors that helped inspire her passion to work in medicine. (Not that she needed much pushing! She has been known to take her finals in the hospital the night before surgery.) She just loves to help people, especially children, in any way she can. In fact, we both love volunteering with kids. Before me, she couldn’t do this volunteer work very often because of her mobility challenges. Now, we do it together all the time.
I would be lying if I said there weren't any moments where my human’s health scares us! There are definitely tough days, especially during hospital stays. Through it all, however, she has a determination that never seems to fade. She says that she couldn’t do it without me or the support system she has built. We help her “just keep swimming”, a saying that she holds on to in those tough moments. We always keep swimming, no matter what life throws at us, together. There’s another saying she says a lot, which I like. When people doubt her ability to pursue her goals, or try to put limits on her, she says: “Just because my path is different, doesn’t mean I am lost.” We walk through the world together, and that might seem different to some people, but we are definitely not lost. While we never expected our journey to look like this, we know we are exactly where we need to be.
I am Service Dog Elvis and I have helped give my human her life back. You can follow my adventures on Instagram @servicedogelvis and my trainers, The Service Dog Project, at @servicedogproject!

quick doggie ..
gwen's roadshow input  pertaining to operating teh smart tv's and related equipment-- typed by her ( probably spelled correctly0

Part of the planning for the senior center road show, the thing to get the explore cameras going on the smart tv's, needs to include a plan for the next day. The day after these things get up and running, the shift will change, a new person comes along and moves the google device to the side. Now it's out of range and can't reach the wifi. So it doesn't work that day. The next shift comes in and does not know what the thing is, and puts it in a drawer and everyone forgets where it is. Is it battery operated? That means it's not tethered by a cable and can wander off. Are there buttons and settings that can accidentally be changed? And only 1 person who knows how to operate it? They will then proceed to go on vacation or go have a baby, and no one else will be able to get the thing working. Are the instructions documented, on a piece of laminated paper hanging on a hook in the office of the activities director? Maybe those directions need to be attached to a giant piece of wood, kind of like the key to the bathroom at a gas station. And when it does get lost, or spilled on, the activities director needs to be able to print another one. Stuff like that. There is a maintenance piece to this operation that also needs to be addressed.

THANK YOU GWEN... WE NEEDED THAT.

IT’S OFFICIAL! WE HAVE MORE THAN 1 MILLION VIEWS OF THE VIDEO OF SHAUNA AND KRINGLE GOING DOWN THE STAIRS AT HOME!

GOOD OLD GOLDIE.....THE CIRCLE TIGHTENS....ONE OF PAULA'S PUPS DOES LOOK "BLUE" - AND PAULA HAS PLENTY OF BLUE IN HER BACKGROUND  AS BLACK OUT OF BLUE IS OFTEN MIXED WITH BLACK OUT OF HARL.----- I ASKED CP'S TO LOOK OVER AN BLUE PUPS IN EUROPE--  AND A CP ( MARYELLEN) FOUND SOME... ?IN HUNGARY?( LEAN-ON-ME.EU)    I HAVE NOT HAD TIME TO DO A FULL SEARCH-- BUT IT LOOKS POSSIBLE.. -- I LIKE HUNGARY... BOBBY CAME VROM BUDAPEST ( HE WAS  BENTLEYS GRANDFATHER)  AND A QUICK LOOK AT THE PEDIGREE OF TEH PUPS INCLUDES  TOP GRANDFATHER -von-Haus-Tiefenbach-- ON THAT DIZZY TRIP THRU EUROPE WITH COLLEGE FRIEND GWEN, WE LANDED AT TIEFFENBACH-- I EVENTUALY IMPORTED A FEWP[ BLUE PUPS FROM THEM-- I THINK SHASHA? WAS TEH 20 YEAR OLD TYOPE PERSON RUNNING TEH KENNEL AND I RAN INTO THAT NAME TODAY'S PEDIGREE -
I ALSO RAN INTO THE DOG NAME  "NAHBAY"  WHICH IS THE STUD DOG WHO'S SPERM I  TRIED TO IMPORT IN THE  FRENCH AIRLINE -FEDEX- USDA- GEORGE MYERS- LIQUID NITROGEN REFILL( FROME AMESBURY MASS) - STORED FOR YEARS IN CALIFORNIA- AND UNSUCCESSFULLY  SURGICALLY IMPLANTED IN  RHODE ISLAND... AND IN BENTLEYS  SISTER "OPAL"  .. FIASCO...

YESTERDAY ---I WAS IN  AMESBURY AND SAID TO JANINE " UP THAT ROAD IS WHERE YOU GET INDUSTRIAL GASSES LIKE LIQUID NITROGEN..
SHE SAID SHE NHAD NOT NEED FOR LIQUID NITROGEN - AND I SAID "YOU DO NOT KNOW IF YOU EVER WILL THO"

SO-----WE NEED TO COMP-ARE PAULA'S PEDIGREE WOTH THOSE PUPS  AND SEE IF TEHY ARE STILL AVAILABLE.. WHATVER--- THERE IS ALOT OF RESEARCH TO DO./.. AND I CAN NOT GET AT IT TIL AFTER TEH  GOOGLE /EXPLORE EPISODE IS OVER NEXT WEEK-- WHEN WE FINISH UP  WITH THE AMESBURY COUNCIL ON AGING-- RIGHT DOWN THE STREET FROM THE LIQUID NITROGEN STORE !!!

NOT THAT I WILL EVER  CHEERFULLY ATTEMPT AN ARTIFICAIL IMPLAnt  again--- i have never had one be successful  and never had a natural cover fail-- plus it is easier to import the entire pup than to tangle with the usda  trying to import  just teh frozen sperm...
***
the other farm excitement is that  general electric -- 20 of them-- are coming here to volunteer  tomorrow-- friday--
and teh last piece of this 12 acres not  in use  will hopefully become  "goat  hill"
it is the area between the guest house and puppy hill-- needs a 6' fence between  and then the goats can climp that steep mess of tangled vegitation- and hopefully eat it.

OCT 16 2019
creativity !  as in that TED  lecture by ken robertson ( google it i have said beopfer -- should be read by anyone trying to raise children-- or grandchildren...) as we go around to set up these adult day care centers in a variety of financial levels-- i find--- some of teh most financially challanging adult day care centers are so much better off than the  day cares in the very wealthy community- and alot depends on teh"  get up and go"  of teh activities director- THE EXPENSIVE ONES HAve teh moen y to hire  people with the correct degrees..... they know alot of big words...

i don't want to poo poo  higher education  (HA ! )  but tehre is one  cheerful place where tehe activities director is a hot spook- with a ready laugh- very observant and does not miss a thing.-- how lucky they ar to have her--- and i wonder if they know that she should be making twice teh salary of teh  double degreed person who needs to fill in teh littel boxes of hte calendaR tO keep the directores happy aT THE NEXT MEETING.

