JAN 17 2020
thank heavens for cut and pastes !!!
because.....tv this early morning only told of war in ancient Greece where mothers bathed their boy children ln
wine  to toughen them to be sent--- by order of some  old guy--- to war training at 7 years old and near certain death before 18..
whoa one minute-- does anyone else notice that leaves the old guy home with all the females who are producing all these boy  children which he is getting rid of thanks to some bickering with a neighbor.. i think this was long before artificial insemination of pre frozen sperm.
the more things change, the more they stay the same.
which reminds me of some movie  where some  very pregnant woman  surrounded by her 13 children  bent over a wash tub washing diapers ----told a passerby "they all have the same father in heaven"  obviously before DNA
testing.
i better quit before i get into religion.
-----
two absolutely perfect service dogs have left here lately--- and altho megan and crew of trainers  certanly desearve a lot of credit,  they really head up a team effort including  the 2 barn managerrs- haley and shanna
who get the dogs out exercised for a while before they "go out on a training run"-- and then there are the volunteers who keep the dogs sweet smelling by lugging piles of laundry between buildings as we cope wioth  a broken washing machine in one building and an ornery dryer in another...
there is nothing to demonstrate the teamwork better than the alarm---- "THE FOOD IS HERE" ....
everything stops and all hands on deck to unload and store teh 8 pallets of dry dog food in the shipping container... our SDP  bunch can stack and store a pallet in one minute 28 seconds... by actual stop watch..
most amusing was devin--- one of teh LITTLE WOMEN=== in her hollywood debut ---grab a 37 pound bag turn and toss as fast as the eye can see.which brings everyone back to the concept== it takes the whole team or the dogs would be minus teh very basics---

Hi Carlene!

I apologize that it has taken so long for me to write to you with an update on Hoodsie and I.  We have been VERY busy since we got back home from SDP.  Hoodsie came home with me to my husband, my daughter and her Labrador retriever, my daughter’s girlfriend and our 2 cats.  He took it all in stride and demonstrated good manners and a healthy respect with the cats right from the beginning.

Hoodsie loves to work and does a little happy dance and smile when I take out his vest and get him dressed.  He has been very patient with me as I bumble around with doorways and some stairs.  He has shown me that he is very capable of tackling any staircases and odd door configurations.  I was pleasantly surprised at how Hoodsie matches my pace whether it be in the city (NYC) and we are walking quickly, or on one of my slower, more deliberate days.  We have been in the city 5 times already and Hoodsie has become accustomed to the constant background noise, the lights, fire trucks, police cars, ambulance sirens, dog walkers with multiple dogs and crowds of people.  He has become a champion at making himself small in restaurants, cafes and coffee houses in the city, such that people are surprised to see him when we stand up to leave.  He is a pro at the elevators in various office buildings and I still chuckle when we are in an elevator, the doors open on another floor and people look in to see Hoodsie looking out at them.  I also get a good laugh when we are in the city and young children point and say “cow”…

Hoodsie is the sweetest boy and has a wonderful sense of humor.  He loves socializing with people and animals when he is not working and he brings smiles to so many faces.

I thank you and the entire SDP team from the depths of my heart for Hoodsie.  He has already changed my life in ways I could not previously imagine, and I look forward to the future with Hoodsie at my side.

All the best,

Janet

Dear Family,
Just wanted to tell you how good you were to me a good loving home until you found my forever Mom and Dad.
I just jumped into my carriage to take a ride to things all new, but I’m not worried because I know my Mom and Dad will love me and take great loving care of me.
I’m so excited to have my first adventure and my parents tell me we will have many!
My Mama needs lots of help but I told her not to worry because I’m here to help her forever and forever.
I think I’m liking my Dad who I’ve just met and I gave him a big kiss because he wants to help my Mama too!
I think we 3 are gonna make a great family and team.
I’m leaving you but will never forget you.
All my love,
Lady Ribble

I CAN NOT TELL YOU HOW MANY EMAILS I GET JUST ABOUT WORD FOR WORD

I discovered your website and mission from someone on a Great Dane Facebook group. I think the work that you do is phenomenal!!
My husband has balance and mobility issues related to MS. He’s 6’3 and 195lbs and I imagine that a Great Dane service dog trained for mobility and balance would do wonders for him. I read the requirements and as we’re in California, I understand that he’s not a candidate for your program because of the distance. My question is, do you know if anyone doing this same work on the West Coast?
Thanks immensely for any information that you can provide!
Sincerely,

THIS CAMERA/DAILY DOGGIE READING CROWD IS A BIG GROUP--- IS THERE NO ONE OUT THERE WHO CAN FIND A KINDRED SOUL TO START TRAINING DANES ON THE WEST COAST-- OR MAYBE EVEN KANSAS????  I WILL DO ALL I CAN TO GET PEOPLE GOING--  YOU WOUOLD BE DOING TERH DOGS A  FAVOR  BECAUSE PROPERLUY TRAINED DANES ABSOLUTELY LOVE BEING WITH THIER PARTNERS 24 HOURS A DAY.
WE HAD A DOG LEAVE YESTERDAY-- ANOTHER OF MEGAN++++++SDP'S  MARVELS .. EVERYBODY CRYING  HAPPY TEARS- DOG THRILLED TO HAVE A PERSON.. SO THRILLED THAT SHE FOLLOWS HER INTO THE SHOWER-- NOW THAT IS WHAT WE QARE LOOKING FOR.

SO WHY AREN'T THERE MORE DANE TRAINERS...  I WOULD BE THRILLED TO HAVE  ANYONE WHO HAS ALREADY TRAINED A WELL TRAINED DOG... COME HERE AND LEARN WHAT WE DO WITH DANES.... IT AIN'T THE SAME AS GOLDEN RETRIEVER TRAININGS.. THERE MUST BE 100 POEOPLE OUT THERE WHO HAVE DOGS WHO ARE SUPER TRAINED  WHO NEVER THOUGHT OF TRAINING FOR SERVICE...
WATCH THE MIRACLE WORKER-- SEND ME A VIDEO OF YOU AND YOUR DOG........ AND LETS TALK

++++
SPEAKING OF WELL TRQAINED... I CAN NOT SAY ENOUGH  ABOUT BENTLEY AND SIZZLE YESTERDAY-- WISH I HAD A VIDEO-- JUDY AND I ... IN LOWEL AT ONE ADULT DAY CARE CENTER-- PERFECT .. BEENTHER BEFORE.. NO PROBLEM... SO WHILE IN LOWELL JUDY CONTACTED ANOTERH NEARBY... I WENT IN ALONE-- TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY OTHER DOGSS IN THE PLACE--- NO... SO I OPENED THE DOOR FOR BENTLEY, SIZZLWE AND MY
"TRANSFER CHAIR" WHICH I DOUBLES AS A CARRY ALL WHEN I AM NOT SITTING IN IT..   WE WERE IMMEDIATELY SWAMPED AND I COUOLD NOT UNDERSTAND AS WORD ANYONE WAS SAYING--- I THOUGHT I HAD GONE TOTALLY DEAF, BUT TURN S OUT IT WAS A ?NON ENGLISH SPEAKING  DAY CARE.  THE PERSON JUDY HAD TALKED TO ABOUT OUR VISIT  WAS SOMEWHERE ELSE... I QUICKLY TOOK OFF BENT AND SIZ COLLARS BECAUSE PEOPLE WERE GRABBING TEHM..MAKING BOTH ME== AND THEM NERVOUS... BENTLEY WAS TOTALLY STABLE... SIZZLE NEEDED TO MAKE EYE CONTACT WITH ME TO HAVE ME SAY "GOOD GIRL..HANG IN THERE"  -- FOR THE NEXT HOUR WE WENT AROUND THE FACILITY= NOT UNDERSTANDING WHERE WE WERR GOING-- BUT FOLOLOWING ANY2WYA.. WHILE EVERYONE WANTED A PICTURE OF THEMSELVES WITH TEH DOGS.  INCLUDING LYING ON TH EFLOOR WITH THEM

BOTH BENT AND SIZ JUMPED TO ATTENTIONWHEN I SAID THE WORD "CAR"  AND FLEW TO THE DOOR CLEARLY SAYING  "ABOUT TIME !!"
THE EXCITED CROWD HAS TO HVE BEEN ONE OF THE WORSST I HAVE BEEN IN WITH THEM... AND TEHY SURVIVED NICELY...

JAN 15 2020

THE BOARD MEETING...  WONDERFUL OLD HOUSE  1640  ALL CROOKED FLOORS- EVEN BEFORE WE HAD ANY DRINKS... FOOD GREAT.. IT WAS A BIT OF A SHOCK TO HAVE A SIMPLE HAPPY IDEA  OF MINE DEEMED A TOTAL DISASTER= BUT I GU4SS THAT IS WHY WE HAVE A BOARD SO MO4E PEOPLE CAN THINK THINGS OF-=VER..
LARGE DISCUSSION ABOUT HOW THAT WILD WEEKEND DONATING PARTY HAS LOOSENED UP SOME OF OUR "RAMBLINGS" OF A FINANCIAL NATURE....FIRSTLY ---A NEARLY FULL TIME "JUNIOR BUD" TO LIFT , CARRY, HAMMER ... AND SHOVEL IS A HUGE HELP.
++++
LOTTA TIME SPENT ON THE ROAD SHOW.  AND AGAIN WE HAVE 2  ADULT DAY CARES  TO GO TO THIS MORNING...