THIS CONCEPT IS WHY-- I THINK-- ALL THSES PLACES HAVE THESE "SMART TV" S THAT ARE MORE FOR SHOW THAN USE...  THEY SIURE LOOK GOOD--- THATA BIG BLACK RECTANGLE ON THE WALL-- THAT NO ONE USES--
NOT ENOUGH 12 YEAR OLDS TO EKKP THEM RUNNING I GUESS..
we hope to change that.   with googles help  and someone named maureen  from wisconsin  --who is a dr of  gentxxxxxxxxx (old people).
well --- i am old--- have at it !!

IN TEH MEANTIME I HAVE RENTED A 12 PASSENGER VAN FOR MON TUES WHEN THESE PEOPLE WILL BE HERE SO WE CAL TALK AND TRAVEL/
****
couple   CP people are trying to locate a litter of blue danes-- there is sch a thing... blue is recessive so if both parents are blue- you will have blue pups.     that could be fun-  there is a "black out of blue-- where you might get some blue---  paula is that kind of bloodlines..
but since we import the stud anyway- i see no reason not to try for a blue stud--  migh make for some intereisting color  harlequins-- but we don't really mind-- must be a darn good blue-- probably from germany -- so we don't run into the rabies law that makes yo ship aq pup to spain to get to boston.-- like we had to with terichard-- from czech--

so have at it everyone--  i would rather get a german pup than an akc one-- since the blue is
recessive-- i don't think the akc has as much a vaRIETY OF BLUE-- AND TOO MANY BREED RELATIVES TO GET THE COLOR.... TEH DEUSCHE DOGGEN ( GERMAN REG)  IS A BIT MORE COMPLETE IN THE HIP EXRAYS ETC...  SO IF YO FIND A NICE BLUE PUP-- PR A BREEDING ABOUT  TO HAPPEN .. LET ME KNOW.

oct 15 2019

OUR ROAD SHOW IS GAINING MOMENTUM-- WELL NOT MOMENTUJM BUT MORE PEOPLE-- NEXT MONDAY 2 TECHS FROM CALIFORNIA, plus  ONE PROFESSOR FROM MICHIGAN ( STUDYING THE PROBLEM) JUDY JANINE AND ME--  PLUS BENTLEY AND SIZZLE WILL BE OUT GO AROUND TO TRY AND SET THIS UP.. WHILE WE RIDE AROUND IN THE CAR, WE CAN DISCUSS WHAT AND WHY- WHICH MEANS I THINK IT WOULD BE HELPFUL TO RENT A VAN FOR  TEH -- AT LEAST 7 PEOPLE AND 2 DOGS. AND MAYBE GET BUD TO DRIVE IT????
GOLDIE IS ON IT - JUDY AND I WENT TO COSTCO TO SIT AND EAT ( WHILE WAITING FOR A DOG TO GET BORED,,,) DARNED IF WE DON'T SIT At a table with an aquaintance of bill cummings.- this whole road show is something which hopefully will attract his financial interest -  there is a huge problem of generic boredom-- how fascinated can you be in puzzles for hours on end..   there are ways we can make this live...
couple  concepts -- having pups "worked" in teh arena on some schedule....  activity directoea can call the office and have some one wave gave a bunch  of inmates gives  a huge boost... and  we could do that on a mass  schedule by just sitting a white board in the corner of the screen with a time on it rhAt we will "respond"  with waving....  --
i hate to tempt fate.... but....
teh fry pan  is  an absolute brilliant concept  for animal interaction... my only accident in 20 years  was a woman who's foot got scratched by a dog toenail- what a fuss "bitten by a great dane"  was the story.. ! so this 10 " fry pan maneuver  keeps teh dogs toenails back 10 inches while their head is pattable and photographableas they eat teh cookie dropped in the pan
there are things like  having no collars or leashes is because in these places sometimes inmates "grab"  -- and or collars can be hooked on wheelchairs-
give me 2 days and i bet i could have a donkey or two nursing home proof.   mary was---  duct tape on her feet  she was loose in the assisted living place to the delight of everyone.  i hae more faith in donkes than horses-- even tho mini horses get the press- they are still horses.  donkeys are more like dogs..  they think-- which can be good or bad.   obedience trained like a dog , teh donkey will become an obedience trained donkey,
been there done that...
back to the road show--- there are 2 varieties of facilities --  walk-ins... and... lock-downs from there the range is   very commercial- keep them  clean-dry- fed-- to the  " at 2:00 there will be a piano player in the atrium"
one has a much bigger budget than the other..- i have not collected  stats on daily cost-- because  this concept is - hopefully a free/ non commercial one.
i have  much paperwork to do.-- i find "companies"  own strings of these- and not all are licensed/ reg with teh state--  at least that i hae found so far..  i keep thinking i have stuck teh master list only to find a place that does not "belong" tehre.
most notably-- today i am going to a  place that says they have adult day care- i know that  address  -- it is a  simple church-- and i don't see where they have  any careing for adults-- no one answers their phone-- you get teh "i am so glad you called..." bit.
i need to figure that one out...  if it doesnt sound like a duck... then it probably is not a duck.
or somethign like that.
****
LOTSA MELATONIN RESPONSES- HERE IS A GOOD ONE..
I have been using melatonin for years. I prefer the sublingual, that is you let it dissolve under your tongue. I buy 2.5 mg tablets and cut them in half. I rarely take a whole one. With the halves I often taken a second half later in the night if I wake and can't get back to sleep. But I have had bad nights where I took a whole one to start and one or two halves later on. My doctor said no more than 10mg per night and I have never needed that much.  I think 5mg at one time is probably overkill. Melatonin is notorious for vivid dreams. Mostly now I don't remember them in great detail. And I have gone days without taking it, so it is not addictive. It's been very helpful overall.

oct 14 2019
  • Last night's tv-- a special on teh zanax  valium crisis..."Benzodiazepines are the second-leading cause of prescription drug overdose deaths after opioids----- " they had actual victums-- who were people who started on the tranquilizers and found they could not get off them- doctors just kept refilling the script. one of teh biggest pitches was-- don't try and just stop without help----- the news article showed people who had formed group-s in hospitals to try and reduce/stop taking them--  it is not a simple matter --- one woman was tryjng to reduce her intake 1%  a day-- and that was extremely difficult.. suicide is happening...
  • this after i  asked my primary care for some advice  for insomnia-- and she suggested melxxxxx whatever as harmless -- over the counter- i mentioned this to judy ( super sunday cook of fattening deserts) and judy told me she tried melxxxxx  once and in the morning her feet were on teh pillow, head over teh end of the bed and no idea how she got that way.  that did not stop me - i figured a fluke--- so i took 5mg last night- and  at midnight i was in a courtroom with a judge - in black robe-  being tried for  espionage -- teh courtroom was divided like you do at weddings with teh brides family on one side and grooms family on the other-- i am happy to announce all my cp friends were on teh left side-- and when asked to sign a statement to the fact that i did not have time to plan any espionage-- every one signed a piece of paper with all different colors of ink..   inspection of my messy car got in it somehow...
  • so whatever that stuff is... it is not trouble free... and over the counter.  if i try it again , i might try breaking it in half  -- maybe  2.5 mg would be helpful./
  • i do feel relatively alert today--
  • but that is like the age old question "do you tell the truth?"   there is only one answer to that question.  i might be so encumbered that i don't know i have gone round the bend...
  • maybe  roadshow judy  ought to drive today.   we  are needing to actually go round to the places we intend to take teh google techs--  tehre is a huge difference between adult day care-- senior centers, ---assisted living --and nursing homes. it is the lock on the door.    day care and nursing homes you are locked in. even visiting those places i have a problem with that... you need a password to get out... and my experiences with passwords is not a successful one.  i can see a fire breaking out and the little button thing saying "  please enter your childhood friends name, and i will  send your password   to  the  governor of  Hawaii"
  • i was all organized with 6 places to take the google bunch-- wheen i began to find out  there were "strings" of ownership[- so to get a variety of places to go, we need to do a bit more investigationg..  there is also a big difference in th prices charged for the day care-- some i would happily move into tomorrowe-- with my 61 danes---   the otheres i have trouble even visiting...  so we need to get a variety.    and get permission to  try this getting explore cameras on the smart tv's that are sitting around  not even turned on.
  • what is also amusing is ont of teh places is sponsored by teh cummings foundation-- from whom we would love to get  sponsorship ourselves...-- and i considered approaching for  "IT  " help---
  •   that is the day in review.
  • ****
Good morning, Carlene.
You are spot on...I didn’t realize just how uncomfortable my upper body was using the forearm crutches until Bellow and I were matched.  With Bellow, I am able to walk more in a natural position vs. the crutches which just helped me walk albeit out of proper alignment.