DOESN'T SOUND LIKE MUCH--- BUT THE DETAILS-- LIKE FEED BENTLEY AND SIZZLE EARLY SO THIER BOWELS GET MOVING  BEFORE WE LEAVE--- AND YOU THOUGHT BEING PERFECTLY TRAINED WS  THE BIG PART???   I WOULD LOVE TO TAKE A THIRD DOG.. BUT WE DON'T HQVE ENOUGH PERFRECTLY TRAINED... YET...  AND I CAN NOT KEEP MY EYE ON 3 RUNNING AROUND A BUNCH OF WHEELCHAIRS,  I FIND THAT BETWEEN POSSIBLY GETTING A HARNESS HOOKED ON A WHEELCHAIR... AND THE TENDANCY OF AN ALTZHEIMER PATIENT TO GRAB A COLLAR AND PULL UNEXPECTEDLY., MY  DOGS  DO BETTER STRIPPED .AND THEY ARE ALWAYS THE ONLY DOGS IN THE PLACE  AT THE TIME.

LOWEL MASS IS WHERE WE HAVE TO GO.
I CAN'T SAY LOWELL WITHOUT  TELLING THE STORY OF MY MAGAZINE  JOB.
THE WANT ADvertiser  CAME OUT EVERY WEEK-- AND I HAD 16 ROUTES AND 16 DELIVERY PEOPLE... EXCEPT-- SOMETIMES-- LIKE IN A REALLY BAD SNOWSTORM  WHEN IF POSSIBLE , I HAD TO GO FILL IN TEH 20 TO 40 STORES ON ANY ROUTE.  ON THIS DAY IN QUESTION -- I WAS IN LOWELL== NO SCHOOLS SO EVERY VARIETY STORE WAS FULL OF KIDS--- AND AT THIS ONE STORE  THERE WERE 4 KIDS AHEAD OF ME IN LINE AS I WAITED FOR THE GUY TO PAY MY SLIP... " I WANT THE PINK BUBBLE GUM...NO NOT THAT OHE, THE ONE ON TOP."  .ETC...ETC..ETC..  SO WHEN I GOT TO THE REGISTER, I SAID TO THE GUY" GEE YOU ARE AWFULLY NICE TO THESE KIDS"  AND HE SAID....."WHY SHOULDN'T I BE...MAYBE 1/2 OF THEM ARE MINE".

MOVING ON.....

JAN 14 2020
a leak !!!  along with NO HEAT  is one of the hugest problems we cfan have in a atmosphere of huge problems  hopefully it is a minor one which an be solved in the basement ...
ustaqbeeeeeee  the water department had a meter in the cellar and the pipe from street to cellar was thiers.. then some harvard   business graduate came along and said " put the  meter out by the street then any problem after teh meter to th ehouse becomes th e homeowner's problem..  which is where i am at this time.

i have a history with water... house in lynnfield has a hand dug well -   wonderful water...we had a pressure tank then a pump-then to the amazement of the older people in town... our well went dry-- many came and said ours was tehe well they always came to when thiers went dry--they saw we were temp hooked to the town water -- so we dug a  long deep hole and hooked to town waterr
and the house burned down we lost the water and teh connection to the barn--
so we dug a hole (has to be 4 feet deep here to avoid freezing...) pulled the pip to the surfaqce aqnd connected it to the barn by way of the house trailer we were living in.... except that was on the surface--- wrapped in miles of elect no freeze tape almost worked... so i covered it with horse shlt- and that kept us with liquid water til spring-- new house,,, etc,,,  etc....
then i moved to ipswich-- no town water--deep well to china--- lotsa drinkable  water  for quantity
+ off the chart for every mineral  known to man..... but it smelled strange  .. and was brown-  one of my mandatory inspections by the usda was reported "failed" becqause th e inside of the horse's water buckets was brown-- until i showd them the inside of the dishwasher was brown too... in a really bad situation , you turned the water on and off by flipping the switch to the pump= worked for years... and then teh developmengts  of further property meant we had water on the street-- so we hooked up/.  and it has almost been wonderful--- if yu forget the time there was a loss in pressure-- which i excused as flushing the fire hydrants-- and forgot about it for a few days-- till i noticed a funny noise in the cellar by the incoming pipe
we had a big leak 4 feet underground that had not surfaced == and we might not have noticed at all until i got the water bill of over $2000 which defined what the funny noise was inthe cellar.  could not dig and locate.. so we dug and put in a new pipe to the barn, laundry, and guest house  5 feet deep  ..
and here we are... a leak into the cellar..
all water wiil be turned off at 8:30 and we will pray...-

Dear Carlene,
When I travel to foreign countries, I use a “know before I go approach” and research their accessibility laws. However just as it is in our country, the citizenry awareness of the laws and application may vary. I have been overwhelmed by the graciousness and consideration of the citizenry of Chile! While walking in a park yesterday, and reading the descriptive signage, I noticed this sign placed at wheelchair level that also had a Braille transcription and audio.