A heartfelt thank you for your curiosity and drive to problem-solve, bringing your vision of SDP to fruition,

oct 13 2019

well done-- a good night's sleep !!
janine's idea of a donkey blocking the off cameraq area  a worked fine--
outta teh box--- every time.

a good night's sleep is an idea generator-- and today's problem is   teh "UP" factor.

37.3 % of teh hanicap crutch/walker problem is   the "UP"  factor...
and too much bending over to keep your centrer of gravity  where it does not get behind you
will eventually get you into a wheelchair...
to use a crutch, cane, or walker   insists that you  bend forward--
now if...... keeping in mind i have  minus 13% of medical knowledge
and only 12% of  practical engineering background ...
if there is some way of attaching a weight to a cane---...
if you have a 150 pound moveable cane--- which i can not figure out -- unless...
you attach your handle to  either a  dane or the rear end of a 150 pound companion
this would enable you to stand up straight and walk more normally because  of teh "UP" factor

as long as teh dane has a comfortable harness and teh person does not mind an ocasional wedgie
your chances of walking normally is far better than a cane .

ustabe-- long ago  -- megan had a perfect pet  dane and very useful in all manner of things... fido

i think it was fido that enabled us to test if a kid could walk with a dane-
i remember giving a small kid  a $10 bill in one hand-- fido  in the other-
and told her i would meet her at teh  ice cream booth  at the other end of the mall
30 feet behind her, she was followed by 2 very nervous parents
i left for the ice cream booth- ( as you would expect me to do) and she made it.
that was our initial test case- which eventually evolved into bella hunter, eve, fiona and erica..
as i watched them-- and so many others  - i saw the UP factor was not being addressed by the normal medical community.

i am very sorry to say we do not have a fido now....  sizzle and bentley just are not there i am ashamed to say,
maybe megan's old gal might be close-- but very old...    we need a bombproof fido.

so LACKING THAT...... WHERE COULF I POSSIBLE TEST THIS UP FACTOR?
THE MONKEY FIST/BALL ON MY ADULT SWING SET !!

I CERTAINL DO NOT WANT  TO TELL SOME KID TO GO TRY IT- THAT IS WHAT MOMS ARE FOR.

THERE WAS A NICE KIKD HERE LAST NIGHT AND I WANTED TO TALK TO MOM  BUTTHE TIME WAS JUST NOT RIGHT--  SO MOM IF YOU ARE READING THIS--  I KNOW YOU SAID THE BACK POCKET WAS WORKING... HOW ABOUT STANDING WITH THE MONKEY  FIST??
WHO KNOWA WHERE THIS COULD LEAD??? I KNOW Hving ropes  haqnging around here is a big helop to alot of people- but they in themselves do not address the up factor-- now we could modify them by attaching bowling balls to the bottom of tehm-- or more conveniently  bottles of water..

might be hard to explain to visitors- but  we are not trying to impress visitors--
i  gave that up long ago...
i never in my life had anyone stop me and tell me what a well cut lawn--- or spotless kitchen counter i had.
i get untold number of compliments on my dogs
so i gave up lawn cutting and counter wiping
obviously.

OCT 12 2019

TO GET UP THIS MORNING AND HAVE AN EMAIL complaining ABOUT NO ONE CLEANING THE GOATS STALL IS THE STRAW THAT BREAKS  THE CAMELS BACK.
THAT IS THE CLEANEST GOAT STALL IN THE UNIVERSE- THERE IS ABOUT $30 WORTH OF SHAVINGS IN THERE- AND THERE IS NOT ENOUGH MANURE IN TEH MANURE PILE TO MAKE IT GOOD COMPOST   -   LETS PUT IT THIS WAY--- I CAN NOT KEEP IT ANY CLEANER AND IF THAT IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH - I QUIT-

THAT ON TOP OF PHONE CALLS-  JUST BECAUSE THE BABY AND MOM FELL ASLEEP NEXT TO THE BALES AND COULD NOT BE SEEN
I WAS AWAKENED BY 3 PHONE CALLS-  I Have had  ONLY one uninterupted  nights sleep in the past week --- IT  IS AFFECTING MY HEALTH AND MUST STOP-   THANKS TO CALLER ID, I KNOW WHO CALLED..AND GOT  EMAILS  RE  WHO COMPLAINED ABOUT NOT CLEANING THE STALL
JUST BECAUSE WE ALLOWED THE CAMERAS TO HAVE A LIVE VIEWING, DOES NOT GIVE TEH VIEWERS THE OPTION TO ORDER ME, THE OVERNIGHT PEOPLE , OR JANINE  AROUND.

ANY AFTER HOURS TRAFFIC IN TEH BARN CAUSES THE DOGS TO BARK   WHICH ANNOYS TEH NEIGHBORS And the police arrive and insist on telling me in person- so i have to get up and dressed...and go stand in the yard while th e dogs really  bark at the police cruiser.   plus to have the overnight person go check leaves teh puppies unattended...