Such a difference between the meaning of the words “Inclusivo” (Inclusive) and “accommodation”. I wonder if the word choice it what makes a difference between how the handicapped are treated in our two countries. As a handicapped person in the US, I often feel as if people think they were doing me a huge favor by “accommodating” me both when I had a wheelchair and now with my service dog.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if our country as “progressive” as we think ours is, would try to reach the level of “Inclusivo” in our attitudes in how we treat our disabled?

re dog education  vs dog training....  i had forgitten this story-  early inthe game i gave a dog to a veteran..and i went by to check on the dog-- doing wonderfully- the only problem teh vet told me --- sometimes teh dog growled at the wife--  that sounded bad-  i spent some time trying to figure out what the heck..... the dog seemed very friendly  to both me and the wife ---- i couldn't understand,  so i decided to go "out" in the community withthe veteran in a real working set up... i noticed when the wife walked near teh dog, he would stiffen very slightly. on pushing that further, i found the dog would growl-- or at least "vocalize" when she was near them...  we went home ( their home) to have som e coffee and try and figure it  out.. he took off the harness and the dog bounded around very friendly to teh wife... i figured it was in their home-- but that was not the decideing factor.. turns out when put back  in harness the  dog  would "vocalize" his displeasure at anyone who came near-- wife included..  with some further investigation , that dog had the arttitude "can't you see i am working --- leave us alone !!"  the rest of that story is ... i swore i could detect the flip side ---- "can't you see i am off duty?" when the dog was sleeping  on the couch next to the wife and he called the dog.
===
there are many before and after stories with the 180+ dogs we have put out working..
---the "balance"   dog for a deaf woman in penna-  who at 3am  jumped up on the woman's bed when the dog  smelled smoke- thus saving the whole appt building.
---the woman who burst into tears because she could now step up the 6" curb to get into the supermaqrket.
---"my dog and i are sitting  on a bench at cannobie lake park scared shltless... but we are here"  after 3 years of not leaving the house.
---" in my wife;s eyes, i have been replaced by a dog... thanks"
---'i am not going  to loose my place in line(at walmart xmas rush)   just because he fell over... his dog will get him up "
---"how do you expect a 50 pound child to control a 150 pound dog?"
--- when she was in a wheelchair, her attendant would forget to take her to lunch. the dopg will do better than that."
and they are not all dog stories
---"i like it when you leave teh donkey sound on  because the chewing of th donkeys  seems to help with the night terrors of my ptsd"
there is no end..
and hopefully many more  stories to come.

THE ANTIQYUE ROAD SHOW IS COMING TO BOSTON... AND I HAVE A FEW....LINDA CALLED TO ASK... APPARENTLEY YOU MAY SUBMIT 2 ITEMS-- WHICH YOU MAY BRING  IN TO THE SHoW== OR THEY WILL COME PICKIT UP///
/OOOOKKKKKKKKK
I HAVE TWO THINGS THAT  MIGHT BE WORTH MORE TO SOME ANTIUUE MUSEASM THAN TO ME.... ONE IS A SMALL 8" Wooden  "CUPE ON Which SiTS A TIN CUBE WITH HAMMERED HOLES== AND A METAL TRAY INSIDE-- THIS APPARENTLY WAS USED TO PUT HOT COALS  UNDER THER FEET OF A PERSONRIDING IN ANCARRIAGE  ?BEFORE 1900??     I HAVE B EEN TOLD THE REASON IT IS SO VALUABLE IS IT STILL HAS THE RLITTLE TRAY FOR COALS... THEN THERE IS THE  THING YOU HAVE ALL SEEN AND DIDN'T KNOWIT...- IT IS THE SURVEYERS CHAIN THAT WAS USED BY A RELATIVE IN WESTCHESTER COUNTY New York.-- I THINK THESAME RELATIVE  who DESIGNED NORTH AVENUE IN NEW ROCHELLE  ( of dick van dyoe show fame)------  the impossibly congested road which carries too much traffic to the commuter train to hew york city...
I also have a rifle which still has the thing to poke the powder down..  the is under my bed  with 2 others because I was not  able to get a permit sell them 30 years ago...if the survey chain is worth a bunch , I will have to find something else to hold up all the things hanging from it as it circles the kitchen and office.

I will look up the ancestors and see what the exact name of the surveyor was....  could make a difference to w=see if hi was on some big names properties...
=======
first shot at new computer-     facts--it took 8 hours to download th4 Microsoft Office that I am used to... but it seems to be working. now...  with a fe w notable exceptions... it seems to be onto spell check...  which sometimes doesn't work correctly  because I am not even close..

this will present a new twwo fold f challenge to reading the DD...  instead of what did she mean to type,  it will be what did she type that caused this word to be replaced.. and then what did she mean to type,

the monitor is huge... and the type minuscule-- I am sure there is a way to tell it to print bigger in som e preferences of antoiehre.

getting my desk cleared to the point of accepting this  "intruder computer"  took some doing.. 2 of the camera people have sent me thing to organize my desk... and  u =I am using both of them == the funny rolling drawer thing has my collection of balls--- for my glowing business of the manufacture of monkey fists...
the trick in making those is to find the right size something  TO USE in Theo middle of them hold the shape...  with string for those zipper pulls I make. it is a marble...- but my bucket of b-ball's continues on with a 30 mm rubber ball, used golf ba,,s racquet balls base balls and soft balls- I gave away the 2 medicine balls I had..and will never again do aw bowling ball

his will be a  challanging dd... i have a new computer-- not ooked up yet... but the ols one has been moved to 4 feet away-- so i cank see it all that well--- alont withe the   teh probem.. there is often  a ont instead of not or now-- both sometiems change the subtle meaning.. so i t tryand fix the ont   not now ones....knot today ( that was a joke-- scott's book.)

wascomatt has been a wonderful; wcommercial washing machine for us... we have 3-- they arte geared for 30,000 cycles ( so the ad says) which at ne a day is 82 years???- i think that ad of theires is a bit mutch-- our 3 run whatr seems constantly each 3 or 4 loads a day    ok so the ad says 27 years.. what i do like about htem is that they seem to ge geared to the laundromat owner whi is faced with one not running so he calls for help-- their help is very specific and so far bud has been abol to order parts amd mend them witout much confusion... -- tghe last repair needed a spring  i tiny one... the size opf the spring in tmany ball point pens...  $1.00 cents plus postage...this was the spring that said there was enough water in the tub------hyey plan it so well ... unlikesome companies like  toyotas where-- with a new car 4 years ago i wasnted a secopnd key--- never thinking to ask how much it would be-- and was shocked to have it be over $200-- because it is one of tose that needs to be programmed to start the car and turn off the siren when you hit the wrong buttomn..--
toyota does have a wondrful gasscap- it is possibel to stuff a normal duplicate key in the hinge cap totally un noticeably - which will shut off the alarm when you scrfewup the $200 key function./

couple things new to me yeasterday--
re: communicable diseases---" God bless you--- and everyone else int eh  room"    says alot..

here is a life changer for you
someone told me that persons in submarines manage to dry themselves with a facecloth that really made me think of those lovely vlyffy expensive "turkish towels"    huge anbd heavy..  but look so good inthe advertisemments---  WHOA !  it is possible to stand on a washcloth and dry with a facetowel- and it will take a week to fill up the normal washing machine  instead of daily.-- thsoe heavy "bath mats " do make perfect dog beds for kids who change classes-- like bella and george.   totally perfect as dog beds/  but as bayth mats, we have been misled.
not only wearing out the wascomatt-- but remember my watter bill varries somewhere between $300 and $900 per month !!j and the leectricity to dry the fool things is worse.0
****
we have a huge merle male dog with us  2 weeks.... --- somewhere...  not a veterans dog-- but husband was killed int he 911 disaster.. so teh extra dog is "riley"  - seems nice enough...

GOODMORN CARLENE..I HOPE YOU NEVER HIT 3 THINGS IN ONE DAY..AND AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED SDP AND ALL IT ENTAILS IS YOURS AND AMEN TO THAT..

UNINTENTIONAL STORY REMINDS ME OF MINE..WE WERE LUCKY TO BE GIVEN A ROTTY PUP FROM A FRIENDS LITTER..SUCH A WONDERFUL FAMILY MEMBER UNTIL WE GAVE HIM TO THE RAINBOW BRIDGE AT AGE 14..
HE CAME TO US DURING LATE SPRING & EARLY SUMMER SO MY SON WAS HOME FROM COLLEGE AND DAUGHTER SUMMER BREAK FROM HIGH SCHOOL..HUSBAND 8-5 JOB..SO MOST OF US WERE AT HOME WITH ZACHARY EVERY DAY..
BUT FOR SOME REASON I BECAME HIS BOSS MOM..AND I OCCASIONALLY WOULD GET THE HIC-CUPS..
WELL ZACHARY WOULD TREMBLE AND SHAKE AND RUN TO HIS VERY CUSHY BED UNTIL I DID NOT DIE..
THIS BECAME A FUNNY BUT SAD SITUATION..WHY ME AND NEITHER OTHER FAMILY PERSON..EVEN IF
I FELT THEM COMIMG ON AND TRIED TO GET TO ANOTHER ROOM..OR IF HE WAS IN THE FENCED IN YARD..
WE TRIED EVERYTHING WE COULD THINK OF..EVEN FRIENDS AND OTHER FAMILY COULD NOT BELIEVE UNLESS THEY WERE VISITING AND SAW FOR THEMSELVES..I TRIED TO REASSURE HIM FOR IT BROKE
MY HEART TO SEE HIM SO SCARED..FINALLY CARLENE I JUST GAVE UP AND FIGURED SINCE I WAS HIS
MAIN FOOD PERSON..HE MUST HAVE LEARNED I WAS IN JEOPARDY AND HE WOULD NEVER EAT AGAIN..
I THOUGHT OF THIS AS I READ ABOUT UNINTENTIONAL LEARNING IN YOUR DD TODAY..
AND OH MY HOW WE DEARLY LOVED OUR ZACHARY "BOY DOG" AS WE CALLED HIM.
ALL THE BEST..