ANY WELL RUN BARN IS CLOSED AFTER EVENING FEEDING- SHUT AND LEFT TIL MORNING.   OUR ANIMALS ARE AS SAFE AS THEY CAN BE AND THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE TO BE ON  THEIR OWN TIL MORNING..  if watching the camera overnight makes these few people nervous, i will just  shut it off after evening feeding.  what we are doing now is not working.
***
meanwhile   paula and the pups are doing well-- and no one called me last night  to say she is not nursing  or wizzing  them  enough
***
other than that......
DAUGHTER GWEN IS IN THE GUEST HOUSE AND WILL BE AROUND FOR A WEEK OR SO...

oct 11 2019

FINALLY A FULL NIGHT'S  SLEEP-- PAULA DID JUST FINE--
I AM SURE SHE WAS JUST TRYING TO SET UP SOME RULES ABOUT HER FAMILY.
IF YOU DON'T BEHAVE HER WAY , SHE IS PERFECTLY IN HRER RIGHTS TO BITE YOU

THIS IS HOW I HAVE FOUND MOTHERS WILL AGREE TO  NOT BITING..
HAVE A PILE OF NEW LINNENS HANDY----

WHEN SHE HAS TO GO OUT TO PEE.. TEH CREW SHOULD.. QUICKLY
PUT ALL THE PUPS IN TEH CLOTHES BASKET
GRAB ALL THE DIRTY LINNENS' and toss out of her area
SPREAD TEH NEXT PILE OF CLEAN ABOUT 5' SQUARE
MAKIBNG SURE SHE HAS SOFT PLACE TO LIE DOWN ALL AROUND TEH 5' AREA
GET THE PUPS OUT OF THE BASKET
PUT THEM IN THE MIDDLE AND GET OUT OF THE WAY
THIS WILL LET HER CHOOSE WHICH SIDE SHE WANTS TO LIE ON TO NURSE PUPS
ONCE LYING DOWN, IF SHE STARES AT ONE PUP --THEN SLOWLY LIFT THAT PUP WITHIN HER REACH AND LET HER DEAL
SLOWLY LIFT TEH OTHER S TO WHERE SHE CAN DIRECT THEM WITH HER WARM BREATH AND COLD NOSE.  HER CHOICE.
TEHHN DO NOT SIT AROUND MICROMANAGING TEHM-- SHE IS GOOD AT IT--
THIS IS ASSUMING ALL ARE VIGOROUS- ( AND THESE ARE)

DO NOT SIT AROUND AND PAT HER--- SHE MIGHT WANT TO DOSE OFF AND SHE CAN'T WITH PEOPLE DISTURBING HER.

IF WHE WANTS TO GET UP ON THE SOFA- DO NOT TRY AND PUT PUpS WITH HER-- THAT MEAns she is sick of motherhood already and wants a nice nap without pups chewing on her..
her milk bar will fill up a dn she will become uncomfortable and need the pups to nurse  -- mother nature has that all figured out..
***
i find that system works

you have to deal--- one of megans femanles-- will refuse to lie down unless her area  is soft and dry.. literally-- we have tried to cover and hope-- doesn'rt work.. clean and soft or they are all yours to take care ofl.

oct 10 2019

too many days -- too little sleep--so here is a cut and paste

Rizz just celebrated her 2nd birthday on a cruise ship. She is handling the new conditions like a pro and has even learned to use the litter tray to relieve herself....gives all new meaning to “poop deck”. This morning she rode an open tender to go ashore like this was something she does everyday day.

Being a Navy sailor, I have always loved being aboard ship, but this is something I could not do without the help of a service dog, because even with a cane the rocking of the ship would’ve constantly thrown me off balance. I am so appreciative of what Rizz and the SDP community have given me!

I know you and the trainers were concerned with her ability to be around other dogs, but no need to worry. There are dogs everywhere in Quebec and Rizz was so focused on keeping me up right, walking on the cobblestone streets, that a box car of barking beagles could’ve passed us and she wouldn’t have noticed! ( she is always good around other dogs anyway). The picture below is Rizz taking me up the L’Escalier du Casse-Cou, which translates into English as the “break neck stairs”.... fortunately, because of Rizz, no necks were broken in the taking of this picture.

I met a lady from Florida on another cruise ship, that said she was affiliated with ADI. She asked me where I got Rizz from and I told her from SDP. She said that Rizz was a real testament to the quality of the training facility- Of course I already knew that!

Thank you for the gift of being able to live my life to its fullest!      Heidi

Nowadays, it seems like anything is rude if it contradicts what someone wants to hear.

OCT 8 2019

SOOO MANY CHORES-- SOOO MUCH MILK--- PAULA IS BUSTING OUT ALL OVER--  DRIPPING  HEAVY  CREAM...BABY GOAT GETTING BIGGER BY THE MINUTE ON GOOD FRESH GOATS MILK !!

PAULA-- ONE OF TEH PUPS WE IMPORTED FROM GERMANY IS "GREAT WITH CHILD-- OR AT LEAST MILK...  SHE DOESW NOT LOOK LIKE SHE WIL LHAVE 13 PUPS  BUT SHE LOOKS LIKE SHE COUD FEED THAT MANY...

WHICH BRINGS TO MIND THE  VIDEO I SAW ABOTU THE FOODSAVER "AIR VACUUM PUMP" FROM WALMART THAT SOMEONE CONVERTED TO A GOAT MILKER-- IF I HAD ALREADY DONE THAT, WE M IGHT BE ABLE TO SAVE SOME OF PAULA'S EXCESS  RIGHT AFTER SHE HAS PUPS  IN ORDER  TO HAVE A FROZEN SUPPLY OF  TEH COLOSTRIEUM SO CRITICAL TO NEWBORN PUPS.-

SHE IS PAWING-- AND SLEEPONG OPN THE SOFA IN THE LIVING ROOM..  I WILL MOVE TEH CAMERA TO THAT AREA- SO EVERYONE CAN GET TO THE PHASE OF ANALYZING EVERY PHART.  WHAT I LOOK FOR IS FOR HER TO GRAB TEH BLANKET SHE IS SITTING ON  And try and tear it upwards- with great effort-- usually shreading the blankey--  that is acceptable  -- blanket shreading  IS OK... bUt when that happend we really must be in aTTENDENCE. THAT STARTS LABOR -- IN MY BOOK
****
NOW ABOUT CAMERA COMMENTS--- I HAVE NO PROBLEM WHEN PEIOPLE MAKE SUGGESTIONS--OFTEN ABOTU THINGS THEY DO NOT UNDERSTAND- AND I TRY AND EXPLAIN WHY-- OR MAKE CHANGES AS NECESSARY-  WHAT I DO NOT LIKE ARE THE COMMENTS WHICH TELL ME WHAT TO DO- THEN CALL ME AN IRRESPONSIBLE IDIOT FOR NOT DOINGT SOMETHING THEIR WAY.  TEHRE ARE SOOOO MANY DETAILS YOU CAN NOT POSSIBLY KNOW- THAT OFTEN TEH SUGGESTIONS ARE FAR OFF ANY MARK I EVER KNEW.
AND--- THERE COMES A POINT WHEN MOMMY NATURE HAS TO CONTRUBUTE SOME EFFORT-- LIKE SHE HAS FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS... LIKE GETTING THAT BRAND NEW BABY DONKEY 200 FEET  TRU THE 8 INCHES OF SNOW- JUST HOURS OLD - SOAKING WET-  PERSONALLY I COULD NOT DO THAT  TRIP MYSELF... I HAD TO LET IT HAPPEN-- IT WAS IMPRESSIVE.

BUT NOW  WITH PREGO  PAULA --- I HAVE EMAILS ABOUT  CHOOSING THE NAMES-  WHAT I SHOUDL HAVE DONE AND DID NOT DO....   HOW WRONG IT WAS FOR ME TO  PURCHASED HER FROM  BREEDER "A" AND NOT BREEDER "B"

SOME DAYS I WOULD LOVE TO  COPY AND PASTE SOME OF TEH EMAILS- EXCEPT IF I DID  I WOULD BE CALLED RUDE AND IGNORANT-- (BOTH OF WHICH I AM  VERY CAPABLE OF BEING...) EVEN TODAY I EXPLAINED THAT ANY KID GETTING A DOG FROM US HAD TO BE ABLE TO TAKE CARE OF IT THEMSELVES-- OR THERE WOULD BE A BONDING ISSUE-    ? THAT WAS RUDE?  I COULD DO BETTER THAN THAT.
***
TEH OWNER OF THAT HUGE RV IS GONG TO GET PRESSED INTO SERVICE GTODAY---  WE NEED A BOX/PEDISTAL/SOMETHIGN FOR THAT BABY GOAT TO PRACTICE JUMPING ON...
AND EH GE ENGINEERS COMING FRIDAY CAN MOVE THE FRONT OF THAT BUILDING-- SOMEHOW...
**
I WIL SIT AROUND AND WATCH..  I AM GOOD AT THAT.
 ***
WE CONTINUE TO WORK ON SOUND AS BEST WE CAN-- SOMEHOW WE WILL GET THERE...TEH FACT THAT SOME CAN HEAR PERFECTLY WELL AND OTHERS CAN'T... SEEMS TO ME IT IS NOT A PROBLEM AT THIS END...
**
REMINDING ME TO CHANGE TEH BATTERIES IN MY HEARING AID????
***
Kinda interesting I was speaking to Jan Rizzo and she said that on her laptop (Windows) she could not hear a thing when the mic was turned off but on her IPAD (apple) she heard the whole conversation when mic was off. Don't understand the reason for the difference and I heard nothing on my PC (Windows). I kept thinking that everyone was nuts LOL but it must be an apple issue

AND THANKS TO ALL FOR ANOTEHR SELL OUT !! ANOTHER PAYROLL MET !
***

new york city has it's sidewalk superintendents--- and SDP has some similar commenters.... take one bit of semi information and fly with it...most of which is unbelieveable... like.......i usually give horses any shots in their neck--- a big muscle thing where aim is not too critical-  but also because there is a  nerve somewhere in the back leg that i know i must avoid--- so as i sat there with bryan, i asked him to line up that nerve for my future reference... and he did---that caused someone to  lecture me on how ignorant i am- well i know that .. that is why i give most shots in the neck..----." here is a bit of my knowledge so you CAN impress bryaN" -  I HAVE KNOWN BRYAN TOO LONG FOR HIM TO BE IMPRESSED WITH MUCH OF ANYTHING I MUTTER.-
--- TEHN TEHRE IS  BIG LETTERS  "CARLENE THREW LEE OUT OF THE BARN"  - WRONG--- CARLENE  SAW A DISASTER IN THE MAKING AND THREW EVERYONE OUT OF THE BARN-- I WAS NOT PICKING ON LEE... SHE IS A NICE PERSON....THERE WERE TOO MANY PEOPLE TO KEEP TRACK OF... BUT THERE ARE THOSE WHO LOVE TO  FLY WITH ANY NEGATIVE THEY CSN DREAM UP... IN THE DOG WORLD THEY WOUDL BE CALLED "AGRESSIVE  AND BITERS" ---  I HAVE NO USE FOR DOGS OR PEOPLE WHO BITE.
***
TV-----BETWEEN GERMANY, SWITZERLAND AND ARRIZONA, THERE ARE APPARENTLY ALOT OF UNDERGROUND   MAN MADE TUNNELS- THERE WAS A WHOLE SHOW ON TEHM LAST NIGHT- ARIZONA HAD AN ADDITONAL FILM OF A HUGE SECURITY CONVOY CARRYING A FLYING SAUCER LIKE THING AROUND AT MIDNIGHT.--  TEH USUAL MYSTERY OF THE UNKNOWN - AND AREA 51??
I DON'T WANT TO TEMPT FATE, BUT I HAE NOT SEEN A FLYING SAUCER YET.
MAYBE TODAY--
***
IN THE MEANTIME   TEHRE ARE 10 PEOPLE COMING HERER THIS MORNING FROM TEH CORPORATE WORLD TO VOLUNTEER-
WE CERTAIONLY CAN USE HELP[-- BUT IF THEY ALL THINK TEHY ARE COMING HERE TO  HELP "TRAIN DOGS"-- IT IS NOT LIKE THAT-- I AM USUALLY HARD PRESED TO FIGURE OUT SOMETHING FOR  10 PEOPLE TO DO ... WHO ARE  NOT FROM A FARM ENVIRONMENT-
IT WAS  JUST SUCH A SPURR OF THE MOMENT  WHICH INSPIED ME TO GET 15  OFFICE PEOPLE TO SIT  ON TEH GROUND AND DIG POST HOLES WHICH BECAME TEH DONKEY CAFE.

THE MINUTE YOU SAY POST HOLES-- THERE IS A GROUP WHO WANT TO GO FIND A POST HOLE DIGGER... I OWN SEVERAL---WHICH IN NEW ENGALND IS ONE OF THE MORE USELESS PIECES OF EQUIPMENT-- A  SCREW DRIVER AND A SOUP SPOON WORK SO MUCH BETTER.   THOSE "POST HOLE DIGGERS"  SO OFTEN  PINCH A PEBBLE AND ALLOW ALL THE SOIL TO FALL THRU- WASTING ALOT OF ENEERGY TO PINCH THAT PEBBLE.MAYBE IN SANDY ARIZONA THEY MIGHT WORK-- BUT NEW ENGLAND IS FULL OF ROCKS AND PEBBLES FAR BEYOND TEH POST HOLE DIGGER'S CAPABILITIES.
THE ONLY THING EASIER IS  TEH TRACTOR'S BACK HOE-- WHICH MAKES A HUGE HOLE- AND UNLESS YOU HAVE BAGS OF CONCRETE AND ROCKS TO PUT BACK IN THAT HOLE- THE POST IS NOT AS STEADY AS TEH SOUP SPOON WHICH ALLOWS YOU TO SHAPE TEH HOLE  CLOSER TO THE SIZE OF THE POST.
***
SO MY 10 PEOPLE AT 9 AM....  -- THERE IS A FENCE/ TREE  DOWN??? .  I REAQLLY NEED TO  SPREAD FERTALIZER AND LIME BUT I NEED TO GET THAT  THING ON THE TRACTOR ( NOT BEEN DONE YST.)
**
ON CAMERA YOU WILL SEE THE WORKDS BIGGEST RV-- SOMEONE COMING TO VISIT ASKED IF THE COUD PARK THEIR RV HERE FOR 3 DAYS AND I SAID SURE-- I DIDN'T KNOW THEY MADE THEM THIS BIG-- AND AFTER LANDING IN IN FRONT O F THE ICU,,, THE BUBBLES ON TEH SIDE STUCK OUT ANOTHER  3 FEET ON EITHER SIDE. ' AND IT "SETTLED DOWN??"  SO IT IS ABOUT 4 INCHES FROM TEH GROUND--- I HOPE IT LIFTS ITSELF UP AGAIN OR IT WILL NEVER GET FROM OUR DRIVEWAY ONTO THE STREET. NICE PEOPLE-- FROM TENNNASEE . THEY CAME PREPARED-- TOWING A JEEP TOO.
ALL OUR VOLUNTEERS ARE MENTALLY LINED UP -- HOPING FOR A TOUR

CAN ANYONE COME UP WITH A  GOOD NAME FOR THE SDP BOOK???