HERBAVORES VS CARNIVORES.  SOME OF THE GUIDES ON THE
AFRICAN CAMS DEMONSTRATE THAT ELEPHANT POOP CAN BE EATEN
WITH NO HARM BECAUSE THEY EAT ONLY GRASSES AND TREE
LEAVES. THEY THEN TOOK A BITE OF ELEPHANT POOP.
WHEN THE ANIMAL EATS MEAT THEY CANNOT, NOR WOULD THEY,
EAT THE POOP.
IT IS THE MEAT THAT MAKES IT SMELL BAD AND I ASSUME
WOULD TAKE LONGER TO COMPOST.

Dear Carlene, I have been watching since 1917. fallen in love with this world. I cannot for some reason access SD related for some reason I am blocked, was able to when I first found your site so was able to read about your life.  Linda gave me your E-mail so I could share my donkey story with you.

I was sent to live with my Grandpa & Ma Moses I was 16 years old my mom sent me from the frying pan straight into the fire, I was able to wrap them around my little finger,  but that's another story. This was happening around the time of the Cuban missile crisis. I felt so loss with all the change they lived in Yucaipa, CA, farming country. My grandmother had a cuckoo clock which was lined up perfectly with me bedroom which went off every hour. It was a hot night so my window was open to catch breeze. I could not sleep was sad and stressed missed my brother so much, I felt tears of frustration and anger oozing through me. I thought about the news of people cleaning out the grocery stores and pictures of duck and cover just running through my mind. Suddenly I heard a wonderful sound not to far away a donkey baying, most beautiful sound at that moment. Not long after that I fell asleep, I have loved donkey's ever since. Learned a lot about farming, gardening, collecting the eggs from the chickens.

I also want to tell you I have always said warshed my whole life and put up with people laughing at me for it. All my relatives are southern Tex, Tenn, S.Carolina.

I had dogs my whole life seven years ago I lost my last Dog a Dachshund taught him how to pee and poo on a pee pad, he was 17 yrs old. I now have a cat and what a difference. I want you to know my favorite dog is Grey I got to see him being born. I believe he is so beautiful. So happy you are taking him around I watch for him everyday.

I am so happy that you are writing a book I so hope it comes out before I cross that bridge just the things I read about when I could access S&D related was remarkable. Thank you so much my life is so much better now everyday DD and mail call is my favorite time. I just love you all.

from an email today----"remember you are doing Gods work" ---  boy can i think of a bunch of photos of what we do around here that  is not as poetic  as God handing a dog to a recipient !!!!  appropriate today because i have 3 boys coming here--- from pike school--  who have a really ingteresting program-- groups of 3  ninth gradders get to pick a charity-- then go there and learn what it takes to do that charity-- then go back to the school and "present " it to a group of judges- and the charity gets $4000-
i really want to win that $4000.... just in principle--  mostly in honor of all the volunteers here who troop thru the woods and pastures  with 2 putty knives removing the  "used food" of teh 50 or so dogs who enjoy a wild run around those areas daily.
***
megan does an absolutely super job- an extremely talented dog trainer- found her as someone's baby sitter 10 years ago... she has th e knack....and   teh  details in her head ( and phone) are incredible... but kudos  also to bud who unfailingly wanders around here being exgtremely observant and reading repair manuals so he keeps the place running-  without  bud we could not even get in the---often malfunctioning-- gate...  he has been around about as long as megan .  then most of all, we have "goldie" --- our GhostOf teh Lefthand Drawer--  who taught us "if ever you have a choice between  brains or luck, take luck."    who is responsible for giving us all manor of  things....and  advice... and probably megan and bud too.

so how do i explain all this to 3 teen age boys?   i could start with  the size of the project......   we get 9 pallets of Purina every 2 months.... 24 bags x 37pounds x9= close to 4 tons- which has to be "processed"  i.e. mixed with water  and got off the pro[perty somehow-- by  my favorite contractor....the dumpster guy.--
***
the line of thought which just struck is... last night at mail call there was a discussion  IPSWICH's new project...  composting-- doggie poo was excluded from the composting project---this   then turned to the topic of pigs-- or rather  a pig.. "lucy" which i had years ago for the kids circus-- mentioned in janine's book... what was  discovred, if we fed her grains- there was no Piggy odor  -- if we fed her  table scraps, which contained meat the stench was remarkable.  this caused a camera watcher to comment that doggy poo  has that distinct odor and takes 2 years to decompose- i could not help where it went next...  and asked teh vegitarians in our camera crowd.... so study this  odor project a bit more and give us a report.