OCT 6 2019

as teh british would say..." we'll have a walk-about  today-----with the donkeys "  most of our donkeys are due to leave in a trailer load to that lovely big farm in topsfield where they will have a party- and probably be back around noon... i may be involved  becaus0e janine already moved our lovely wooden cart to the farm  with hopes of "hooking" pockets- and tho janinde=e has hooked 1000 of my mini donkeys in teh hitch... she has never hooked to a cart.... and it is slightly different---
for those of you  intent on increasing your knowdge........ with a 2 wheeled cart, it is possible for the driver to lean back and  tip the cart backwards..... unless yo have a "cart strap" running under teh belly of teh pulling device ( pockets)  it can be a simple piece of rope-- or hay string-- but  otherwise those shafts can lift skyward and the driver will land on hs/her back,
there is one other thing she must have-- and 4 of my 8 had it--  that is a breeching stap-- big wide comfortable strap which goes behind the rear of a horse/pockets -- this keeps teh cart from running into the rear end of teh animal-- whch coudl be scary and cause a run away..  the way that breeching strap is attached to the shaft can be a little tricky  -- a figure 8 that will tighten if tense...  janine is not familiar with that-  with the 8 hitch, the force was transferred to the front of the 2 rear donkeys with various straps that delivered teh force to their rear ends...
teh harness for a working animal is really very specific-- and as comfortable as possible for the worker.

my 8 donkeys in the "hitch"  were very forgiving- if they were horses i would not have survived.... the most spectacular was teh day i was to pick up the bride and groom from a reception-- ( THIS WAS A VERY FANCY DEAL)  aND FRIEND ANN GETCHELL H elped me hitch them a block or so away-  the donks followed teh police cruiser to the driveway,, and turned in very politely and stopped at the "party"   at which point another  horse friend said  "do you realize you forgot to attach the reins TO THE LEADERS ???..."
GOTTA LOVE DONKEYS...
****
NOW ABOTU TEH  BABY GOAT== A WHOLE NEW BALL GAME FOR ME--
MOSTLY WHAT I KNOW OF GOATS I LEARNED FROM DR PAL ON ? TEH ANIMAL PLANNET??  BUT I KNOW I HAVE SEEN BABY GOATS RUN ALL OVER FARTHER AWAY FROM MOM THAN MOST HORSE BABIES... AND TEHN MOM'S MILK BAG GETS FULL AND SHE STARTS LOOKING FOR THE BABY TO NURSE... IS HOW THAT SEEMS TO WORK..

I KNOW EVERY ONE IS WORRIED ABOTU THIS BABY-- AND -- THANKS TO TEH CHICKEN BRICK DEPARTMENT-- YOU (CP'S) HAVE ALL "CHIPPED IN" FOR A FUN FUND HOUSE CALL FROM  DR BRYAN-- SO  I WILL CONTACT HIM WHEN I POST THIS.. BEING SUNDAY IT IS AN EMERGENCY CALL FEE WHICH IS SIGNIFICANT-- BUT BLESS THOSE CHICKEN BRICKS-- IF YOU WANT IT  I WILL CONTACT HIM... SOMETIEMS HE IS FULL OF EMERGENCIES ON A SUNDAY ( LIFE IS LIKE THAT)  AND MIGHT HAVE TO  GIVE US A FREEBEE CONSULT  ON CAMERA- BUT I WILL TRY..

THE OTHER  THING I HAVE LEARNED ABOUT GOATS, IS THEY CAN LIVE VERY WELL ON VERY LITTLE-- PROBLEM THERE BEING IF EVERYONE COMING TO CRAZY ACRES GIVES THE MOM A HANDFULL OF SWEET FEED ( OATS ETC)  SHE WILL DIE OF BEING OVER FED... SO I HAD TO SAY NO ONE FEED HER.

SHE IS SURROUNDED BY GOOD HAY- WHICH IS PROBABLY ALL SHE NEEDS ANYWAY--  THE ALPHAFA  GOAT TREATS SITTING THERE CAN JUST BE TROUBLE... SO JANINE AND I SHOULD  BE TEH ONLY ONES TO FEED ANYTHING BUT TEH HAY AND WATER..
***
AND IT IS SHATTING DAY-- THANKFULLY WE ARE SOLD OUT ONCE AGAIN..  87 PEOPLE-- BY ACTUAL COUNT.. BAILED US OUT YESTERDAY--  87  !!  THAT IS ALOT  FOR ONE DAY-- I THINK THE BABY GOAT HELPED-- BUT WE ARE ON THE BONUS PURPLE EGG SECTION NOW... AND SHATTING WILL TAKE PLACE AT 3:00 THIS AFTERNOON- WE MAY HAE A NEW MEMBER OF
TEH
"SHATUPON SOCIETY OF IPSWICH "

OCT 5 2019
NEW KID ON TEH BLOCK--WE DID HAve a new  baby goat lst night--hopefully just now   i have shifted teh fencing around so it will be on camera more... by fencing off where it is off camera...  this puts teh donkeys out for a while- please do not send me emails about "TEHR POOR DONKEYS OUT IN THE COLD"  THEY ARE NOT POOR, IT IS NOT COLD, AND TEHER IS SHELTER AVAILABLE TO THEM IN BOTH THE DONK CAFE AND TEH 12 X 12 STALL YOU CAN NOT SEE TEH OTHER SIDE OF TEH GOAT STALL-- PLUS IN TEH WILD, THEY WOULD BACK UP TO A FAT TREE AND LET THE TREE CUT THE DRAFT. BESIDES THESE DONKEYS ARE NOW  FAT ... SO THEY HAVE THAT LAYER  TO CONSIDER ALSO.....
TO DEAL WITH TEH REST OF TEH COMPLAINTS..... WE HAVE NOT RESOLVED TEH SOUND IN TEH GOAT AREA... AND ARE WORKIN GON IT...- S FOR TEH HOUSE SOUND-- THAT LOVELY MIC - WITH IT'S ON OFF SWITCH- IS DIRECTIONAL AND WE WILL DEAL AS WE MOVE ON.,.. BUT  REMEMBER THE DAYSW WHEN WE HAD NO SOUND????

ALOT GOING ON... SO SHORT DOGGIE-- ALSO LATE DOGGIE

PS.. PICTURES OF  DR. BRYAN LAST NIGHT.... YOU REQALIZE HE HAD HIS LEG IN A CAST WHILEE TRYING TO DELIVER TEH"  KID"

oct 4 2019

the idderod winner was disqualified after one of his dogs died of aspiration pnemounia just  2 days after the race .. in spite of being flown to ankorage.  this is teh  same result we have so far on lilly's autopsy.  they did offer to send teh culture and sensativity to cornell to look for a specific details- which will take a few days... i did ok  the cost --- about $500--- and we should get an email result in a few days. the tufts vet said no sign of "dog flu" or such. a huge relief--

i was not happy with september of 2019..  if it had been some strange dog flu  we would have had to go thru all sorts of quarentine and publicity  right in the middle of dogfest and ADI inspection.. with growing puppies  confined  while trying to be teenagers in the kitchen instead of on puppy hill.

so far   october   2019 is looking better.
i am going to try and learn one new thing a day--- yesterday i learned  how to turn up the lights on my car's dashboard lights so i may not get so close to running out of gas because i can not see the dials  !!  very exciting-- tomorrow i may try the windshield wipers.
my sequoia-- lovely car-- perfect for sdp between towing that very heavy dump trailer-- plowing snow- and being loaded with  bags of concrete it leads a tough life... but exceedingly useful and forgiving.
when i bought it, and tried to drive it home,  the tires on it were teh kind which have darn little tread even when brand new--- so i changed tehm the first week i owned them -- to knobby mud/snow tires-- teh 4 smooth ones are in the garage still - ? could be great dane chew toys???
***
brilliant idea for teh day--
1. we-- or at least  "i" -- am trained to think anything that goes thru the dishwasher must be clean..
2.  the reason i don't so readily  reuse plastic bottles in general is  they are difficult to clean with soap and water.
3.  if  dishwashers were required to have one slot where you couold  invert some of these  plastic bottles ( of all kinds)  to get soaped and rinsed like bartenders do...  there a an infinite number of things tehy could be used for--- like more water.... or fill with sand for a  bowling ball yard game...
**
since the pupps are being run back and  forth to puppyhill and barn,,,, i am asking evryone to park outside the gate--- teh driveway is wide einogh to have handcapp parking on one side-- everyone else into t he oparking pit.   th eproblem being as cars come in -- they have burning hot mufflers underneath-- and with pups runnign all over , i am afraid one will dart under a newly parked car and get hurt...-  anyone moving pups will then have o0nly to check with me to see whan i last used my car.- which is not often.  if the hood is cold the muffler is. otherwise we get into a situation "anybody know who's black car that is in the handicap parking spot..? could tak an hour to figure that out... and inhiibt moving pups as too much trouble.

Hi SDP:

I have been away from the cameras most of the summer busy working at my job, tending to my yard and house and spending time with my mom who has been in a nursing facility with Alzheimer's for the past few years. She recently passed. I am grieving and finding little joy in much of anything right now, EXCEPT watching the beautiful new Dane pups! What a good looking litter and what a joy it is to watch them. I actually find myself laughing out loud. The cameras are wonderful! Thank you. I still hope to make the 2 hr or so drive up to your farm for a visit on open house day, assuming you still hold it. I counted 11 pups and thought there's 11 potential people with mobility issues who will be helped one day in the future. I must say the pups with the light and dark shades of grey, and black, against the white canvas are absolutely stunning! Truly a work of art! MaryAnn  RI

oct 3 2019
THESE PUPS ARE ALL OF A SUDDEN BIG DOGS-- THEY HAD A PLAYTIME ON PUPPY HILL YESTRDAY-- AND TEHN POLITELY CRUMPED OUT IN KENNEL 10- THEN NEARLY MADE IT THRU THE NIGHT  SLEEPING...  EXERCISE IS A GOOD THING.
MEGAN SAID SHE WOULD BE SPLITTING THEM UP SOON  -- ELEVEN ALL AT ONCE DO NOT BEHAVE AS TEHY SHOULD....THESE TEENAGE DOGS ARE  VERY LIKE TEENAGE CHILDREN-- THEY  HAVE NOT YET  LEARNED TO GET ALONG WITH  EACH OTHER AND THE WORLD...
***
OH.... PAULA IS DUE TO AQRRIVE HERE SOON IN PREP FOR WHELPING....
**
WE DO HAVE AREAS TO COPE--- ONE IS KENNEL 10 - THE OTHERE IS IN TEH NUTT HOUSE- WHERE THE "RAISED LOFT" IS ONLY 6 INCHES HIGH- AND THE DOOR IS AWAY FROM WHERE ANYPUP WOULD WANT TO SIT ( AND KEEP OTHERS OUT) -

I WISH I HAD  TALKED TO THAT ADI PERSON ABOUT THE NEW KENNEL THEY ARE THINKING OF BUILDING...  WE HAVE SO MUCH OF TEH PHYSICAL "PLANT" THAT IS PERFECT, BY ACCIDENT--- I AM SURE... SINCE IT WAS DONE ON A FUNDS AVAILABLE BASIS- NO TWO KENNELS AR E  ALIKE...  WHICH - AS IT TURNS OUT... IS A BENIFIT TO THE PUPS WHEN LEARNING... THNGS LIKE STAIRS AND RAMPS
IN KENNEL 10- THEY MUST LEARN TO COME THRU THE DOOR AND PUSH TEH FLAP ASIDE-- THEN THERE ARE 2 STEPS UP TO THE 2 STAGE SLEEPING AREA-- WITH NOT MUCH FLOOR SPACE AT ALL-- IF YOU ARE NOT IN BED, YOU GO OUTSIDE VERY QUICKLY...-- THERE IS A NATURAL INSTINCT TO GET AWAY FROM TEH SLEEPING AREA TO PEE. --KENNEL  9 IS A M UCH LONGER RAMP WITH FENCED SIDES- TO A HIGHER MUCH BIGGER LOFT.  9 ALSO HAS MUCH MORE ROOM FOR THEM TO  MAKE AN ERROR IN THE PEE DEPARTMENT-
FOR A VERY LONG TIME I THOUGHT WE HAD A LEAK IN THE ROOF-- BIG PUDDLE BY THE DOOR WHEN IT RAINED-- TOOK A WHILE TO NOTICE THE PUDDLE WAS YELLOW- AND THE PROBLEM WAS THAT KENNEL DID NOT HAVE A RAIN DEFLECTOR - SO THE DOGS WERE GETTING HIT INTHE HEAD BY THE RAIN OFF THE ROOF. SO THEY JUST PEE'D  INSIDE....
**
WE DO HAV E A KENNEL WITH A LONGER/ LOWER SLOPE TOTHE RAMP FOR GERACTRIC PATIENTS-- THEN SOME WITH RAMPS AND 2 STEPS---- AND TEH REALLY CHALLANGING 5 STEPS-   THEN ONES WHICH WOUDL ACCOMODATE 2 DOGS-- WITH AN EMERGENCY LOWER SLEEPING AREA IN CASE ONE GETS DOMINANT ON A COLD NIGHT.-- TEH DETAILS ARE OVERWHELMING.
***
THAT GUIDING EYES PROGRAM HAS MILLIONS IN TEH BANK...  IF I HAD A SAY , I WOULD BUY A FAARM OR TWO "UP STATE"  NEWBURGH/ GOSHEN WAY  -- FOR PUPPY PREP, GET AWAY FROM PUPPY RAISERS, THEN SHIP THE PUPS TO LONG ISLAND CAMPUS  FOR THEIR FINAL TRAINING AND PLACEMENT. -- LONG ISLAND IS SUCH A HIGH RENT DISTRICT-
**
MAYBE I SHOULD CONCENTRATE ON RUNNING OUR OWN PROGRAM...
***
I DID END UP WITH 3 PEOPLE WHO DONATED  $300 FOR THE MONTH  --- APPARENTLY ONE OF THEM WAS TEH ONE WHO OFFERED ME TEH $10 PER DAY TO WEAR TEH HAT.. AWKWARD BECAUSE -- NOW---SOME ONE (?WHO?) SENT ME AN OCTOBER HAT-- AND IF THERE ARE  3 PEOPLE W HO WILL PAY ME $10 A DAY TO WEAR IFT ATT MAIL CALL..... YOU ARE ON !!
***
WE DO HAVE SOME THINKING TO DO ON THIS ADULT CARE (AKA  ROADSHOW 2.0) - LAST TIME JUDY AND I WERE AT  ONE, I CALLED AND ASKED SOMEONE TO GET IN WITH THE PUPPIES AND WAVE TO TEH PEOPLE...  THERE IS A 2 MINUTE DELAQTY- SO I HAD A CHANCE TO TALK IT UP AND GET THEM TO WAVE AT THE CAMERA-  WHICH THRILLED TEHM  WHEN TEH CAMERA WAVED BACK !!
SUCH A SIMPLE THING...TEHY SMILED AND WAVED  BACK FOR TEH NEXT HOUR !!