the concrete people are here -- and starting today they will be epoxying the cellar into  a  useable area..

was recently hospitalized for complications to a surgery I had. Pixie was once again complemented commended and beyond so impressed by everyone that came in her path on how well trained she is. I had to share with you what my dr said. Not 1  not 2 but 3 specialist could not believe that I’m still walking with how bad my left leg is and my MS is progressing. I have Pixie to thank for this to keep me out keep me out of a wheelchair still and you for my beautiful gift to keep on walking each step of the way. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. As I say if if I didn’t have Pixie walking with me side by side each day helping me keeping my legs going and focused I wouldn’t be where I am today and I’m that walking miracle.

My drs where so impressed seeing us take steps together walking in sync and how she kept me protected from any harm from falling they said they never seen a SD so attentive and focused before on their partner.

Thank you so much as I’m forever grateful

WHAT IS THE SECOND LEAST PLACE  I WOULD GO TO RIGHT NOW-- MAYBE TEH LEAST-EST???   AUSTRALIA-- SO WHY  TEH UNIVERSITGY OF NEW HAMPSHIRE IS SPONSORING A "FIELD TRIP" TO A PLACE WHERE THEY ARE HAVING TO SHOOT THOUSANDS OF ANIMALS BECAUSE OF A LACK OF WATER TO SUSTAIN THEM I DO NOT KNOW. ---- AUSSIES HAVE MOVED THE HUGE CRUISE  SHIPS CLOSE TO TAKE HUMANS WHO CAN'T GET OUT OF THE WAY OF THE FIRES...  WHERE  TEH NORMAL TEMP IS NEARLY UNLIVABLE-- AS IS TEH AIR TO BREATHE..

THE LACK OF TEH PRACTICAL  IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF THE PROBLEMS I HAVE WITH  OUR  EDUCATION SYSTEM--

ABSOLUTE FACT THAT I STUDY EVEDY DAY-- IF I DID NOT HAVE THE GAS TO DRIVE TO TOPSFIELD TO BUY A LOAF OF BREAD I COULD NEVER WALK THAT FAR ( 2 MILES) AND WOULD HAVE TO RESORT TO EATING  TEH  PURINA STORED IN OUR YARD.
TEH WHOLE STRING  BETWEEN  TEH WHEAT FIELDS AND MY BREAD....MAKES ME VERY NERVOUS... ELECTRICITY TO  PUMP THE GAS OUT OF THE STATION... THE TRUCKS TO GET THE GAS  THERE--  THE FEW BRIDGES ACROSS THE MISSISISIPPI-- THEN THE HJUDSON -- AND CONN RIVERS --  SPEAKING OF THE HUDSON....  THE FACT THAT THE BIGGEST SUPPLY OF DRINKING WATR FOR NEW YORK CITY IS ON ONE SIDE OF TEH HUDSON AND MANHATTAN ON THE OTHER PRESENTS A VERY BASIC PROBLEM WITH GEOMETRY.
JUST AS  I HAVE A BASIC FEAR OF  HAVING AN OIL PIPLINE CROSS THAT BIG RIVER THAT  IS A TRIBUTARY TO THE MISSISSIPPI- A HOLE IN THAT WILL CONTAMINATE ALL OF MIDDLE AMERICA.. AND THERE GOES TEH WHEAT FOR MY BREAD.

THERE IS JUST SO MUCH YOU CAN WORRY ABOUT AND CONTROL-- LIKE IF I DON'T REPLACE TEHE OVERDUE STICKER ON  MY CAR THEY MAY MAKE ME PARK IT-- WHICH WILL INHIBIT MY BREAD BUYING PROJECT ON A MORE PERSONAL BASIS. AND I CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT THAT.
******
AND....ON ANOTHER TOPIC........ I TOTALLY BELIEVE IN A TEENAGE PEACE CORP-- EVERY ONE SHOLD HAVE TO -- GO  PROVIDE SOMETHIGN FOR SOMEONE ELSE--- NOT ONLY WOULD IT GET SOM PROJECT DONE , BUT IT MIGHT TEACH  TEH "FETCH ME---- CARRY ME----- TAKE ME" ...GROUP TO BE MORE GIVING IN THE FIRST PLACE.
I AM NOT SUPPOSED TO DO THIS... BUT... I WATCH...   ...BE IT  A SCOUTING  TABLE AT TEH POST OFFICE OR OR SALVATION ARMY-'S BELL RINGERS....-THE PERSON WHO SLIPS $1 INTO ANY  DONATION CAN SMILES... THE PERSON WHO SEES IT AND RUSHES BY  SNARLES.
---- LIKE GIVINT A CAKE TO THE FIRE DEPARTMENT IS A SMILE M,AKER TO THE GIVER TOO...