MADE ME REALIZE---  WE COULD PUT  "MARKERS" ON CAMERA indicating that in 2 minutes one of teh staff at sdp would get in with teh puppies and wave to the cameras--- this would give the activities  directors time to get everyone primed to feel special !!-
these people are hard pressed  for entertainment..
**
there must be other ways...   i hate to see those black screens of teh smart tv's-  when at least tehy coud be  aquarium like fish without the water to drain and keep clean.

oct 2 2019
on to the next 82 years--
i did walk on my stilts yesterday and wanted to get a picture of janine and i on them but by the time she got heree i was in bed.. so we might try today-
apparently megan has a video to prove my birthday walk....
kind of typically for an age thing........ getting up on them was a bit frightening.. but once up there, i was quite comfortable-- and walking on them was no worse than walking without them≥
***
maybe some people dream of sandy beaches, last night i dreamed i had an antique john deere tractor stuck in my basement-- which tells you teh condition of my basement... well at least berfore  whirlwwind judy cleaned it out.
***
teh big annnouncement i promised on october2nd-- was  medicare has recognized service dogs- thanks to staci and merle... it is a start-- a breakthru-- they are not willing to pay for the service dog-- but some upkeep--  a start is a big one. !
*
'Upon qualification, this Medicare Advantage Plan will cover up to $500 annually to help pay for items, such as food, bedding, leashes and vests, etc.
*
i will  cut and paste her complete explaination
**
i certainly had a bunch of birthday wishes- for which i am thankful--
***
i also have made a  new /old --- edict -- we tried to get the pups to the v pen yesterday and they were wild... literally...   we need a bit more constructive learning time in the kitchen to get them focused.
i am afraid all teh september things--- from dog fest to adi to kennel cough-- they are wofully behind in thier spoon training.
we need more megan/devin in teh kitchen for a  10 minute session  couple times a day  to get the focus.
also i think more time could be spent in teh arena to get the pups more ready for teh advanced training-- so there might be more camera tiem there too.
those pups were wild....  happy-- thrilled to be loose-- but wild-- like they never knew what a can of food -- or a spoon was !!
**
gotta work on that more--- starting today

Hi Mrs. White,

I wanted to reach out and wish you a happy birthday. I also wanted to let you know the impact that Eeyore has had on my life. I work 3 jobs and it's really hard financially right now for me however he is the best thing in my life. He makes me so happy. I have never had a dog that was my dog. I didn't understand the mental health impact that Eeyore could have. I truly believe he keeps me going and keeps my spirits up. I know that might sound crazy but he is like my kid. We have the best time, Today I was talking to him about how you can't buy good taste, because he just wants to say hi to everyone on our walks but some people think he's to big and he doesn't understand why they don't want to say hi him!
I have to tell him that those people have no taste and reassure him that he is the best dog in the world. Which is is.

I will be back on the farm this winter/ sprint to help out with the shoveling and laundry. I am sorry I have not been around this fall, I am swamped.

With love,

Brooke Stewart and The Big E

Hi Carlene

First- I hope you had a wonderful birthday !
Second - as it is October first I can give you more information on what we talked about recently, but first same background information on Medicare in case you needed clarification on options.

Original Medicare includes Medicare Parts A and B.
Medicare Part A covers hospital costs.
Medicare Part B covers doctors' fees and outpatient services and has a monthly premium.
Since Original Medicare has costs likes deductibles and coinsurance, there are plans that help cover those charges that can be purchased called Medigap policies. Medigap plans have requirements on when you can purchase them. Additionally to get coverage for prescription drugs, one would have to purchase a Medicare Part D plan (administered by a private health insurance company).

There is another option that one-third of the current 60 million Medicare beneficiaries choose, in which they forgo original Medicare and the Medigap options and instead elect a private Medicare Advantage plan, also known as Medicare C. Medicare Beneficiaries can only enroll in this type of plan at certain times of the year, like the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) which starts on 10/15/2019 for plans starting in 2020.
For those that select a private Medicare Advantage plan they get all the benefits covered under original Medicare, most have a Part D Prescription Drug benefit and cover additional supplemental benefits that are not otherwise covered These supplemental benefits are only available through these types of plans.
Over the years the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has allowed these Private Medicare Advantage Plans to offer different types of otherwise non-covered Medicare benefits like routine eyeglasses, hearing aids and dental care. Most recently they have allowed even more benefits like personal home helpers, over the counter medications and acupuncture.  2020 will allow even more of these benefits and one that Merle and I are honored to be part of....

The Service Dog Support Benefit is a new Benefit that is being offered by one of those Private Medicare Advantage Plans in 2020.   This benefit is designed for the Medicare Beneficiary who selects this particular plan and has a Service Dog (as per the ADA definition) for a chronic illness. Upon qualification, this Medicare Advantage Plan will cover up to $500 annually to help pay for items, such as food, bedding, leashes and vests, etc.
As these Private Medicare Advantage Plans are offered by different companies not all will have the same benefits or this particular benefit.  It depends on where you live and if you select that plan.

There are many articles on the internet about each type of plan.  Medicare.gov has information as well which includes a plan finder to help one find the right plan for them.  Additionally Medicare Beneficiaries should contact a licensed sales agents that can help them pick the right plan.

This is the first time Medicare has allowed a benefit for Service Dogs and while it will not cover the dog, training or Vet bills it is a start in the right direction and following the coverage the VA has.

Thank you for all you do for SDP recipients.