PIGGIE IS WORKING THEIR WAY  HOME-- I DID GET THIS----
Piggie has been marvelous, such a good boy.
 AND THEN

I know it's been quite some time since I have updated you on my sweet Lydia so I thought I would send you one today.

Firstly Lydia is doing very well. She had her yearly physical recently, all her labs from her Senior blood profile were perfect, all within normal limits. Her weight is good, she is happy and in my opinion aging very well :) She will be 7 in Feb.. She is of the Pimento litter. Olive and Walter.

She is having a strange issue with one toe nail which has separated from the quick. There was no apparent injury to the nail itself which made it concerning. It became infected so off to the vet we went. Long story short, two rounds of antibiotics did not take care of the problem, and her nail eventually fell off, which left her quick exposed to injury. So yesterday she had a procedure to remove the quick in hopes of it healing faster. There is a area on the quick which looks a bit off, so they are going to put that in a jar and "if it doesn't react as it should, they will send it out for biopsy".
I love my vet, I discussed with her if it were possible to do this procedure without
the use of sedation. She knows how wonderful Lydia is and felt we could do this with a block on her toe. They had me come back to the procedure room so Lydia would be more comfortable. She did amazing! So proud of her! Full cooperation from Lydia! The Vet did a very successful block and Lydia had no pain what so ever during the procedure.
Some extra measures had to be taken to take care of some extra bleeding, but it was handled very quickly.
I am SO proud of my sweet girl.
I have done her first dressing change this morning and all was perfect. No blood in her bandage at all. She is on antibiotics and pain meds and doing well with those. She has her follow up on Friday to make sure all is healing as it should.

Lydia was known on the farm as "Lydie Kitty" because she was rather timid and shy. Let me just say, Lydia has found her voice as she has aged! hahah ... She is rather serious, but happy. Still able to do her job very well <3
When we go to the vet she talks to them when they call her name, when we go to the bank, she talks to them as well. When we see friends we haven't seen for a while, she talks to them. She can even be a little sassy pants. I love seeing her come out of her shell. She has times when she still can be nervous, but far and few between at this point.
She is slowing down a bit, but so am I. I like to say we are aging in sync :D Though her random zoomies can still make me dizzy watching her..lol I love watching her kick up her heels.

Once again thank you so much for my amazing girl! Thanks to all who made this match possible. She is incredible, special, sweet, quirky, and beautiful <3 I am blessed to have her.

Thanks again,
Annette and Lydia ***************************

DOGS WITH RESPECT.  THEY ALWAYS SAY "EXCUSE ME" OR

IT IS ALONG THOSE LINES THAT YOU MAY NOTICE "ACE CONCRETE" TRUCK HERE-- I AM ASKING THEM TO DO THE CELLAR WITH THE SAME EPOXY ON THE WALLS/FLOOR  OF THE ICU HOUSE.-- WHICH -- WITH THE ADDITION OF A WOOD STOVE WILL MAKE THE CELLAR MUCH MORE SQUARE FOOTEAG OF TRUELY USEABLE SPACE.   - THE CONTENTS OF WHICH ARE BEING STORED IN TEH ICU AND UNDER TARPS IN THE  HORSE TRAILER EXCEPT FOPR MY HIGWHEELER BIKE-- WHICH MAY GET HUNG IN THE ARENA AS JUST ANOTHER RELIC OF DAYS GONE BY-- I RODE THAT THING THE 26 MILES OF THE GREAT RACE- CROSSING THE FINISH LINE 30 SECONDS BEFORE A  WBZ TV HOST WHO HAD SAILED A WATER BED.

I DID THAT RACE FOR MANY YEARS... IT STARTED AS AN ARGUENMENT BETWEEN 2 GUYS IN A BAR "MADDIES SAIL LOFT"  ?? WAS IT FASTER BY LAND OR BY SEA TO GET FROM WATERTOWN TO MARBLEHEAD.?? .   JUST THE 2 GUYS TO START WITH ....  8 YEARS LATER- THERE WERE MANY THOUSANDS RIDIN AND PADDLING ALL KINDS  OF WIERD MACHINES.. PUSHING HOSPITAL BEDS WITH BOTTLES OF KALLUA   UPSIDE DOWN AS THE  DRIP.... AND THE THOUSANDS ALL WORE SHIRTS THAT WERE SOLD AT THE START-  THERE WAS A PROFIT TO BE MADE ON THE SELLING OF SHIRTS----- TEH IRS WANTED TO KNOW WHO HAD THAT PROFIT....  WOULD YOU BELIEVE... NO ONE DID
HENCE THAT WAS THE END OF WATERTOPWN TO MARBLEHEAD RACE..  DARN SHAME !!
